When I was 12 years old my father ‘forbade me from ever owning a motorcycle’. Well, my father sent me away to Boarding school. Little did my father know that my best friend owned a ‘Honda Mini Trail’ and his parents used to bring it over on odd weekends for their son to ride. My friend very kindly used to let me ride his bike on these occasions. Little did my Father know. Fast forward to today and I’m 63………..I’m currently on my 17th motorcycle !
I bought one new in 71 for $261.45 and still have it, even the sales receipt. At 11 years old had a need for speed already and put a Honda 70 engine in it. Same color blue/white. In the process of a mini restoration. So fun, and the memories/ priceless. Now I load it up in my 1950 Ford hotrod/rat rod F-1 and go to car shows and will unload it and ride it around the show. The Z-50 gets as much attention as my supercharged hotrod.
Just got mine up and running again. It's been sitting for 30 years. Watched your video to see if something was wrong with mine. Nope, they just seemed faster when I was 10 and 150 lbs lighter.
The first shift bike I had, my brother got it for me, after my mini bike died. Went from that to a Rupp 80 that had been bored to a 100, then to a Yamaha 125 off/on, then to a Yamaha 350 strictly dirt. Once I got my license, I quit riding. They were the days though....
@@bone_thuggz6969 I rode mostly offroad, just to be able to get places and because there was nothing else. Once I had my license, I bought a car, and had a fulltime job, and could go anywhere I wanted. I live less than an hour from the atlantic ocean, so most of my spare time was at the beach. I also live 20 mins from a river that my cousins live on. I replaced riding for boating,lol. We also began working the water, crabbing and tonging oysters. They rode to, and one of my bikes was at the farm, to be honest, I dont know what ever happened to it...
I remember back in the mid 1970s, Junior Samples (from the TV show Hee Haw) would ride a Honda Mini Trail 50 in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. That was one tough little motorcycle!
When I was a little fella my cousins had one. Their dad would only let them ride it under his supervision. I was scared of it because it was a big boys mini bike and to me it was hi tech and very intimidating. I never got to ride it but I did go on to owning an XR75 (my first bike with an actual clutch with clutch lever) and into my adult years owning many other bikes, doing motocross and riding 1000cc road bikes.
Had that year, got it from my brother in 74, somehow ours had a K0 rear fender from the factory. I loosened the rear hand brake and pretended it was a clutch when I was ready to move on up. Wish I had kept it, got $65 for it and it had everything on it in decent shape.

Same. Exactly like this one. He bought it for me brand new in spring 1971.
I had one as a kid. Could climb a tree with it. Honda basically replaced the old Briggs and Stratton tin can mini bike with this little gem.

Why did you quit riding AFTER you got your license ??
