- In the final concert of NYO Jazz’s 2018 European tour, Sean Jones leads the band in a performance of Frank Foster’s “Shiny Stockings” at Konzerthaus Berlin.
In the summer of 2018, gifted young jazz musicians from across the country came together to study with world-class jazz masters during the inaugural season of NYO Jazz. A completely free program for all participants, NYO Jazz gives young musicians the opportunity to perform as cultural ambassadors on an international stage and share a uniquely American musical genre with cultures around the world through an international tour each summer. Trumpeter Sean Jones-one of the field’s outstanding performer-composer-educators-served as soloist and bandleader for NYO Jazz’s Carnegie Hall debut and inaugural European tour, which included performances in the Netherlands, Germany, and Great Britain. World-renowned jazz vocalist Dianne Reeves and critically acclaimed trombonist Wycliffe Gordon joined NYO Jazz as special guest artists for the ensemble’s Carnegie Hall debut. Ms. Reeves was also featured as a guest artist on the tour to Europe. - Видеоклипы
i see that giant steps chart ominously lurking in the back of the pianist's sheets
🤣
That drummer is clearly destined for greatness. Would love to hear him play this with the Basie band.
Domo branch!!
That drummer!!!! Wooo🔥🔥 also i loved the soulful simplicity of cyrus solo
He went to my HS. Absolutely phenomenal drummer, and a hilarious guy on top of that.
That drummer pure enyoing music❤ , amaizing playing
Give me the name of the person who dislike this video, i´ll send him John Wick.......
This group of kids gives us all hope for our music. Your country produces some top rate people and I am looking at a whole group of them here. Thanks.
Cyrus Mackey - love that last name 😉 - from Dillard, same school that gifted us with Summer Camargo, and she’s here too. Love this chart, the original Frank Foster, played it myself numerous times with a big band on trombone.
2:15 one of the most brilliant and beautiful licks ever. These kids can play, holy smokes.
So great to see young musicians playing such an iconic swinging tune like this! I love the drummer work!
This makes me so happy to see kids continuing the tradition of not just Jazz but REAL Music. Great job guys
Loving that drummer
He must be studying up on Sonny Payne. He was a master showman of the drumset.
*Director: Sean Jones*
*Solos:*
Piano: Brooke Wyatt (0:02, 2:28, 4:51) (High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, TX)

I appreciate you.
Love your work
Bass sounds so good🔥🔥just thumpin along
The lead player is killing it! Wow.
I think it's Summer Camargo
Incredible well played by these youngsters. Swings as hell. I've been thru most of the YT's stockings and this is one of the most potent and energetic versions out there. I cant help wondering if todays youths talking about some rap artist "tearing the place down" have any idea at all of the massive impact of a live big band. It makes Kanye West and co appear as an amateur evening at the old folks home.
Absolutely smooth and altogether with great solos to boot. I don't think they really know how good they are. Kudos from an old jazz buff. Don't look back
Love this band! Have a great leader.
Everyone: great job!
Superbly done. Frank Foster and the Count would be pleased.
yessssssssss
Love this recording so fire 😭🙏
this the best ensemble of shiny stockings hands down
Superbe version
Lead tenor could not give a less of a fuck lmao. That posture tho. I've definitely caught myself doing that before. But at Carnegie Hall tho bro? What a fuckin legend
God man this was something to experience just now watching 😂🔥 sheeeesh
I can relax- big band swing is in safe hands !
A basie record, NICE!!!
fantastic1
Brillante e tecnicamente apprezzabile
Molto bravi
Classic audience clapping 20 seconds after the intro
excellent version. Some parts where the dynamic range could be much larger! Great work!
Telling ya, Cyrus solo go crazy
Tasty !!!
Trumpet quality is impressive. Here in Brazil, many are unfortunately far behind in technique.
Rip jazz in Brazil. Maybe one day there will be more musicians like Antônio Carlos Jobim in Brazil again. He was an amazing musician.
There is a lot of good trumpet players in Brazil.. maybe a good research can change your opinion.
Believe that’s a Bill Holman arrangement. Should be giving him credit.
What girl trumpet is playing lead I can’t tell but very interested
I think it was either Summer Camargo or Janelle Finton
1:05
2:55
Not bad at all for such a young bunch of people
You clearly mean Count Basie’s Shiny covered by …
No. Frank Foster wrote Shiny Stockings. The Basie band played it.
2:25
What a great sounding band, sublime drumming...shame the lead trumpet couldn’t follow the direction in the last repeated section like the rest of the band. If they had played the shock note loud and then got out of the way it would’ve all the more impressive.
🤮🤮🤮 those red trousers 😱😱😱
Mistake
