In my experience, Bostik 940A is the only product that effectively bonded HDPE to gelcoat or to each other for that matter. I tested several including JB Weld, 3M 5200 and the Bostik product worked best. Only issue is it currently comes in industrial sausages only.

FYI - Aaron from the "Born Again Boating" channel did a nice video on starboard, even does a nice shout out to @boat Outfitters on it.
Long story short, at 5:28 in his video (Link to this spot: ruclips.net/video/Bz5Jk7KBo6E/видео.html ), he says you can scuff then heat the starboard pieces and use JB Weld Plastic to bond starboard together. I have used this method with 5200 and was able to hand-make my own phone holders out of starboard for my electronics box on my new hard top, however getting the phone holder to stay in 1 place without a good adhesive bond makes the holder useless. So I followed the scuff & torch method with 3M 5200 fast cure and it worked really good for what I wanted to accomplish. I not only mounted my phone holder, but I also made a USB power plate and used 5200 to bond the starboard to the side of the E-box.
Maybe I'll do my own video on those projects.

I think we need to be talking to HDPE boat builders.

This is done in during extrusion at King Plastics through a process called Polyfusion, which bonds the colors together.

What about bonding agents like the testors glue used for plastic models....its suppossed to melt the plastic together more than serve as an adhesive..i curious to try it with Star Board

Hey Norm, that's a good question. I don't believe that we have tried using Testers modeling glue. At the same time I do not believe it would form a structural bond that is as strong or stronger than mechanical fasteners.

This is the double edged sword of starboard. Its easy to clean because not much sticks to it, but you can paint it because nothing sticks to it!

Linex(two part polyurea, not a paint) definitely does not adhere to Starboard (HDPE). In my production shop at work, we spray aluminum plates with a polyurea coating while the plates are set onto a Starboard backing board, specifically because the polyurea peels off it so easily! Nothing really sticks to HDPE.

You are absolutely right! Just noticed my typo... It should read "but you CAN'T paint it because nothing sticks to it!
