I met Jay Sebring, although I dont remember. Was May of 65 i was 2 years old ive written my mother for the picture she has of him and me. He gave me my first haircut. My mother worked for Marion Robert Morrison, better known as John Wayne. He demanded i get a hair cut ha ha ha, i was a tiny tow head with hair too thick for a two year old. My mother was taken back by his demands but eventually gave in. My mother was nervous, he told her to relax and trust him. John Wayne had his hair done at the sebring salon, so my mother read a magazine while i was looked after. She never imagined how I'd look when he was done. He gave me a pixie cut, and my mother fell in love with the style. I will upload the images she sends me. It was amazing to see the differences before and after. He was a beautiful man. It's such a shame that he didn't get to finish his dreams.

Hi Scott I am a Sebring Certified hairstylist. I have the plaque with my name and date. The man I worked for in the mid 70’s. I pretty sure he has passed away now. The certificate is dated after Jay Sebrings death. The shop I worked in dealt with alot of sport celebrities and jockeys. I worked for him for at least 8 years. It was such a shame about him and the others in the Manson murders! I've always felt connected with Jay Sebring. Jay Sebring was a sports car enthusiast. Sebring was born Thomas John Kummer and changed his name to Sebring after being inspired by the Sebring Car Race. Sebring owned a number of sports cars including a AC Shelby Cobra and a Porsche 911. Jim Morrison was a client of Sebring. Morrison was so impressed with Sebring's cars that when Morrison's record company offered to buy him a gift for completing an album on time and on budget, Morrison asked for a Shelby Mustang GT500. Eventually the GT500 'disappeared' and Morrison died not too long after that. Today Morrison's Mustang is on the top of the list of missing Mustangs.

His name was James Buss and he was murdered in his apartment.
This would be a great story to report on. The creep tried drugging me when I went to his place to make money cleaning his apartment. Seeing that he was dating my cousin, and I was 16, I was safe. I did get out due to my strong will.
They were no longer dating when he was removed.

I saw a video on the internet that looked into the social circle that had been at the Tate/Polanski house that night of the Manson murders. What was enlightening was that they were an eclectic gathering of people with some in show business and some in business and one an heiress who were all in their 20's just starting life. The director of the video pointed out how it became a Hollywood thing to say that you just missed being at the Tate/Polanski house the night of the murders when the truth is these were friends who socialized a lot together without Hollywood superstars around. The tragedy is that those killed were a group of friends mostly not well known who were killed by lunatics.

It still look amazing & well kept. From all I've seen and read about Jay he was such a talented & successful guy. His life was cut short by crazy people.
It would be cool if someone bought & kept it a salon, but as you mentioned you never know in LA. I wonder if Quentin Tarrantino would buy & preserve something like this? I can totally see a greedy developer buying this building & putting condos on it.

It would break my heart to see the building demolished. The photo of Jay (3:21 in your video) has Larry Geller behind him with the hair dryer in his hand. Larry was one of the first stylists that Jay hired for his salon. Elvis Presley was one of Larry's clients when Elvis was a customer at the Sebring Salon.
