@@gator2813 he was quoting Mama Cass I believe when she was talking about her visit to the house after the murders that she supposedly told someone about but never mentioned to the police or prosecutors or … anybody apparently.
@@gator2813 you’ll get no argument from me. Bugliosi said in Helter Skelter something like it sounded like half of Hollywood was invited to a party that night at 10050 Cielo Drive. But after interviewing Sharon’s sisters and parents, the housekeeper, and Abigail’s mother, he decided the party was a myth and it was never planned or happened. Apparently one of Sharon’s younger sisters did want to come by that night with a few friends and Sharon told her she was really tired and let’s make it another night.
It's sick that the door was for sale in the first place. Even sicker is someone bought it. May all those who passed from that horrible night rest in peace.
Jan, after President Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's theater, in the aftermath of it all, people were taking pieces of the US Flag and other items IN the theater after all the authorities had focused on the President and the First Lady. There was no security left over to protect the Theater from looting on that very night. These kinds of things happen in history. Heck, items that involved other well-known or lesser-known actors and actresses have been bought and sold over time through auction houses. It continues to this day. Whoever ends up owning the items feels linked to the day or person involved with it. That is history. Would I want to own that particular item? No, not for me, but I wouldn't mind owning a saber sword from a US Calvary officer from the Civil War (1861-1865).
Patty Duke is the only one I believe. Sharon may well have called her and invited her to come with them to dinner at El Coyote. Doesn't mean Patty would have gone back to the house with them, though. Btw, Steve McQueen was also invited to my 5th birthday party. He didn't show up. He had no idea how close he came to seeing a scary clown.
When we were burgled at Easton Drive I called Jay in Las Vegas and told him. I think he was cutting Frank’s hair. He said,”Don’t go into the house” “I’m in the house calling you”. “ Get out of the house” he screamed. “I’ll send someone to help you.” I had already told him that our belongings were strewn all up and down the slate stairs. I went up to the carport and waited. After a few minutes I heard a motor cycle turn onto Rimmel which was our actual street. Even though our address was Easton Drive. It was Steve McQueen! Steve went into the house with a pistol, checked all the rooms, then told me it was safe to enter. He helped me collect our belongings and said Jay had asked him to stay over until he came back the next day. He asked if that was alright! DUH!
Demolishing it was the best thing they could have done. For the last tennant, naming his studio "THE PIG" shows you what a PIG he really was ! Pretty sick !
@@edynfox6368 Yeah, Trent Reznor. He apparently ended up regretting it later after an encounter with Sharon's sister.... Marilyn Manson was also known to frequent the studio, but I somehow don't think *he* is as remorseful lol 🤷🏿♂️👀🤦🏿♂️✔️
Sharon begging for the life of her baby, to the point of offering to let them kill her after she gives birth- is absolutely the worst thing i have ever heard- it, literally, makes my heart hurt. It is unreal that that kind of evil lives and breathes among us.
I was NOT invited to the house. In fact, I had no idea it even existed, until after the murders. However, I grew up in the San Fernando valley. I saw Manson girls panhandling at the supermarket in Granada Hills on more than one occasion before the events of 1969. One friend of mine (years later!) told me she had been Manson's girlfriend and had had a son by him whom she had given up for adoption. The scariest brush with the Family came around the spring of 1969. I was still in high school, then, and was on my way into my history class (history or English, I can't really remember which) and there was this *dude* sitting in the back, feet up on the desk. He was wearing a fringed jacket, a cowboy hat and shades. The teacher came in and immediately demanded "Who are you?!" Not giving his name, he replied "I'm auditing the class." to which she snapped "Oh no you're NOT! OUT!" He dropped his cowboy booted feet to the floor and s-a-u-n-t-e-r-e-d out in a "suit yourself..." manner. Students came in and the class happened. It was the last class of the day. After class, I came out and found a knot of five or six girls clustered around Mr. Cowboy. he looked over and said "Hey! Wanna come to a party?" I thought about it for maybe six seconds and realized that if I missed the school bus, I had no way of getting home! Also, if I did not get home on time, Mama would have yanked a knot in my tail. So I replied "Sorry, I gotta get home." He shrugged and that was the end of it. YEARS later, I read Vincent Bugliosi's "The Family. There, in the section of photos, was the guy! Same jacket! Same hat. Same hair. Tex Watson. The book said that he often recruited Manson Family girls from the local high schools, including Birmingham High School on VanOwen Blvd. My school! I had turned down an invite from Tex Watson to party with Charles Manson at the Spahn Ranch. In my family album, also, I have an old photograph from the 1940's showing my grandmother on horseback beside the sign that read "Spahn Ra--". When I asked Mama ab out that photo she said "Oh yes... we always went up there on the weekends to ride horses." Wow.
Wow... small world! I have a piece of the plaster vanity that Manson was found hiding in when he was arrested, as well as a (preposterously over-size for the purpose) nail from the lookout the girls made across the road from Barker ranch. A bunch of friends and I camped out there about 20 years ago, before some idiot blew the place up. Odd little keepsakes, from a rather creepy camping trip...
Wow! What an amazing story. Thanks for sharing!!! I have always wanted to visit old Spahn Ranch. I am from Texas, and have just never made the trip out that way. Very familiar with the Manson case. What a crazy time that was. Again...thanks for sharing...
I met some friends from So Cal in 2005 at a vintage motocross race in E Tx . These particular men were racing the sidecars at the time ( I can’t describe how tough physically that is ) . A day before the race , my friend from Tucson said ask Richard about their run in with Charlie . Basically, they admitted to being involved with some unsavory characters at the time and encountered Manson and others at a house waiting for payment . My friend who I call Bear ended up being hit by Manson and ended up thrashing him quite well and dragging them out to a car and throwing them in . Tex was in car asleep and woke up but Bear cold cocked him. He clearly lives with some of that guilt of thinking if he had done something more etc . The most interesting thing was hearing that among the bikers , low level drug dealers, car thieves etc , Manson was considered a piss ant and annoying little waif etc - the girls were rude, disrespectful and had horrible BO .
I also grew up in the San Fernando Valley, I went to Granada Hills High School. The Manson family also hung out in the train tunnels by Chatsworth Park where we would go. Different murderer but Richard Ramirez the Night Stalker, worked where my brother worked in Sylmar. In fact my brother sent him home when he found Ramirez practicing Devil worship on the property. Lots of serial criminals in California in the 1970s.
Ed Sanders wrote an exhaustive and long-time researched book titled THE FAMILY. It seems to be the most detailed of the books at that time. It was first published in 1971, although he'd been doing a year-long story about the Manson folks for ROLLING STONE since 1968. It's been updated and that edition was published in 2002 with citations of his research corrections as well as new passages. I can't find any Bugliosi books called THE FAMILY... and while Bugliosi's book HELTER SKELTER is far more popular - thanks the the TV miniseries - it is at best a flawed version of Bugliosi's 'how to construct a prosecution case'. And even then, he fudged some details and used 'poetic license' in his claim to make it more 'readable'. It's a good book for what it is but Ed Sander's has far more corroborated info about the Manson family themselves, and Manson's role and reasons. HELTER SKELTER's TV movie took even more liberties but it does make for a sufficiently watchable TV program.
I wish the laws existed at that time to acknowledge baby Paul as an additional victim. I know it doesn't change the outcome, but to simply honor him as well.
I drove up Cielo Drive in 1989 for the first time not knowing what was visible from the street. When I got to the gate, it was open. I could only see part of the driveway and maybe part of the lawn. I couldn’t see any cars and thought for a moment to walk part of the way in but didn’t. It was surreal being there.
The housekeeper, Winifred Chapman, unknowingly did a very important chore the day of the murders. The Polanski's dog had muddied the white door with it's paws. Mrs. Chapman washed down the door with vinegar and water. This provided a clean surface that helped authorities retrieve fingerprints from.
@@Screamingforvengeancee The door had been wiped down PRIOR to the murders - on Mrs. Chapman's last actual work day. The poster above is probably meaning "the day of the murders" as August 8 during the day. The murders took place late night of the 8th, early morning of the 9th.
I love how people come out of the woodwork saying they were supposed to be there that night and the Cass Elliott thing is bizarre. If you came across that wouldn't you go call the cops? OMG. Thanks for another great video Scott. May all the victims RIP.
Scott your show is one of the best , your narration flawless , difficult remembering the Tate murders , horrible time in L A it truly was unbelievable , thank you Scott for being so kind and with great respect remembering these 6 people who were murdered so violently. RIP to the 6 souls lost that horrible night in august 1969. 🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀also Steve parent who was so young went to visit a friend the friend left after he had bought a radio from Parent was leaving pulling out of the drive way , when Tex Watson pulled up gonna leave it there….,,, 🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀
Cass Elliott was in question anyway for the murders because of HER house parties over in Laurel Canyon. She had people in and out of her house all the time- a couple of those people were directly tied to the Manson murders.
John Phillips supposedly told Cass Elliot that it was her fault Sharon Tate was killed I forgot exactly what he told Cass but if he did say that to her it was a cruel AH thing to say and not true if that was what was referred to the only ones who are to blame for the horrifying murders both nights and the other murders Gary Hinman and Donald Shorty Shea are the killers themselves
My heart aches for Sharon Tate (plus her unborn son ) and the 4 others murdered so needlessly. Seeing Roman sitting at the front door of that home is so sad. May all of the deceased rest in peace knowing that these murders aren't forgotten. Thank you for being so respectful towards the deceased. The Manson family ended the lives of people who didn't deserve to pass.
Polanski treated Sharon like crap cheated on her constantly verbally mistreated her and he even got mad at her once at a party and threw her in the swimming pool in front of the other guests and when she first told him about the pregnancy I will just say he was not thrilled I also heard on the documentary Jay's nephew made that Sharon before she was killed she spoke to a divorce lawyer and supposedly even had papers drawn up and she was planning to return to Jay but then the murders happened I don't know all of it but I also heard that the night she died when she had spoken to Roman on the telephone and they had a bit of a discussion she was upset that he was not coming back when she expected him to or something
What loving husband do you know, would go sit down at their wife's bloody crime scene, and take pictures with her blood. HOW MANY HUSBANDS DO THAT. 'poor polanski' bleh yer stunned.
Yeah it has been made known by Sharon’s sister Debra that Sharon was very hot and uncomfortable that day. She didn’t even what her to come over and spend the night. I highly doubt there was a “party” that all of these celebrity types were invited to. Seems as if they just wanted their extra 15 mins of fame. Pretty sad!
Yeah, there was no party planned. The group wouldn't have gone out to eat at El Coyote had there been a party planned. Sharon's sister had wanted to come spend the night and bring a couple of girlfriends. Sharon said "no" because she didn't want to have to do her eye makeup for strangers. Her sister said that Sharon did that famous eye makeup look for guests because she felt obligated by vanity and living up to her image. Sharon told her sister that she just couldn't be bothered to do it that night...
@@jenniferlloyd9574 It's easy to make up a story when all the witnesses who could confirm or deny are dead. Really pathetic that so many of those hollyweird types are just self seeking liars.
@@jenniferlloyd9574 Weird that Sharon Tate felt the need to do eye make up for a few teenage girls who were friends of her baby sister. Also Sharon looked way better with no makeup or just a little.
Today is my birthday. I was born on the morning of August 08, 1969. I've always had a love-hate relationship with this day as it was always the hottest day or a rainstorm (or hurricane) would cancel out party plans--oh, and my grandfather died on my 17th. It's always been the bane of my existence. A couple of things I can confirm about that day and late-stage pregnancy: My mother was in Erie, PA, that summer, and just as far along as Sharon; the homes back then didn't have central air and pregnant women were literally keeling over from the heatwave that had gripped a large portion of the U.S. My mother wasn't the only woman who tried to induce labour so she could rest in the cool air of the hospital for a couple of days; I arrived three weeks early. As for "PARTY AT SHARON'S!!!" . . . . I was nine months pregnant during Christmas 1997 and San Antonio was having an unusual heatwave. My sister wanted me to go out to parties and doctors wanted me to "walk the baby out", but 89 degrees with oppressive heat and humidity kept me inside with the AC as low as it could go. All I wanted to do was fold myself up and fit in the freezer. Any pregnant woman (past & present) knows the stories about a party were bunk. But elaborate lies always get more attention than an ordinary bland truth. That's why my heart weeps for Barbara Lewis and Joanna Pettit who WERE there earlier in the day, and for Debbie Tate who WANTED to be there that evening. Roman and Winnie Chapman would have known about a party before anyone else and they never said anything to confirm one. It wasn't until Quentin Tarantino filmed "OUTIH" and gave me the most wonderfully satisfying and heartwarming birthday presents to end all birthday presents, that I decided to make peace with the day. I always take a couple of minutes out to think of Sharon, Paul-Richard, Jay, Voytek, Gibby, and Steven. Thank you for this sweet and loving video tribute. Many blessings to you, Scott.
Gosh I just looked at the calendar and realized the date August 8, 2023. Although she wasn't at the Tate house, she was at the killing the next night at The LaBianca's - Leslie Van Houten. We must never forget the victims. Isn't it ironic that Ms Van Houten was just released from prison almost 54 years from the date of that awful weekend back in 1969.
It was such a beautiful home, it’s a shame it was demolished, but I can understand why some folks wouldn’t want to live there. I often wonder about the “what ifs”… what if Abigail had escaped when she first heard the commotion? What if Sharon had headed out the bedroom door and up the mountain behind the house? Such a sad ending for them all, especially Sharon and her unborn son. May all the victims rest in peace. 😢
Like when they tore down Gacy's home.Who could ever live there. Amazing that the Speck murder site is still standing.Drove past there and got a sick feeling in my stomache.RIP to those 8 poor nurses.
Very informative. One of the movies however got it wrong. Mr Hatami was with Sharon when Manson came to the house. Also, i believe Mama Cass “stole” John Phillips story. The morning of the murders John went to the home of Michael Butler was frantically ringing the bell at the gate. When no one got up to let him in, he somehow got up onto the carport and jumped down into the yard then began banging on the front door. He had been up to the house saw bodies on the front lawn and freaked out and for some reason went to Michael’s. Michael told me the story and a few years later i taped him, but his memory was fading. Michael and roman had discussed trading houses before Roman went to Europe. Michael owned 1896 Rising Glen former home of Blake Edwards and Julie Andrews. Michael wanted to make the trade right away, but Roman wanted to wait until they returned from Europe.
@@DearlyDepartedToursI enjoy all of your videos including this one. Very well done. Question, why do we think the home next door is the one haunted? I intend to watch the House at the end of the Drive. That interview was amazing. Btw the spirits were not messing with your batteries, they zap energy sources and with you there one of them was very interested and present. That’s why the batteries were going out. Someone was right there with you Scott! They don’t mean you any harm sir.
Man I could listen to Scott's stories for hours. He's an great storyteller. I wonder where he gets all his obscure info on everyone and everything...and how he remembers it all! I remember him talking about the door being taken by Trent Reznor in his SIX DEGREES OF HELTER SKELTER (a must see if you missed it!) I wonder where the guy that's selling it at auction got it? Such a great story! Thanks Scott!!!
I did know a woman who knew Abagail Folger. Their families knew each other and my friend grew up knowing her. They were friends, but not close friends. She hadn't seen her for several years when Abigail was murdered, but it was very eerie and upsetting for her. Btw, my friend was apparently one of the few people in California not invited to "the party."
I'm glad you put the "but mostly him" regarding Tex. I'm definitely not saying the others shouldn't be blamed but I've always thought Tex was the worst one, especially if you look into the real facts behind this case. Everyone focuses on Manson but Tex deserves more public scrutiny.
Nailed it 100%. I did a school project on the Manson Family back in 1984 and everything was about Manson or Sadie Susan Atkins yet Tex Watson was ther one who did the killings and ordered the girls what to do. Tex Watson was able to live a somewhat normal life behind bars, Marrying and having a family, how sick was that?
and he's had a wonderful life in prison, supposedly becoming a born again preacher and having multiple kids thru conjugal visits with his wife he married while incarcerated. The manson women also had easy times in jail, no real punishment for any of them in reality.
Great job Scott. I visited a house in the early 80s with a coworker who was a longtime friend of Rudi and he lived at the house in 1970-71. I met Rudi Altobelli who was a very nice but quirky man at the house. I saw him again after he moved to Franklin Towers after he sold the house. From my personal experience visiting the house around 1982 to 1984, I didn’t experience any negative feelings.
Mrs H 🇬🇧 .. I believe they was no party but Sharon having a few sleep over.... I'd jump on for attention but no one would believe me cos I was only 2yrs old at the time..!
I never heard that either . There is that one book that describes (almost) every single day/week/month that the Beatles were together and tells were they were or who they were with . Or where they were recording.
If more people had been there that nightmare could have been thwarted. And counting Paul Richard Polanski, who was a near full term baby...there were six people. I've never heard about the Cass Elliot account, only that she was was very frightened afterwards because her house was in such close proximity. Trent Reznor's music made me physically ill to listen to. His exploitation was reprehensible, and Sharon's sister Patricia spoke up about it. Doorways are portals...not sure about doors themselves. I recently visited the Hank Williams museum, and could not get too close to the car he died in because it was making me feel unwell as does the sight of that door! Objects do carry energies, and should be treated with respect. The families, and their loved ones who were so senselessly taken including one who had not been given the chance to live should ALWAYS be shown respect...🥀Steven 🥀Wojciech 🥀Abigail 🥀Jay 🥀Sharon & Paul 🙏
So, you were in Montgomery, AL., right? Alot of people don't know that Jay Sebring ( born John Tomas Kummer) was born in Fairfield, Al, a suburb of Birmingham. The family later moved to Michigan. When Patricia Krenwinkle was arrested, she was visiting an aunt in or near Mobile, Al.
Hi Scott, Fascinating as usual. I always thought the house was gorgeous, the setting, the sweet little house itself, I can see why Sharon thought it was perfect. The fact that Sharon's own sister called and since it was the hottest night of the year requested to come up and swim in the pool and Sharon begged off, saying she was too hot, tired and pregnant for guests says a lot, she and her sister were close if she didn't want family to come by you can bet she didn't invite anyone that night. I was just a kid but my parents got a subscription to Life Magazine and I'll never forget the front cover with Roman sitting outside the door with Pig written in his wife's blood. I always thought that photo shoot was very strange intrusive, but I guess we all deal with grief differently. If I had the money I would have purchased the artifact (the door) for you and your collection. I know you would have treasured it and treated it with the respect it deserves.
That door 🚪 has been touched by and passed through by many of people many of times by good, famous and bad people, so yeah it has allot of residual energy embedded into it. Good info video Scott 👍🏻👍🏻
Oh, my goodness. I live in Los Angeles and as a teenager, after I had gotten my drivers license, would always take friends to the Tate house, circa 1970/71. Many years later when Rudi Atobelli still lived there and I should have grown up and away from such hijinks, alone, I drove up to the house again. Unlike every time before, this afternoon the gate was wide open and I decided I would walk onto the property. Just a little bit so that I could actually see the famous front door which alludes one's grasp standing at the front gate. Well just as the full house came into view there was a man looking out at me from the front windows of the house! He immediately came out to confront me. Yes, I was scared to death but knew to remain breezy. I don't know how I was so cleaver to think of this but announced I was a college student from UCLA meeting a group of students at the end of a street on Cielo Dr. (From the slim road there are 2 Cielo Drives and one could turn either left or right) Scott, you are quoting RA as saying the one thing he hates are sight seers to his property. I feel positive that the gentleman who exposed me was Rudi. This was a long time ago and I can't quote our conversation but it went pretty well for me. He asked me several questions and never confronted me as to my story and no mention of it being the Tate house. I have light blond hair, blue eyes and innocent physical features to boot and am not seen as a physical threat to anybody. I suppose I've gotten away with some stuff in my time...
Its either a case of these people wanting to involve themselves in the story, or there was indeed a party planned but Sharon's tiredness (as vouched for by her sisters) canceled the plans for the night.
More recently its said that its highly unlikly they even went to EL Coyote prior to the events later that night. Theres a video of Dearly Departed tours regarding this matter.@@julietrask7497
When new house was built, they changed the 10050 Cielo Dr. address... it exists no more. Now 10066 Cielo Dr. Also to note, the old house itself, by today's standards wasn't much, but the property location and spectacular view is what made it so special. And the winning bid for the door........ $127,000.
Yeah...Sharon eight and a half months pregnant on the hottest day and night of the year is ready to PARTAY...but others allegedly invited were too tired or falling asleep so they missed being at Cielo Dr. Uh huh ... 🙄🤦 *There was NO party
Thank you for sharing this. Still so heartbreaking. And for those who claimed to have been invited to a "party" that night but couldn't make it, should have felt ashamed. RIP to those Souls who past 8/8/1969
I didn’t know about the number of people claiming they were going there that night! It almost sounds like today’s social scape, with everyone saying they were too tired, or other things. I don’t believe any of them were invited there either.
I don’t believe any of them, and who the f*#k would throw a party at 8 1/2 months pregers?! NOBODY ! You just want to crawl into a ball and nest till due date .
Too bad there wasn’t a party. A couple of dozen guests probably would have derailed the tragedy, at least that night. I can’t imagine staying in that house or having the door with me.
I ADORE that closing sentiment. Some people are so resistant to reality that just the notion of having these items in existence really chaps their butts, but I agree that's it's important to remember these things and these people, even if it's not rose colored perfection.
Thank you for this video. You told the story as it was in short form. Very very informative. I have been following this since it happened and STILL can't wrap my head around it.
Another "ghost story" comes courtesy of Tori Amos, who was visiting NIN while they were recording. She says she decided to cook a chicken in the oven, but realized after 1 hour that the chicken was still cold 😱 (she probably just didn't light the pilot).
Well done video! I had no idea of some the background history of the door. The celeb stories of how they were supposed to be there that night really is telling.
That was an excellent video. I never would have guessed so many famous people walked through that door! I would love to have it. It's funny, when my grandmother passed I really wanted her front door. It held special time and memories of all the joys of my childhood. Sadly all that is gone, especially my childhood. it's just bizarre to me why people tear down such historic homes.
Why would you want the door that had a murdered woman's blood on it once, and was the entrance way to a house where horrific events occurred. Would definitely bring its bad energy with it.
Tori Amos relayed a story about visiting Reznor at that house while he was recording The Downward Spiral. She'd brought ingredients to cook him a chicken dish, but said that, for some reason, something kept blowing the pilot light out. Tori claimed she spent hours trying to cook the meal, but everything remained raw. After that she got her things and never came back.
Thank you Scott for giving us this piece of history regarding Cielo Drive. You treat everyone involved with great respect and kindness. I usually shy away from videos regarding the deceased celebrities because I don’t like when people that have passed on are exploited for views. You kind sir, are a class act! You treat the deceased with the respect they deserve! Every living thing deserves to die with dignity. Thanks for sharing my beliefs! I appreciate you so much!
He took the door and had it put in at his TVT studio on Tchoupitoulas St. in New Orleans. I couldn't believe it. His house in the Quarter on St. Charles was an mortuary, and funeral home. His tastes were macabre to put it euphemistically.
Boy, that charles guy was so, so twisted. That's a morbid relic of history - one I would not want to own. For your consideration; had all the aforementioned showed up that night, that carnage might never have taken place. It would've been very difficult to kill so many people. Manson's minions might have seen what they were up against and had second thoughts at the challenge of dispatching so many.
@renatawarec that may very well have been the case. But you don't know that to a certainty. Who knows what his rabid, unpredictable impulses would have led him to orchestrate, failing an assault on that fateful night.
Scott; well done; you present a nightmare in a way that allows a disassotionatiance of the gruesomely ended decent lives from the innate desire everyone feels regarding mementos of shocking events. I've been a Death Hag subscriber for nearly 20 years, and, totally get and appreciate a shared interest in horror when it meets celebrity. You keep inventing yourself, and Dearly Departed, in masterful form! Big fan here, David Harris Mooresville NC
Wow. Weird they didnt take the time to get an easy basic detail right in those movies. Really interesting work. Important message at the end. Many wanted the Texas school book depository demolished, now its a top of the line museum and archive...and a beautiful building was saved.
I knew the only one that would get the design of the beautiful front door right was Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. I thought that movie was so sad. What if all of that hadnt happened. 🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊RIP to all the Souls
Hey Scott, its the Liberace L guy. Awesome video!! I was just thinking about the tour you took me on years ago when we would meet up at the Starbucks and head out from there. All you had was the Schlitzie tattoo, I think. Anyway, just saying hi, and wishing you well.
Another AMAZING video that just sucked me right in!!! You Rascal, you!! Love your videos and appreciate soooo very much the time and effort you put into them! Thank you so much for sharing your work with us!!! Big ol hugs and love from MamaJane in South Carolina
The only person I can really believe that was invited to hang out with them is Steve McQueen but like you said his plans got thwarted due to his infidelity luckily! I also heard a few years back the actress who had car trouble- I think a friend of Roman’s but the party theory is hard to believe because she was so far along in her pregnancy and didn’t even want her sister to drop over. The house does have a haunting history - too bad because the house was so beautiful! Thanks for always sharing your videos Scott!
Another top notch and fascinating upload. I would one day like to go to a celebrity auction. It must be so mind-blowing and sad to see the Hollywood past relics. Thank you Scott.😊
Scott another great video. Thank you. There was another actress who fell to a strange death on Cielo Dr. Was wondering if you could shine some light on the life and terrible death discovery of Yvette Vickers? And again thank you for your videos.
Amazing how you arent horrified how old Hollywood is gone. Im glad your keeping it alive. Im disgusted how some of the wealthiest people in the world dont care. They let it go to shit.
Yes, I know the list is long, but another person claiming to be invited to a party that night was author Jerzy Kosinski (author of "Being There" and featured in the film "Reds"). Shesh, how big is that list? That's awful people would use such a horrible tragedy to gain attention.
i was in the navy stationed at camp pendleton and having read healter skelter cielo drive was one of the first places i visited i was there a handfull of times between 80 -82 i would show friends and family when they visited me
Thanks, Scott, for the video. I wasn't aware so many people tried to include themselves into this tragedy. :/ I wish you could/would buy it or someone would buy it and gift it to you.
My only wish, is that you could have toured 10050 Cielo Drive. Maybe there would have been a chance of a decent video of the interior of the home! I'll be interested to see who buys the door. I hope it stays in the USA. Thanks for all the hard work you do for us all! ❤
You have the best videos about the Manson case. 7 degrees of Helter Skelter will always be the documentary I point people in the direction of when they ask me about this subject!
It was a second tragedy when the home was demolished, as if trying to completely remove the memory of the deaths of the innocent victims. The house and grounds were beautiful and had that “Old Hollywood” vibe and folklore. I’m also surprised how the house was never renovated or changed much over the years after the murders. You would of thought the door would of been replaced over time. Today when something so horrific happens in a building, immediately afterwards everything is redone to erase any remnants of the event.
I’m 8 1/2 months preggars on a hot August night; I’m pretty sure I want to rest and not have a “party.” Only place Sharon wanted to go was over Sheilah Wells house for some peace/quiet and a/c.
That's why I don't believe they y'all went to El Coyote for dinner for that fact alone as Sharon wasn't well and then to try spruce herself up and get dressed on the hottest night of the year???? 🤦♂️🤔
Thank you for the delicacy you handled this. I've always felt very protective of Sharon and I don't like others trying to use what happened to her for their benefit.

Scott do you have any insight into why the set for the Cielo drive house looks so different in Once Upon a Time? I get that it would be expensive, etc. to recreate it perfectly, and the proximity to Leo’s house needs to be accounted for, but it was surprising how much it deviated from the original, considering how meticulous the accuracy was with everything else in the movie.
The original house was demolished and rebuilt. It is now a huge ugly mansion. Tarantino found a different house he rented that he could use to have the Tate's be close neighbors of Dalton in the film. The film is not a 'true' story
@@nanyabyzness3234Yes I understand the real house no longer exists, but considering the amount of money and effort put into transforming locations around Los Angeles to look period accurate, renovating the pool at Jay’s house to film sequences that didn’t make it into the theatrical cut, etc., they could have easily built sets that resembled the house and used green screens and CGI to fill in the rest. In the context of the accuracy and detail in the rest of the film, it seems like a choice to have the set for the house look different.
@@muckaxe True; it was probably a time-crunch thing. If you look at movies like _Zodiac_ (or any of the Marvel franchise flicks) it's clear that both the speed of production and a vast reduction in cost has kicked "CGI everything!!" into a whole new level in recent years. It would have been relatively trivial to mock up a set and enhance it with computer graphics to be indistinguishable from reality. But shooting schedules rule all, and post-production work can and does fall by the wayside if shooting goes over.
@@nanyabyzness3234I completely agree! That monstrosity greatly diminishes the vistas of Benedict Canyon. Your estimation of it's size is correct as well. I wonder the square footage. Whatever it's obscene.
I'm really happy that you emphasized the truth about all of those phones claiming that they were "invited" to her house. There was no party! People are so weird and want to make themselves and their lives more interesting; kind of sad. The only one I could kind of believe was Patty Duke's story, because it's true that they were close and Sharon may have casually invited her to their El Coyote dinner plans.

Steven Parent was not “the pizza boy”. Poor guy. Not only does he get murdered, he’s the afterthought when anyone discusses it.
So true
I must have missed that. Scott Michaels referred to him as a young visitor to the property around the 5 minute mark.
@@gator2813 he was quoting Mama Cass I believe when she was talking about her visit to the house after the murders that she supposedly told someone about but never mentioned to the police or prosecutors or … anybody apparently.
@@suekelley2109 A lot of stories about this have no basis in fact. That sounds like one of them.
If all the people who should have been there were there, there may very well have been no murders at all.

It's sick that the door was for sale in the first place. Even sicker is someone bought it.
May all those who passed from that horrible night rest in peace.
LOL so it offends your sensibilities?
I’d buy it…..and yet here you are watching🤷🏼♀️
It’s a piece of history. A tragic, horrid piece of history
I would buy that door an parade it around proudly once a year.
Jan, after President Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's theater, in the aftermath of it all, people were taking pieces of the US Flag and other items IN the theater after all
the authorities had focused on the President and the First Lady. There was no security left over to protect the Theater from looting on that very night.
These kinds of things happen in history. Heck, items that involved other well-known or lesser-known actors and actresses have been bought and sold over time through
auction houses.
DUH!

The teacher came in and immediately demanded "Who are you?!"
Not giving his name, he replied "I'm auditing the class." to which she snapped "Oh no you're NOT! Wanna come to a party?"
I thought about it for maybe six seconds and realized that if I missed the school bus, I had no way of getting home!
The most interesting thing was hearing that among the bikers , low level drug dealers, car thieves etc ,
Manson was considered a piss ant and annoying little waif etc - the girls were rude, disrespectful and had horrible BO .

Polansky disrespected Paul & Sharon's memory. I have no use for him.

Scott, you are the master, and I will never tire of hearing you talk about this.
Thank you for sharing this. Still so heartbreaking. And for those who claimed to have been invited to a "party" that night but couldn't make it, should have felt ashamed. RIP to those Souls who past 8/8/1969
The same thing with 9/11. So many people who "were supposed to have been on one of the planes, but they "missed their flight."
“Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” was the closest to getting the door correct.
Great movie
I ADORE that closing sentiment. Some people are so resistant to reality that just the notion of having these items in existence really chaps their butts, but I agree that's it's important to remember these things and these people, even if it's not rose colored perfection.
The book you flipped thru looks like a must read! Very cool.
The connection with Roman’s family tragedies def was a new connection I never thought about. Thank u for the video
Thank you for this video. You told the story as it was in short form. Very very informative. I have been following this since it happened and STILL can't wrap my head around it.
Me also !
Another "ghost story" comes courtesy of Tori Amos, who was visiting NIN while they were recording. She says she decided to cook a chicken in the oven, but realized after 1 hour that the chicken was still cold 😱 (she probably just didn't light the pilot).
Yes I heard that too!
Weird that they wouldn't just order take out......@@CathyRas65
😂 the horror
Steve McQueen was a Marine veteran - if he’d gone maybe things could have turned out differently
Unless he was armed he'd be another victim
haha. he'd have been the first to go.
Makes you wonder if more guests arrived, would that have scared away the killers. Regardless, it was a tragic event. RIP to the victims.
@@DevonRexLady I am fascinated with history.
@@DevonRexLadySo what why are ppl like this
@@clarkharvell5242i agree
You destoying it will do NOTHING!!!!
Old stove needed a new thermo couple..a safety device keeps the gas from coming on if the pilot light isnt lit
@@seanscott7070St. Charles Avenue is NOT IN the French Quarter.
They love to record in haunted houses and put the spirits on their records
Boy, that charles guy was so, so twisted. That's a morbid relic of history - one I would not want to own. For your consideration; had all the aforementioned showed up that night, that carnage might never have taken place. It would've been very difficult to kill so many people. Manson's minions might have seen what they were up against and had second thoughts at the challenge of dispatching so many.
They would have come back another night
@renatawarec that may very well have been the case. But you don't know that to a certainty. Who knows what his rabid, unpredictable impulses would have led him to orchestrate, failing an assault on that fateful night.
Scott Goes above and beyond in everything he does!
It's the ending we wish we had 😢
Hey Scott, its the Liberace L guy. Awesome video!! I was just thinking about the tour you took me on years ago when we would meet up at the Starbucks and head out from there. All you had was the Schlitzie tattoo, I think. Anyway, just saying hi, and wishing you well.
Good to see you! I think of you when I go through my LEE files! Glad you are well!
Pretty cool you posted this on the 54th anniversary of the murders. Great video!
Another AMAZING video that just sucked me right in!!! You Rascal, you!! Love your videos and appreciate soooo very much the time and effort you put into them! Thank you so much for sharing your work with us!!! Big ol hugs and love from MamaJane in South Carolina
This is such a tragedy. Rest In Peace.
The door is a piece of history well worth preserving.
As always, wonderful video Scott.
Thanks!Scott Michaels for all the work and dedication you put into all the videos 📷📷
Thank you so much, Zahn! Wow!
@@DearlyDepartedTours your welcome
Scott another great video. Thank you. There was another actress who fell to a strange death on Cielo Dr. Was wondering if you could shine some light on the life and terrible death discovery of Yvette Vickers? And again thank you for your videos.
Vickers was found in her home on Westwanda Drive, near Cielo Drive.
Amazing how you arent horrified how old Hollywood is gone. Im glad your keeping it alive. Im disgusted how some of the wealthiest people in the world dont care. They let it go to shit.
Nice job Scott "well done"! Thank you for your time and dedication.👍😎👍😎👍🌟💓🌟💜🌟💛🌟💚🌟💙🌟💙🌟😁
Man a lot of celebrities were all of a sudden "tired" that fateful night....
Yeah how convenient 🤦♂️🤔
They were more likely busy. Everyone in the industry worked full time hours or overtime.
Yes, I know the list is long, but another person claiming to be invited to a party that night was author Jerzy Kosinski (author of "Being There" and featured in the film "Reds"). Shesh, how big is that list? That's awful people would use such a horrible tragedy to gain attention.
Scott, you write so well and read with such a fabulous cadence that I could listen to you read the phone book. Thank you for another fantastic video.
My mother in law Claudia was at the house the night before talking to Sharon Tate about horses for sale
Wow!
Sure
*There we’re no horses
i was in the navy stationed at camp pendleton and having read healter skelter cielo drive was one of the first places i visited i was there a handfull of times between 80 -82 i would show friends and family when they visited me
Thanks for a great video, today marks 54 yrs...its such a sad story. 😢
Important and relevant report from you today Scott.
For some unknown reason this story about Manson and what his animals did to those people, always gives me the chills 😢😮
Animals don't do such things, only human scum.
pls don´t say animals-they were monsters-animals would never do this not even carnivorous animals
@@barbaraschneider7922 : Barbara I’m sorry, you are right!!! Animals wouldn’t do this 🥲. Monsters 👺 do!! 😡
Thanks, Scott, for the video. I wasn't aware so many people tried to include themselves into this tragedy. :/ I wish you could/would buy it or someone would buy it and gift it to you.
I think a Go Fund Me would work, especially with as many subscribers as Scott has.
Huge party and all kinds of people invited, what are the odds that absolutely noone showed up. There was no party.
My only wish, is that you could have toured 10050 Cielo Drive. Maybe there would have been a chance of a decent video of the interior of the home!
I'll be interested to see who buys the door. I hope it stays in the USA.
Thanks for all the hard work you do for us all! ❤
The door sold for $127,000.
@jillgross6232 There already is video footage of the interior of the house …and why would it matter that door stayed in the US or not?
@@danielreyes6225because it's U.S. history. I thought the answer would have been obvious but common sense isn't so common with you, apparently. 🙄🤦😂🤡
A star studded party where no one showed. Gotta love Hollywood. Sigh.
Abigail Folger's bed was recently auctioned as well. Weird that the door was still around considering the house was torn down decades ago.
You have the best videos about the Manson case.
7 degrees of Helter Skelter will always be the documentary I point people in the direction of when they ask me
about this subject!
Great video, Scott. Terrible to think about even all these years later.
Great story as always Uncle Scott. I don't think there was a party. 😊 I hope you and Troy are doing great.
Hi Scott. Your video was so interesting and well done! What a sad anniversary. Thank you for another amazing video.
My Father's birthday is on 8/8 he's since passed 30 years ago. But I never asked my father if he knew about it. And it's one of my few regret questions. And I think about it every year. Thank you. Seriously.
I also wondered that. It looks nothing like the cielo house. It kind of bothered me
The original house was demolished and rebuilt.
Another brilliantly narrated video. Thank you sunshine.
This was so good. Thanks for sharing.
Great video as always Scott , the info you share regarding the Manson murders is so spot on and detailed . Keep up the good work and keep putting out superb videos ❤
Great video Scott, thanks for sharing the truth of the events, and not the BS!
Excellent video. I’m sharing on Facebook. Thanks ❤
I wasn't invited....Of course I was 10, and lived in a small town in Texas, but had I been invited I would've went. So it was a close one for me.
I was invited to that party but couldn’t make it because dinner ran late and I was too tired to socialize.
It's a pity that the house was demolished 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
if you had a loved one murdered there, you would want it demolished. The macabre interest is a bit much.
Fascinating research and video Scott. So thorough. It is appreciated. Blessings - Judith 🎵🎭
