I am so inspired by you Huberman! I am a 51 yr old woman who used to be a very athletic person and got follicular lymphoma so my body has changed as far as ability. I had a relaspe last year and now on maintenance treatment so doing well! I am an intellectual and love neuroscience so much and I have shifted focus to that passion since my physical body has limitations. I just watch a few of your videos today that talked about your belief in God and praying. I believe kindness with reality is what we all need and I love that you spoke about it. You inspire me to keep going and your humility is so refreshing! I want to start a podcast so your advice to do what you would do anyway is spot on! Thank you for sharing all this free knowledge and kindness! I love that you are being a vessel for your purpose! That's wonderful

Hey Andrew. Your videos are fantastic and are helping alot. Keep up the work as Im sure its helping many around the world. Will you be creating a video on communication and listening? I think it's important to learn good communication why its so important when speaking to managers seniors presenting or whatever it maybe. Big leaders around the world always have excellent communication I believe we would all benefit from this skill and is a big stumbling block for most for many reasons.

Bummer I missed the Q & A. I’m in PTSD treatment at the VA. Absolutely Doc has helped me through so many avenues already. It’s so frustrating to continue have claw my way into proper techniques of care after falling into addictions and high risk behaviors because I never learned appropriate coping skills. I also have a multitude of trauma and TBIs so thank you sir and I hope pick your brain someday. If you ever get the chance, please reach out to a Dr. Black at the Topeka VA. He is instrumental to the Psychiatric Wellness Recovery Program. I’d LOVE to hear you two talk. Thank you for progressing our species. ❤

In reaction to the second question..... i mean in response to the second question, i am one who has been court ordered to anger management classes and they all pretty much say the same thing, Is to notice the physical warning signs first so that you are aware that you are becoming angry ( heavy breathing, talking fast, clenched fist, etc). The simple act of just being aware that its happening gives you a chance to pause and just not do anything but breathe
So the protocol or practice is,
When agitated, we pause, then respond
    Instead of just instantly reacting
    Hope this helps someone

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
02:33 🧠 Motivation for Guest Series with Paul Conti
    - Dr. Huberman initiated the series with psychiatrist Paul Conti due to Conti's expertise in trauma and profound insights into the unconscious mind.
    - Conti's vast expertise extends beyond trauma, covering the unconscious mind and its teachings, emphasizing the three main places where it imparts useful insights.
    - The motivation was to make Conti's valuable insights and practices, such as mirror work and structured introspection, accessible for enhancing mental health independently.
07:26 🌊 Enhancing Emotional Resilience and Responses
    - Dr. Huberman shares tools for reducing stress in real time, emphasizing the importance of practices away from triggering situations.
    - Discusses the threshold for stress response, highlighting the role of good self-care, morning routines, and practices for maintaining emotional resilience.
    - Acknowledges the impact of online interactions on behavior and emphasizes the need for practices independent of income level.
12:50 ✨ Brain Activity during Inspiration
    - Dr. Huberman discusses the importance of diverse experiences for fostering inspiration, quoting "no input, no output" as a key principle.
    - Recommends dedicating time to activities without external stimuli to allow raw experiential materials to combine and trigger unique ideas.
    - Acknowledges that the neural basis of inspiration is not well-understood but distinguishes between awe and delight in the context of brain activity.
16:47 ☀️ Fighting Seasonal Depression in Canadians
    - Explores the circannual rhythm, focusing on the role of melatonin in the brain's response to changing day lengths during different seasons.
    - Advises Canadians to extend morning bright light exposure as days get shorter to counteract seasonal depression.
    - Recommends using artificial light sources, like a 900 Lux drawing tablet, to offset the impact of reduced sunlight exposure during the winter.
21:47 🌞 Light Exposure for Winter Adaptation
    - Increase bright light exposure early in the day in winter.
    - Gradually extend the duration or bring the light source a bit closer.
    - 900 Lux tablets or bright incandescent bulbs can be effective.
    22:44 🧠 Neuroplasticity and Psychedelics
    - Neuroplasticity can be triggered by various factors like focus, psilocybin, or MDMA.
    - Clinical trials show promising results for psychedelics in treating depression and other disorders.
    - Increases in serotonin play a key role in the neuroplastic effects of substances like MDMA and psilocybin.
28:47 🏋️‍♂️ Movement Protocol for Desk Workers
    - Aim for 150-200 minutes of Zone 2 cardio per week.
    - Include resistance training 3 times a week and other mobility exercises.
    - The Solus push-up, a simple heel-raising exercise, can help combat the effects of prolonged sitting.
32:05 ⏳ Perception of Time and Morning Meditation
    - The Solus push-up can mimic some effects of walking and positively impact glucose and insulin levels.
    - A morning perceptual exercise involves shifting focus between internal and external stimuli to manipulate the perception of time.
    - Training the nervous system to switch between different time domains can improve task-switching abilities.

    Dear Dr Huberman,
A few questions considering breathing and the physiological sigh:
    1. What is the difference between breathing into the diaphragm and the lungs?
    2. Is it beneficial to hold in the breath after inhalation during the physiological sigh? (As they do in Prana Yama)
    3. Is it important and beneficial to make a sighing sound during the exhalation of a physiological sigh? Can you make any sound or no sound at all and get the same results?
    4. Is there a healthy limit to the number of physiological sighs in a row? Is there a risk of hyperventilation? What is an optimal number per day?
    5. Can breathing techniques (ie Qi-Gong, Prana Yama) improve brain and blood oxygenation? Can they heal the body and mind?
    6. Can slowing down your breath increase your lifespan?
Thank you for all your amazing work! 🙏

Such a nice guy! I found so interesting that last focusing exercise. I usually find my connection to the night very pleasing whenever I stop myself looking at the huge dark sky with its total silence... without humans (I'm definitely a night creature). My mind really diverges. It's like I'm traveling without moving. For example, I focus on a star and imagining how big that must be if looked up close... and I also do the inversion by realizing how insignificantly small I am compared to all of that visual spectacle. That feels great... although not doing this in the morning...

Dr. Huberman, can you explain why my 2am brain is different than my 2pm brain ? In the morning my thoughts and mood is way more optimistic, hopefully and grateful, when I can't sleep, my brain focuses on all the things I've lost, the things I haven't accomplished and things and people I miss. I'd really like to understand what happens at night, that's not happening during the waking hours, that causes me to feel like I'm 2 different thinking minds.

I feel like I know all huberman protocols and I have watched all his podcast episodes. I need people ask new questions that havent been covered in his podcast. I need new interesting questions that blow my mind. 2nd question is so interesting to me, I noticed I dont get angry when I do eat plant based, just a few eggs/fish and very low carb but still eat moderate amount of fruits. I lost weight doing that but I didnt get trigged easily. Now, I am back on carb (tho no added sugar n no prossesed foods but I eat sourdough bread n pasta), yeah I get trigged easily now but I dont really explodr but I get angry quickly.

Everyone should learn how to lucid dream

    • @CursedWheelieBin
      @CursedWheelieBin 4 месяца назад

Though curious, I’m openly skeptical because I know almost nothing about it and it sounds too much like a sales pitch whenever I do hear about it. By sales pitch I mean that it sounds too simple and too good to be true, with no apparent risks or downsides (that we know of at least).
Perhaps that also says something about my outlook, so please forgive me if it sounds like I’m being critical. I’m not. As I say: I know nothing.
I first heard about it in a bizarre RUclips comment in an ASMR video. Some guy claimed that he would purposefully walk around in the environments featured in the Lord of the Rings movies. Clearly the guy was desperately attempting to escape reality and hide from his real life. It just sounded very avoidant and unhealthy.
Is normal, regular healthy sleep not enough?

hi Professor Huberman, this week I have watched two videos you have posted about light and its effects. I would like to know if there’s any benefit from having direct sunlight flow into one’s office. Does one need to be outside to get the benefits of early morning sunlight?. yet at other times I’ve heard from Dermatologist that one could get a sunburn through Glass. Looking for some clarification. I’m sorry if you covered this and I missed it.

The cost is not money spent, it is time.

Sir Andrew what we have to do people from other countries to ask you Questions.

You know, when Andrew reiterates over and over, everyone should know these things, free of charge. You have to wonder if SOME people know these things but only because they paid a cost to. In One Piece, Luffy activates Gear 1 for the first time by observing his enemies kicking their heels many times in an instant, which is basically what Andrew describes here. There is so much that happens every second of every day that we are completely unaware of that keeps us alive and thriving, the fact that within each living person is an unconscious mind sustaining your life to the point you just have to eat shit and sleep your way through your whole lifecycle is a testament to grand design. We are all incredible. Yet coming together is incredulous. I’ll be left imagining forever.
