I would avoid buying microphones from computer peripheral companies. Look to audio companies like Shure, Audio Technica, even Maono or Fifine in my opinion.
Does the clipping happen in Advanced mode? To be honest, I am not a big fan of Maono's DSP and software in general and tend to run my PD400X in Advanced mode with all the plugins disabled. This should ensure nothing is affecting the raw signal. When you are on the Standard tab, they apply of bunch of stuff automatically, EQ for sure, but probably other plugins as well. Though they don't really document it anywhere.
