How to make the Best Ghanaian PINKASO ( Hausa pinkaso)

  • Pinkaso is a popular flour dumpling in the hausa community. It is usually sold next to the kooko seller as they usually have it together. Pinkaso is becoming polular amongst other Ghanaian community. It is served on it own or with a sprinkle of sugar.
    INGREDIENTS
    3 cups of all purpose flour
    1/2 tablespoon of instant dry yeast
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    pepper to taste
    onion to taste
    2 cups of water
    spring onion

      Jamaicans are mostly Ghanaians! The word Jamaica was found out of the Ghanaian Twi word “Jama yaka” check ur history

      Ghanaians and jamaicans are the same ancestors background ,someone says the capital town of Ghana is Jamaica, I think that's right.

    Will try it over the weekend. I tried it while passing through Nima Accra Ghana. Can’t wait to prepare fir my family & friends. I have tried koose, hausa koko both have been successful so far.
    Visiting Nima market Accra Ghana was an eye opener for me.

    Just came by to check to see if my consistency was right :)
    I added a bit more flour since it was too liquidy and I'm really excited to try this dish from Ghana :)

      Turns out my consistency was still too watery, I'm not sure if I didnt let it proof long enough or something went wrong with the recipe, regardless I fried them as little 'pancakes' and they still taste delicious :) next time I'll definitely follow your instructions and hopefully they'll turn out a bit better than with the other recipe

      No need for heating
      Just a warm place
      Could be in a cupboard, drawer or just in an open warm place

      Depending on how warm the place is and also the potency of yeast and quantity could take 30min to an hour

      Depends on the quantity and how warm your kitchen is, I will say about an hour to 2 hours
