I'm not sure the 5000 has anything different than the 3000 other than those wheels and more sections available to cut. I think 3000 only has 6 and 5000 has 10. I only need 4. Both have a 10ah battery. Slope is better on the 5000,but only because of the 4 rubber wheels. The reduction in slope capacity is probably just because of the front wheen design.
Thanks for you effort! Do those tiny wheels really spin while the mower turns in a circle or do the whole wheels just scratch over the grass? Could you turn him on your terrace with a close up shot?
The 1000 and 3000 models have the omni-wheels. A subset of the newer 5000 models also now have the omni-wheels, and it seems to be based upon country of purchase? It's a matter of some contention since some users don't want the omni-wheels.
Adam I have one without the Omni wheels, and I can see on yours the front wheels are still spinning to turn, however I get that the Omni wheels should reduce the wear on the ground. Personally I don't like the Omni wheels, they look awful, and I think will reduce the mower effectiveness.
My 1000 was set to arrive Friday and now it has been recalled to the sender by them. Not sure what is going on because I have no email from them. I did get the RTK mount in a separate shipment.
I now fear that the omni wheels will cause the mower to skid/slide if mowing on a slope but SIDEWAYS (which is what I would have to do in my yard) - the 5000 did not have this problem because of the beefy wheels with diagonal lines in them I guess - but now even the 5000 is only available with the omni wheels: And now I am stuck --- I was going to buy the 5000 but not with these wheels -- the "small wheels" on the front wheel turn freely and as I said I imagine if the mower is set on a slope, but sideways, since the small wheels can freely turn, then they will simply let the mower "slide down" the slope ...
I completely agree with you. I ordered start of June when they still offered the "fixed wheels" and now they silently changed it to the omni directional ones. If it really ships with omni directionals, I have to refuse delievery and try to get a refund because omni directional wheels will just not work in complex shaped steep sloped areas. That's a matter of physics (center of gravity, downhill force, etc.)
I wonder why the 1000 and 3000 have different front wheels than the 5000. Good video. Also the 5000 comes with the mat that goes in front of the charging station to prevent the donut pattern in the grass. Contacted Luba and they are going to add the mat on their website as an accessory in the next couple of days
If I were wagering a guess, because fewer of the more expensive 5000s sold so they still have old stock to offload before they produce/sell any with the upgraded wheels.
This is what they responded when I asked support this question. “There are a few differences in their wheels, relatively speaking, the LUBA 1000/3000 takes less wear on the grass when turning. But the LUBA 5000 has an advantage in mowing speed and area.”
Thank you Adam! Can you make a short Video where you drive parallel to a sloped lawn. Maybe at 1:59 where it goes down to the car from the left house to the right one. Will Luba hold their height? Can the Software make a straight line? Or did you already checked it?
CrazyPostman did a Demonstration Video Last Week 07/12-ish showing Original vs Omni going Sideways on a bank (steep-hill) . . . It seemed to Hold. Remember that it appears to be 4-wheel drive - so there is Forward Drive being applied and GPS Control of its Direction.
The wheels on the 5000 are too aggressive and the turning logic causing them to spin excessively without sufficient traction. Additionally, all four wheels are not always in motion when turning, which causes them to drag, worsening the wear on the turf. I have overdrawn my boundaries to allow the Luba to turn around on my driveway, sidewalk, paver paths, etc., to mitigate the wear on my lawn, but this is not possible at all boundaries. If my well-kept bermuda is seeing wear from the tires and turning, I can only imagine how the less wear-tolerant lawns will look after Luba has been in use for several months.
It’s just too small. I’m not a fan of the lines, your yard looked way better before the mow in last video. It may be ok for Bermuda grass or something short, but it wouldn’t last a second in my tall fescue. My grass is taller than the mower. And here’s a tip, the reason u have weeds is because you mow your grass too short.
Has anyone had any experience with these wheels in sands areas? It seems that the omni-directional wheels will wear out quickly in areas (states) with a lot of sand (like Florida). It looks like sand could get into the small wheel's axles and stop their sideways movement.
Thanks Adam! Great info on Luba. Any issues with junk getting between the blades and plate they are attached to and keeping them from cutting properly?
The Luba only works in a perfectly rectangular garden. As soon as you have corners and edges, it doesn't work anymore! Since it's a Chinese company, then don't return it and you won't get your money refunded 😤
Luba works great in any shaped lawn. I specifically bought it because I have many irregular areas to mow and didn't want a perimeter wire. I've had Luba since last fall (Beta test) and it handles all my irregular areas just fine. My only complaint is that the front wheels (I have the standard non-omni wheels) are too aggressive and tear the lawn in certain areas. I'd sure like to try out the omni wheels on my 5000 to see how they work.
Exactly what I wanted to see. Thanks Adam!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Looks good to me. Now, I just have to wait for the 5000 to get those wheels. Then, I am going all in. Thanks

It is a nice robot.
Does it come with the omni-directional wheels or is that an add-on feature? I like the way they work.

Are those mini wheels on the omnidirectional fronts hard rubber, or hard plastic?
Steffen707, I asked Adam the same question in his last video and he responded "Hard Plastic".

@@sargemonday4801 makes sense. Thanks! Think I'm buying a 3000

Parallel with the slope. It would be good to see if it drives straight.

You can enable multi point turns on the 5000.
Wonderful I have been waiting for mine for a few weeks. I had an ecoflow blade that failed. There is a video on my channel of how poor it was.
Great info. Since its not a random pattern cut, do you have to worry about it creating ruts when cutting straight lines?
I haven't noticed anything like that.

I've heard they are going to release a higher cutting Luba model for tall fescue lawns.

Not yet but havent used it many times...will update in a couple weeks.
Hi Adems, this is Sihoo. We do not receive your reply, maybe our email went into your spam. Please reply to us as soon as you see the message.
So it is only 2 wheel drive?
No it’s all wheels drive the Omni wheels just help it turn a lot easier without messing up yard.
