    Brave move, we've had hail and rain and it's blowing a gale here today, fingers crossed for some warmer weather

      It’s been decent here for a couple of weeks. We’ve had rain, but not half as bad as it’s been. Quite warm too

      My neighbours lawn was seeded at the same time and it's coming up great! I seeded in March for the past 3 years and always had great germination. This March has been milder than most too.

    Good luck, that spreader looks amazing. Look forward to the next lawn as I’m also overseeing with a fescue / bent mix to combat both winter die back in shade and also try and crowd out poa annua which is really bad this year due to all the bare patches.

      That’s what I’m hoping with the fescue mix too 🤞

    Nice video buddy. You like me and many others with a rye grass lawn have suffered this year, probably all the rain. Your’ll love the Lanzy spreader, been using one the past 2 seasons. Just amazing. Like you say you get what you pay for. The cheaper ones are no comparison. Finger crossed for the weather and let see a transformation in the next few weeks 👍

    Really pleased I followed your advice and cut my lawn and put some fertiliser on about 4 weeks ago. It looked horrendous afterwards cos it was so long before cutting and boggy. But been cutting every week since and gradually reducing height and it looks mint 🎉

    Great video. I’ve just bought a compost spreader and planning on using it for the first time soon. How big is your lawn, as like you, I’m trying to work out how far 1 bag of compost will go. Cheers mate.

    I'm following this journey! Live in Kent and was curious what to do when (havent cut yet as my lawn is still soaked we havent gone 2 days without rain). It's so long now and thinking i'm just gonna scalp,scarify and overseed. Had a trampoline on the lawn that I was rotating but left it too long in 2 spots so got some patches..... Lots to try and fix. Will leaan on you for knowledge mate.

    Bit cold yet. Soil temps about 6 high and forecast nightly averaging 5. You can’t expect more than a 40 percent germination I’m gonna wait I think. Ps the landzies are twice the price of the ones I get from the Dutch worm farmers. Same thing too

    I wanted a compost spreader, but my tiny little shed means i can’t. But I did manage to airate in the week, and my lawn is a lot firmer for it. I’ve also noticed, every time I’ve used seaweed my grass suffers for it? Get yourself some wetting agent down as it’ll help. I think it’s gonna be next weekend I’ll be re seeding top dress etc.

    It’s not warm enough where I live to re-seed the lawn, about 8 degrees today. Needs to be higher temp really for grass to germinate quickly.
    However, I’m interested to see how you get on and hope it works out.

      It’s decent where I am at the moment. Temps are ok. Seed will be slow going, but it won’t do any harm here yet. Hopefully things improve up your end soon 👍🏻

    Very brave. I did a test patch for a video to see if it would germinate in an area that is in the sun (when it's there) for most the afternoon and it's taking a while.

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  2 месяца назад +1

      I recon it will be similar here, slow, but with temps getting better, should have decent germination in a few weeks. Roll on April and May!

    What was the compost you used at the end? Is it specific to use on grass or just an ordinary compost

    Do you think putting down too much seed in the first place caused the lawn to fail more over winter? Thinking being that the grass had to compete…?

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  2 месяца назад +1

      Nope, front lawns had the same treatment last year and are looking great. Better than previous years my a mile! Just the shade in the back with all the rain we’ve had. Plus, very little frost has had a huge impact.
