Spoilers if you haven't read Tigerheart's Shadow: Tigerheart's dead body was dragged across the territory's to the moonstone and randomly came back to life to be leader. At this point anything is possible xD
Why I think Mapleshade is a popular character is because she is definitly got a great backstory, an actual reason for her to be evil. She lost everything and wants revenge and in that case is relatable and you completely got it through right here.
Well put you nailed it I think! I've been wondering this myself, but as you put it she's a really tragic and unique type of villain with relatable emotions. I certainly fall into the she's overrated camp since I guess I'm just more a fan of some of the first few villains, but thinking about it now I certainly am glad she's in the series as she's a breath of fresh air as a villain.
LZRD WZRD hey! I'm glad more people see mapleshade as a great villian. I finished reading mapleshade's vengeance, and I was IMPRESSED! If you haven't already, you should read it.
HoneyWolf well, I've only seen a few of his videos, so no, I didn't know that. Sorry, I'm not very up to date on his videos. Not to mention, I said if he HADN'T read it, he should. If he did, no problem.
Honestly, i think she is popular because she is the first original villian who doesnt want to be leader, no, she wants revenge, but she doesnt stop there. She doesnt fight with only claws, she fights with a cunning brain and a manipulative attitude. She keeps appearing, because she doesnt wanna be forgotten, and she succeed villian. She made crookstar believed she caused deaths, she made tigerstar one of the most popular and seemingly succeeding. She made oakstar believes he was cursed, by killing his daughter, pinestar’s fate, tigerstar’s fate, thistleclaw’s ambition, goosefeather’s slight terror and many more, you could blame her for killing Silverstream (not really) willowbreeze (not really) oakheart (not really) silverstream’s siblings (not really) brambleberry (not really) shellheart ( not really) rainflower (not really) I know she didnt exactly killed them, it was fate, but she did made crookedstar believe so. And also spottedleaf, ravenwing, appledusk, frecklewish (oakstar’s daughter), and pretty much all the ones tigerstar killed, which i know she didnt killed, but she played a big role, going back to turning thistle evil, thus leading him to make tiger evil bla bla.
@@aadraws614 well ya know the saying *mans* best friend? well cats r womens best friend xD im joking of course since that saying means man as in the race of men its still a little funny

Since I often buy and read Warriors books out of order (I'm living in Poland so not all of them are always available), my first experience with Mapleshade was Tigerstar's Fury. She felt so forcefully inserted into a story that didn't need her that for a long time I believed her to be an overrated characters. However, my perspective of her changed once I read Mapleshade's Vengeance. It is an amazing story and one of my favorite novellas. Now Mapleshade is one of my favorite villains in Warriors series.
The reason i love mapleshade is because she's such a fuckin meme when you think about it Yes she had a fucked life but she is sO EXTRA about her revenge She doesn't stop after they are dead oh no she wants their entire bloodline to suffer Name one other Villian who's done that, even Tigerstar chilled out once he had enough power, she has quite a bit of power in the dark forest and she still wants them to suffer and die And i love her because she has such a different type of villian,I've always had a soft spot for manipulative villains (which is why Ursula as my favorite Disney antagonist) and her character and even design blended so well with that category I judt couldn't not love her Great video though! I seriously love your content!
A narrative reason as to why Mapleshade appears in Goosefeather's Curse could be that Mapleshade doesn't want to be forgotten. StarClan cats fade whenever the alive cats forget about them: This is why the founding leaders are still in StarClan, though their spirits are very faint and hardly noticeable. As to why she trains him for a brief amount of time- well, she could want to corrupt Goosefeather because he has an influence on Pinestar, Oakstar's son. By instilling a violent mindset into Goosefeather he could become irrational and harsh, and misinterpret omens into the most vicious outcome possible- that instead of fulfilling a prophecy the intended way, it would be 'solved' with battles or unnecessary sacrifices. But, as we all know, Goosefeather isn't an ordinary medicine cat and misinterprets omens anyway. The point could be that Mapleshade wanted Goosefeather to put Pinestar and ThunderClan into unnecessary battles, but justifying it by saying it's needed to fulfill a prophecy or omen. Thus, Pinestar suffers terrible loss, and Mapleshade's revenge on Oakstar's family is quenched. Now, onto Spottedleaf's Heart- this one isn't as much of a stretch, I think. When Spottedpaw enters the Dark Forest we see Mapleshade Thistleclaw. She could be training *him* specifically because Thistleclaw is Tigerpaw's mentor, and has a big influence on him. Mapleshade may be instilling a grotesque mindset and battle techniques on Thistleclaw so it gets taught back to Tigerpaw, who is related to Pinestar, thus related to Oakstar. Thistleclaw has violent tendencies but as far we know, it was gained by training in the Dark Forest. She may have been doing this and planning Tigerstar's tyranny from the moment he was born. It's also supported by a scene in Pinestar's Choice, when Pinestar has a dream where StarClan is telling him to kill Tigerkit. How could StarClan know this? They could've heard it from Mapleshade. A StarClan cat could've been walking by the border between StarClan and the Dark Forest and overhear Mapleshade planning to herself, though this is a stretch. Back to Spottedleaf- it's quite poetic for Spottedleaf to have met Mapleshade in the Dark Forest decades before her spirit was demolished by her. She forgot about Mapleshade, who wants to be remembered. Spottedleaf is paying the price for forgetting- for not siding with Thistleclaw and the Dark Forest. Again, these are just my thoughts and are probably nothing more than digging too deep in the lore. But these can be decent justifications for having Mapleshade appear in so many eBooks. Aside from fan service, obviously.
I like her only because I feel bad for her. As well as her manipulative side. It wasn't fair that everyone turned against her when many cats have done the same thing she did. I guess it was because she was not as well known and popular among the Clan. And wasn't close to anyone in her Clan from what I saw.
I must add that Mapleshade lived a few generations before the first Warrior series took place: back in those days the warrior laws were extremely strict and racistic, and all cats who made couples with cats from rival clans were considered traitors. It's very similar to the human society: 100 years ago any interracial relationship in the Western society would be considered completely unspeakable and sinister. But after some decades people started to become more open-minded, and today you see many interracial couples on a daily basis. The same happens in the books: as time goes by, the warrior laws become more and more liberal, and more and more cats fall for and make couples with cats who belong to other clans than themselves. If Mapleshade lived in Firestar's era, I'm sure nobody would kick her and her kits out of the clan: yes, some cats might dislike her for being together with a River Clan cat, but she would remain a part of the Thunder Clan and her kits would be raised as Thunder Clan warriors. So it's just a matter of time/era: unfortunately, Mapleshade lived in a very bigoted, intolerant and racist time/society, and that's why it all ended up so badly for both her and many other cats.
Late to the party as usual, but along with the rules being stricter, it was likely because Mapleshade didn’t exactly make good choices. She let the Clan believe that Birchface was the real father of her kits, not Appledusk. Birchface was Frecklewish’s brother along with Oakstar’s son. Frecklewish in particular treated Mapleshade nicely, and not once did Mapleshade try to get rid of the rumors. She even allowed it to happen because she thought it would keep her kits safe. Lying and later finding out the truth likely opened old wounds for both Oakstar and Frecklewish, especially after Frecklewish tried so hard to care for Mapleshade and her kits. None of the other cats in forbidden relationships lied in that way. While Bluestar may come to mind, you have to remember that Bluestar didn’t say that her kits’ father was a dead cat (who could not confirm or deny it). Thrushpelt willingly agreed to be the kits’ ‘father’, but Birchface was dead. He could not say anything about it.
I love her as a villain. I mean, for the other who acts by ambition, it's really easy to just say "they're the bad guy, they're meant to be bad guy". But with her, it feels so much more realistic. She isn't bad just like that, her story really shows how someone can end up doing bad things because of what happened to him. It feel more like something that can happen, maybe even to you. It's easy to say you won't kill someone out of amibition, it's less easy to say you don't do big mistakes if your heart is really broken. How many people in pain for the death of their child would want to see the killer dead? It's like a "let's put this character in this situation and see how he would react" not just a "let's say this character could kill others for his own plans"
Amazing video! Thanks for using my art! Honestly, Mapleshade is a really interesting character to me. I know there might be some people who like her just because she's a female but even if she was a male she would be equally as interesting. I have always loved how Mapleshade isn't a typical villain who didn't want to become leader. In my opinion she was written pretty well.
Not really about the topics in your analysis vids, but seriously these are so nice to listen to while animating or just doing homework X) I feel like i'm actually having a conversation about these characters (mmm mapleshade mm) Honestly these are just organized and presented SO well that I just...can't understand how you start when planning out an analysis! Amazing talent that you show, as well as hard work and dedication to these books and characters I just--AHHH! Keep it up wolfie and now we can count down the days until 2k!!!
I really loved this, you have a good voice for lengthy speeches and you make a lot of good points, personally I think that it's always been a mixture of Fan-Service and The Erins Themselves liking Mapleshade that has made her appear so much.
SO IM A MASSIVE JERK AND I COMPLETELY ACCIDENTALLY RIPPED OF TOM! My fault, I should have checked if a video on this topic already existed beforehand. If you are ok with strong language i highly encourage you to check out his video on the same topic ruclips.net/video/1mysvmwHopM/видео.html
I think one of the main reasons why everyone likes mapleshade is because of how real mapleshade's vengeance was. We see everything that happens to Mapleshade and feel genuinely angry at Appledusk, and the other cats, so much so that we actually start to root for their demise. But I think what the book portrays the best is revenge. Usually, when someone complete's their rage of revenge, they still don't feel complete. That is probably why Mapleshade was never satisfied for her bloodshed on the clans. She always wanted more death and revenge for her kits.
Thanks a lot for featuring my artwork! ^^ I personally relate to Mapleshade (and even talk about her in therapy, mind you) simply because I also suffer a similar backstory to her...unlike to the gender piece which I'm actually neither her nor my other favourite, Thistleclaw's, genders. I mean I don't have children that I've lost but I've been through the same hard feelings of being rejected for being different! Same goes for the manipulative side (I'm trying to be less manipulative nowadays)! Also one fear that I have is going completely Mapleshade in real life (a few times I can remember where I almost, ALMOST did exactly what she did)! So thank goodness I haven't became the real life human version of her!
This is was a great video! I wish we had seen more of Mapleshade's backstory though. The novella starts out with Maple already knowing Appledusk, and it would've been nice to see more of her past. I do like her as a villain, for all the reasons you mentioned. Also, good luck with the book!
I love Mapleshade's character although I dislike how she's overused. Thank you so much for doing a video on this! I really appreciate you taking time to make these videos!
i love mapleshade, i kinda feel bad for her because of her backstory and how appledusk was a jerk, but she still shouldn't have done THAT much just because her mate cheated on her and accused her of drowning their kits in my opinion XD this analysis is very well done! keep up the good work ;)))
for me Mapleshade will always be my favroite, she was the one that got me interested in warrior cats and her backstory is so dramatic, sad, heartbreak, and a great mix of character promise. Anyone else?
Good thing about Mapleshade: She was a better mother then Rainflower She was SUPER loyal to her clan (other then having a mate from another clan) She killed the cat I hate (Appledusk) She gives Ravenwing’s dead body to crows (I forgot the name of the first cat she killed but I think it was Ravenwing
Personally it made sense to me that she would mentor thistleclaw in the dark Forest. She wants to destroy both thunder and riverclan. And what better way to do it that by manipulating either battle hungry bastards or emotionally wounded and socially rejected cats like crookedjaw who, if not for his accident, would have retained his storm suffix. Both types of people are very easy for someone like mapleshade to manipulate because she viciously attacks the root problem: validation &/or self acceptance.
AAAAA IT'S SO GOOD Chilly's sprites are amazing, your scriptwriting just gets better aand your points are beautifully made. We'll get you into Stardorm yet!
Yes !!! this is what I was thinkun while I read her book. Its so refreshing and new that I loved her. She is my favorite cat next to Jayfeather. Even if she is a villain.
I like mapleshade because she had a point, why didn't star clan stop her when she was meting in secret? when she fell in love? or when her kids were drowning? They don't do nothing until they realized it was a problem, she trusted in star clan and they betrayed her. But with all of this life gave her a chance with the barn cat but she rejected,so it was her fault too.
Sweet my art was in the vid! I think the points you suggested are very interesting, in my opinion, there should be more female villains, just so we have more relatable characters to make animations about 😂
Mapleshade is a great villain, but an AU where shes a starclan warrior who rescues drowining kits and guides outcast mothers would have been glorious Imagine her helping yellowfang, sasha, bluestar, leafpool, and dovewing, guiding brokenkit, saving yellowfangs other kits, saving mosskit, guiding hollyleaf, watching over shadowsight, Maybe even persuading starclan to change the warrior code to allow halfclan relationships I mean MAN bluestar and mapleshade are two sides of the same coin along with yellowfang and leafpool. They both had a riverclan mate, they both chose to give the kits to riverclan, they both lost a kit/kits in the process. They both had immense grief from the entire experience Yellowfang and leafpool were both medicine cats who had forbidden kits, both their kits had lives that would shape the clans futures,
"Animal books are more often than not targeted towards girls, and we often relate to characters of the same gender" Me, who discovered why Leopardstar became my favorite leader when I read OotS fourth apprentice allegiances and just assumed she was a strong, independent woman: 👁👄👁
It’s cause I relate to her and a lot of moms do to. Because my mom would kill if I died because of something. Plus she is a female villain. SERIOUSLY ERINS, MAKE MORE FEMALE VILLAINS!
I just read your comic!! It's amazing, and I love ember, he reminds me of myself since I was born blind in my left eye and only see light in it, like if I covered both eyes I only would see the light/shadow/outline/silhouette. Keep up the great work!
Hella yeah a new video with your voice ish amazing ;D; XD I suppose that makes sense I haven't even read her books yet guuhu I hated her souly for her complex design oops
Another great analysis video my dude! And this pretty much sums it all up. Mapleshade is and always has been one of my favourite villains, even though I do think she is overrated at some degree, but its always been the fact that she had a reason to be 'evil' that drew me to her character. Some villains just have a greed for power, and are just evil for the sake of it, which doesnt make much sense and kindnof just annoyed me more than anything. Obviously what she did was inexcusable, but whilst I was reading Mapleshade's Vengence, I found myself feeling sympathy for her and even agreeing with what she did as revenge, just because I could understand how she felt. Anyway, like I said, I loved this video, keep up the good work! (And ill have to make some art for you sooN)
I love love love Mapleshade! I've read the Mapleshade novella about 5 times, I can never get tired of it! I really liked this analysis, it really explains why people love her so much!
Mapleshade is over used because of fan service and she is the ONLY somewhat major female villain,Other than that she is a good character. In the Last Hope she is still alive(well dead but still around),she can make a possible appearance in later books(hopefully not) Everyone wants a female villain or a villain that is understandable for their actions. If you can see that someone feels injustice when its not their fault, the readers cant help but feel sorry and then smile when" justice is served" . Reading along Mapleshade's point of view, you cant help but side with her just a tad bit. With Tigerclaw,we know he had done wrong and still you can tell he just wants power, its one of those books that readers read just to know how a certain event happen(Tigerclaw becoming Shadow Clan leader...how does that happen?!) A reason many people like Ivypool or Hollyleaf is because Ivypool felt out shined by her sister and Hollyleaf whole world change when her very existence breaks everything she believes in and tries to right a error only to backfire in her face. Injustice is key to any good scene, character,or plot Deaths like Stonefur,Silverstream,Needtail and Tigerstar Stonefur-killed for following code, born to parents he never knew, killed in the very place he proudly called home Silverstream- Never had a mother,Loved a tom in another clan and was forbidden, despite going against her father she loved strongly and was willing to risk it all for Greystripe, died from child birth but still regrets nothing,"Death to they part" a bittersweet thing for a forbidden love for one alive and other death but still love strongly Needtail-........sacrifice......(didnt read the books but I know what happened) Tigerstar- Everyone wanted Fireheart/star to defeat the books lead up to and then for a new villain to kill Tigerstar like he was nothing instead of Firestar,it was a shock and people loved it. Injustice can be used to make people cry or love characters
Wow. You've earned a subscriber. I am trying to put this in simple words; so it's... kind of hard.I personally feel Mapleshade as Peggy, from Hamilton. A character that is used opinionally way to much and gets extreme attention. For Peggy's side, more people can make things about _JOHN_ or _ALEXANDER_. There are few things for them, when you think about it. Same with Angelica, nobody seems to know how much heartbreak this, honestly, sweet character doesn't get.She is seen as "underrated" by the Hamilton fandom, but doesn't anyone notice that more people like her? Sure, she's sweet and gets a few parts in Schuyler Sisters and then is left with only the part of Mariah, but she gets multiple back-ups. Sure; characters like John get their own songs, and Alex sings a lot of parts. But look at Angelica. She gets Satisfied; sure. But she's _heart-broken_ and I honestly think she should have the song "Congratulations" into the musical. (Although I do know Lin only has 47 songs because that's the age Alexander died at). Anyways; how did I get on the topic of Hamilton? Back to the _main_ topic. Warriors; I think their should be pmvs/art/maps on characters like _GRAYSTRIPE_ who get nothing, yet are strong and brave. (I am on Dawn, so.. yeah) There are cats who deserve so much love. Snowkit, Dappletail, Cloudtail, Cody, Sasha, Tigerstar, so on and so fourth.
Even though I like her novella and how she was utilized in Crookedstar's Promise, some other books she feels like she's just there because she's a recognizable villain, like in Tigerclaw's Fury where Tigerclaw's essentially turned from the biggest baddie in the forest driven by the desire to be leader and put the clans into turmoil as he makes them fall in line to what he thinks they should truly be in his eyes to just being a pawn that's easily led around by the whiskers. It was kind of depressing even though he wasn't my favorite character but it really took the edge away from him.
Before I got into warriors, the first video I watched of warriors was the Toxic maple shade map, and of course watching it without any context was like trying to learn 10 languages at once, a year later I finally got to read her novella, and she is the most inspirational characters for artists, I don’t know how many maps there are of this girl but more than ashfur I’d say, on getting her revenge she is driven by her love for her kits because she can feel them suffering, so in a way she was never bad, just wanted to end her children’s suffering
I love maple shade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is my fav villain!!!!!!! If fact, I was think of working on a backstory of one of her kits having children in StarClan, but bc those kits are technically “living” they end up leaving StarClan and each one (there were four) joining a different clan. Maple shade finds out, and desperately tries to find a way to meet them and her own kits by using this new found fact about kits who are born in StarClan, with two StarClan parents.
Remember everything I’m saying is my opinion. Mapleshades reason we’re not justified, none of the villains are. Why did she kill FreckleWish? FreckleWish was most definitely thinking the patrol would save them, she can’t swim that would’ve cause 4th deaths. Freckle was definitely scared of water after seeing birch face die. Okay we’re moving onto RavenWing. This is simple he was doing his job. He didn’t think OakStar would’ve exiled them all. Okay, OakStar I agree on a bit of stuff maybe he shouldn’t of sent her in a storm as the kits could’ve died from the rain. He probably thought her pelt was big enough to keep them safe but still he should’ve waited til the storm past thought he was a good character with a good heart. AppleDusk, he was not completely innocent but he didn’t deserve death. AppleDusk did the right thing he told his clan straightforward what he did. And he truly was sorry. ReedShine was completely innocent. That’s all I have to say about her. Now Mapleshade herself, she was pure evil. There are other ways to deal with grief. I don’t remember his name but I think it was sparrow. He was kind. Mapleshade handled things terribly. She was bad. It wasn’t AppleDusk fault. She shouldn’t of brought her kits across across a RIVER in the middle of a FLOOD. It was her fault they died in that way. Anyways that’s all
i favorite maple shade because of how rellatable she is i love rellatable villains because there showing what can actually happen if people let there emotions get the better of them
i read these books like crazy at a kid but fell off around omen of the stars and recently decided to read them again and i feel so insanely lost with some of this
I really think it’s just because she’s one of the only female villains. And because people loveeee excusing her actions because they feel bad for her. Just my thoughts.
I am so behind on these books but thanks rp a Take A Hint map I know about Sleekwhisker. Kills because she can. Not due to trauma or anything like you’d see in many Creepypasta (Jeff is still OP), but because SHE CAN AND WANTS TO. Straight savage
> She's only a background villain I mean, she has her own novella (Brokentail, for comparison, doesn't even have any books from his point of view). She's also basically the one that started everything. She's the oldest Dark Forest cat and has recruited many new villains as well as affected the lives of many major characters (e.g. Crookedstar). I wouldn't say she's a background villain; she's clearly quite significant in the Warriors universe.
When it's revealed that Mapleshade is whispering evil thoughts into Tigerclaw's head, I imagined an alternative reality where Mapleshade doesn't do that, and thought about how that would affect Tigerclaw. Might Pinestar not have left and been a better father to his son? Might Sunstar had a full nine lives? Would Tigerclaw have actually been a well respected warrior with just a dash of aggression that Thistleclaw taught him? Would Tigerclaw have become ThunderClan's leader because of his actual skill and bravery instead of leading TigerClan through ruthless bloody violence?
1:08 actually Bee, Rainflower, Lizardstripe, rushtooth and Sparrowfether are female villains three of them are in the dark forest and all are arguably more evil than she was.
i have an AU where the idea mapleshade have that her kits can't go to Starclan unless she kill the people she did'nt like isi'nt because she alucinate the kit's spirit wanting her to do so (one of the erin's said it was alucinations ^^) My AU is that the kits don't accept well their young death and kept go in the living world as ghost because they don't feel like they are fitting in Starclan. But they did'nt notice that their mom kept seeing them and that it was hauting her and it drived her crazy and she begain to think her kits are stuck on the living world and want her to kill the cats resonsable for their deaths so they can be free to go to Starclan. So Mapleshade became crazy murder and all that, and the kits regret not staying in starclan and think it's their fault...
I have a thought What if mapleshade never told thunderclan about the relationship with appledusk or appledusk never "killed" the two cats birchface and flowerpaw. Or she pulled a blue star.
I kinda wish we could get a book about Tigerstar and to see how he grew up and why he hated kittyoets and wanted to rule the clans. I can imagine it had to do with Lonestar leaving to become a kittyoets and maybe that or influence from his mother made him hate kittypets and half clan cats so bad because of the pain pinestar brought him. Maybe he was abused or ridiculed growing up like broken star was. It would be really interesting but I doubt theyll ever make a book about cat hitler any time soon
Mapleshade was a side character in Omen of Stars, She isn't is talked about in the first few series. She manipulates Crookedjaw,Thistleclaw. Mapleshade appears in Bluestar's Prophecy, Since Thistleclaw. Or wasn't that Crookedstar's Promise? Since Crookedjaw randomly walks in a conversation and says "guess what my dudes, I'm deputy." Thistleclaw then says "the hell, I didn't train for nothing!"
Mapleshade is my most favorite Warriors villan. Ive been reading Warriors ever since Middle school and I believe Mapleshade was the only Villan in the series I sympathized with and was actually sad to see die(Even if she did murder a bunch of other cats while she was both dead and alive). I enjoy seeing her in other books and in Maps very much 😊
I like this book series, btw I'm a boy but I had a cat named Oscar and he died and ever since he died I started reading warriors, because graystripe reminds me of oscar
Im still waiting for the moment we get a medicine cat villain, just think this sweet innocent looking she cat medicine cat, who is actually very angry, bitter, filled with vengeance, who ends up causing some sort of sickness or just poisoning cats and hiding it from the clan.
While everyone here is commenting about Mapleshade, I'm going to point out yet again how every son after Oakstar has become leader xD
IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY
ALDERHEART NEXT LEADER
I mean its him, lionblaze or sparkpelt to it aint looking good
Watch it be Alderheart xD I mean hey Alderstar has a good ring to it
wo..
WolfSword87
But Alderheart is a medicine cat *confused screaming*
Spoilers if you haven't read Tigerheart's Shadow:
Tigerheart's dead body was dragged across the territory's to the moonstone and randomly came back to life to be leader. At this point anything is possible xD
Why I think Mapleshade is a popular character is because she is definitly got a great backstory, an actual reason for her to be evil. She lost everything and wants revenge and in that case is relatable and you completely got it through right here.
Jane Pierce yeah and she thought she was doing it for her kits
Laundry Sauce
She WAS doing it for her kits
Agreed

Yeah, Tigerstar is just...ambition. No good backstory.

Hi
This is a underrated comment

Same! I thought warriors was considered to be for Tom boys if for girls.

She doesn't stop after they are dead oh no she wants their entire bloodline to suffer
Name one other Villian who's done that, even Tigerstar chilled out once he had enough power, she has quite a bit of power in the dark forest and she still wants them to suffer and die
And i love her because she has such a different type of villian,I've always had a soft spot for manipulative villains (which is why Ursula as my favorite Disney antagonist) and her character and even design blended so well with that category I judt couldn't not love her
Great video though! I seriously love your content!
I don't particularly like Mapleshade as a character, more like a villain, and for this reason.
Aside from fan service, obviously.
yeah those are some great points, didnt even think of those!!
Welp. You just typed something that no one wants to read because then again, waste of time XD 😂
True. This is going to take me 3 min at least. Lol
@@CDforArts no they fuckin didn't..
Paws The Doggo well not completely but the forgotten thing part kinda was
I like her only because I feel bad for her.
Eustoma no its not that Its because IT WAS A GOOD STORY PLOT LINE :/
Мисс Парик this is really long.... I LOVE IT!
She deserved it. Frecklewish is innocent and I love my spotty baby.
Random.Art.Stuff yeah I agree!
Random.Art.Stuff me too
Not really about the topics in your analysis vids, but seriously these are so nice to listen to while animating or just doing homework X)
I feel like i'm actually having a conversation about these characters (mmm mapleshade mm)
Honestly these are just organized and presented SO well that I just...can't understand how you start when planning out an analysis! Amazing talent that you show, as well as hard work and dedication to these books and characters I just--AHHH!
Keep it up wolfie and now we can count down the days until 2k!!!
I agree! It's really nice listening to analysis while animating ^^
^^
Same here!

Thanks for making my life better! I had a pretty frustrating day. So thanks!
Shut up. I don’t know why you got pinned

*_the smell of _**_-flawed politics-_**_ freedom_*
tbh I would of done the same thing as Mapleshade in Mapleshade's promise, a mother's rage should never be crossed
I personally relate to Mapleshade (and even talk about her in therapy, mind you) simply because I also suffer a similar backstory to her...unlike to the gender piece which I'm actually neither her nor my other favourite, Thistleclaw's, genders.
Wish you luck and happiness! Xx
0:48 In my opinion Tangleburr had her beat with that title, (I do count her as a villian because any cat willing to support brokenstar is a villain)
This is was a great video! I wish we had seen more of Mapleshade's backstory though. The novella starts out with Maple already knowing Appledusk, and it would've been nice to see more of her past. I do like her as a villain, for all the reasons you mentioned. Also, good luck with the book!

*JUMPSCARE*
I love Mapleshade's character although I dislike how she's overused. Thank you so much for doing a video on this! I really appreciate you taking time to make these videos!
i love mapleshade, i kinda feel bad for her because of her backstory and how appledusk was a jerk, but she still shouldn't have done THAT much just because her mate cheated on her and accused her of drowning their kits in my opinion XD
this analysis is very well done! keep up the good work ;)))
It was also because she got exiled from thundering and riverclan didn't accept her and her kits experienced some of it then died so I can feel her
for me Mapleshade will always be my favroite, she was the one that got me interested in warrior cats and her backstory is so dramatic, sad, heartbreak, and a great mix of character promise. Anyone else?
So very true! I really think Warriors needs so more diversity when it comes to villains, because they can't shoehorn Mapleshade into everything.
Because she is heckin' awesome, the only GOOD female villian, and just has such a cool background.
Good thing about Mapleshade:
She was a better mother then Rainflower
She was SUPER loyal to her clan (other then having a mate from another clan)
She killed the cat I hate (Appledusk)
She gives Ravenwing’s dead body to crows (I forgot the name of the first cat she killed but I think it was Ravenwing
4:17 OOMMLL TYSM FOR USING MY THING HECK IM SCREAMING AHH

Personally it made sense to me that she would mentor thistleclaw in the dark Forest. She wants to destroy both thunder and riverclan. And what better way to do it that by manipulating either battle hungry bastards or emotionally wounded and socially rejected cats like crookedjaw who, if not for his accident, would have retained his storm suffix. Both types of people are very easy for someone like mapleshade to manipulate because she viciously attacks the root problem: validation &/or self acceptance.
AAAAA IT'S SO GOOD
Chilly's sprites are amazing, your scriptwriting just gets better aand your points are beautifully made. We'll get you into Stardorm yet!
Cloudflame lol tbh I don't fit into a single one of those dorms at the moment because I do a little bit of all of them
WolfSword87 You can found WolfClan and have people arguing over whether the Clans would know what wolves were or not xD
Cloudflame lol

Tigerclaws Shadow.....
WE NEED IT NOW
Yes !!! this is what I was thinkun while I read her book. Its so refreshing and new that I loved her. She is my favorite cat next to Jayfeather.
Even if she is a villain.
It's so satisfying to watch and listen to these! Your voice is so beautiful!
I love how you credit everything, your theories, your voice :3 and how you draw!
Definitely new sub
Sweet my art was in the vid! I think the points you suggested are very interesting, in my opinion, there should be more female villains, just so we have more relatable characters to make animations about 😂
GreyLynx Splash hopefully with less complex designs
WolfSword87 I agree, the fandom just can’t decide on a consistent design 😂
Thanks for using my art! And great analysis.
Vashuni 129 AAAAAYYYY
(I got banned from a stream saying AAAAYYY ;'))
YOOOOO YOUR POPULAR!!!!!!
I kinda wish we could get a super edition about her, or at least see her grow up and her _full_ story. Anyone else with me?
Mapleshade is a great villain, but an AU where shes a starclan warrior who rescues drowining kits and guides outcast mothers would have been glorious
Imagine her helping yellowfang, sasha, bluestar, leafpool, and dovewing, guiding brokenkit, saving yellowfangs other kits, saving mosskit, guiding hollyleaf, watching over shadowsight,
Maybe even persuading starclan to change the warrior code to allow halfclan relationships
I mean MAN bluestar and mapleshade are two sides of the same coin along with yellowfang and leafpool. They both had a riverclan mate, they both chose to give the kits to riverclan, they both lost a kit/kits in the process. They both had immense grief from the entire experience
Yellowfang and leafpool were both medicine cats who had forbidden kits, both their kits had lives that would shape the clans futures,
I'm always waiting for Maple’Shade maps and he’s my all time favourite character! I love her, her kits and her backstory!
"Animal books are more often than not targeted towards girls, and we often relate to characters of the same gender"
Me, who discovered why Leopardstar became my favorite leader when I read OotS fourth apprentice allegiances and just assumed she was a strong, independent woman: 👁👄👁
Yeah. Great analysis!
Mapleshade:fav cat
Wolfsword87: fav youtuber
You just gained another Subscribbler Wolf ;D I LOVE YOUR ART STYLE >:00000
You also sound pretty young! Keep going, you're doing amazing!
It’s cause I relate to her and a lot of moms do to. Because my mom would kill if I died because of something. Plus she is a female villain. SERIOUSLY ERINS, MAKE MORE FEMALE VILLAINS!
You are literally the cutest ever
I really like your use of the song GreenSleeves at the end and it fits so much!
I just read your comic!! It's amazing, and I love ember, he reminds me of myself since I was born blind in my left eye and only see light in it, like if I covered both eyes I only would see the light/shadow/outline/silhouette. Keep up the great work!
Hella yeah a new video with your voice ish amazing ;D;
XD I suppose that makes sense I haven't even read her books yet guuhu I hated her souly for her complex design
oops
Zeruk Did you see my art in the video? I did the easiest design for her as possible. Lol
Rip why must she be so popular it means I have to suffer with drawing her
Has anyone ever told you how soothing and adoring your voice is? If not, then I'll be the one since your voice is really soothing and adoring
First vid i see from you..
LOVE IT! I LOVE YOUR STYLE WE HAVE TO COLLAB ONE DAY XDD
I just love how huggable ur oc is ;-;
WinkPaw22 this art isn't hers.
Because she’s amazinggggg XD a wonderful vid!
Mapleshade is over used because of fan service and she is the ONLY somewhat major female villain,Other than that she is a good character. In the Last Hope she is still alive(well dead but still around),she can make a possible appearance in later books(hopefully not)
Everyone wants a female villain or a villain that is understandable for their actions. If you can see that someone feels injustice when its not their fault, the readers cant help but feel sorry and then smile when" justice is served" . Reading along Mapleshade's point of view, you cant help but side with her just a tad bit. With Tigerclaw,we know he had done wrong and still you can tell he just wants power, its one of those books that readers read just to know how a certain event happen(Tigerclaw becoming Shadow Clan leader...how does that happen?!)
A reason many people like Ivypool or Hollyleaf is because Ivypool felt out shined by her sister and Hollyleaf whole world change when her very existence breaks everything she believes in and tries to right a error only to backfire in her face.
Injustice is key to any good scene, character,or plot
Deaths like Stonefur,Silverstream,Needtail and Tigerstar
Stonefur-killed for following code, born to parents he never knew, killed in the very place he proudly called home
Silverstream- Never had a mother,Loved a tom in another clan and was forbidden, despite going against her father she loved strongly and was willing to risk it all for Greystripe, died from child birth but still regrets nothing,"Death to they part" a bittersweet thing for a forbidden love for one alive and other death but still love strongly
Needtail-........sacrifice......(didnt read the books but I know what happened)
Tigerstar- Everyone wanted Fireheart/star to defeat the books lead up to and then for a new villain to kill Tigerstar like he was nothing instead of Firestar,it was a shock and people loved it.
Maple shade finds out, and desperately tries to find a way to meet them and her own kits by using this new found fact about kits who are born in StarClan, with two StarClan parents.
i really love your content!!
omg tysm! i love your content as well!
Anyways that’s all
i favorite maple shade because of how rellatable she is i love rellatable villains because there showing what can actually happen if people let there emotions get the better of them
Nice speech Wolf Sword! Preach!! (btw your oc is cute owo)
i read these books like crazy at a kid but fell off around omen of the stars and recently decided to read them again and i feel so insanely lost with some of this
I wanna see a book about mapleshade’s kits reacting to Apple dusk in StarClan, then the kits he loved more
I really think it’s just because she’s one of the only female villains. And because people loveeee excusing her actions because they feel bad for her. Just my thoughts.
Conclusion:i still feel sorry for mapleshade
Aaaahhhhck I'm going to school in like two minutes and I can't watch this but it's on my priority list~
I found her so relatable cause after being betrayed by my class ( or thunderclan in her case) the only one I had left leaved me...
I am so behind on these books but thanks rp a Take A Hint map I know about Sleekwhisker. Kills because she can. Not due to trauma or anything like you’d see in many Creepypasta (Jeff is still OP), but because SHE CAN AND WANTS TO. Straight savage
I love Mapleshade. PLUS I loved the song 'Greensleeves' at the end. -
Wow you put alot of details in this THANKYOU
AAAAAHHHH I LOVE IT!!!! It's so soothing to listen too!
> She's only a background villain
I mean, she has her own novella (Brokentail, for comparison, doesn't even have any books from his point of view). She's also basically the one that started everything. She's the oldest Dark Forest cat and has recruited many new villains as well as affected the lives of many major characters (e.g. Crookedstar). I wouldn't say she's a background villain; she's clearly quite significant in the Warriors universe.
Would Tallstar be blocked from StarClan if he DID kill Sparrow in Tallstar's Revenge?
You are actually great at analysis!!
Me having my mapleshades book coming on Thursday…
It came!
@@colleenlucia4008nice
Imma gramma..my grandkid turned me on to THE MUSIC. OMG DIXIE BOY!!INCREDIBLE MUSIC
Everyone else: talking about the video
Me: staring at the screaming cat at the end
Why is mapleshade so popular?
SHE.IS.BADASS AHHHHHHHHHHH
No but seriously I love her story and how she just grew and grew
1:08 actually Bee, Rainflower, Lizardstripe, rushtooth and Sparrowfether are female villains three of them are in the dark forest and all are arguably more evil than she was.
@Breezepelt the Banana lizardstripe can be considered indirectly responsible for brokenstar commiting genocide
She’s also played a major role in crookedstar’s promise (I think)
Great video
I love Your voice
Iam staying for more 👍🏻
Also i love your character design and colors.. :3
i have an AU where the idea mapleshade have that her kits can't go to Starclan unless she kill the people she did'nt like isi'nt because she alucinate the kit's spirit wanting her to do so (one of the erin's said it was alucinations ^^)
My AU is that the kits don't accept well their young death and kept go in the living world as ghost because they don't feel like they are fitting in Starclan.
I have a thought
What if mapleshade never told thunderclan about the relationship with appledusk or appledusk never "killed" the two cats birchface and flowerpaw. Or she pulled a blue star.
MapleShade’s story is really relatable to me cause almost the same thing has happened to me
What?!
Tigerclaw's Shadow is my favorite warrior cats book
I like her because she has a creative and interesting story :3
I kinda wish we could get a book about Tigerstar and to see how he grew up and why he hated kittyoets and wanted to rule the clans. I can imagine it had to do with Lonestar leaving to become a kittyoets and maybe that or influence from his mother made him hate kittypets and half clan cats so bad because of the pain pinestar brought him. Maybe he was abused or ridiculed growing up like broken star was. It would be really interesting but I doubt theyll ever make a book about cat hitler any time soon
We can relate to the feeling of being pushed out and loosing the ones we love.
Since Crookedjaw randomly walks in a conversation and says "guess what my dudes, I'm deputy."
Thistleclaw then says "the hell, I didn't train for nothing!"
She is popular for killing her 3 kits and getting betrayed by his mate
Mapleshade is my most favorite Warriors villan. Ive been reading Warriors ever since Middle school and I believe Mapleshade was the only Villan in the series I sympathized with and was actually sad to see die(Even if she did murder a bunch of other cats while she was both dead and alive). I enjoy seeing her in other books and in Maps very much 😊
I connected with fire star, crooked star and Cinder pelt..
But maple shade is still my fav villain
I like this book series, btw I'm a boy but I had a cat named Oscar and he died and ever since he died I started reading warriors, because graystripe reminds me of oscar
Im still waiting for the moment we get a medicine cat villain, just think this sweet innocent looking she cat medicine cat, who is actually very angry, bitter, filled with vengeance, who ends up causing some sort of sickness or just poisoning cats and hiding it from the clan.
I love Mappleshade and Hawkfrost so much!! I love this video more though
congrats on your new book!!!
This came out great! Very thoughtful insight on our relatability with her.
((and I appreciate you using my art, it means a lot 👍))
