I'm surprised they managed to shove Sonic Unleashed gameplay onto a Wii and still make it look (relatively) good. Makes you wonder how they managed to screw up with the Storybook series. Edit: And, of course, them somehow managing to, with Sonic Colors, pull the hedgehog engine completely over.

The amount of benefits it can get would be staggering. Or at least a port to current gen consoles for just a better framerate.

That is unlikely. It I was using free look feature (in Dolphin emulator, it lets you move the camera), then 2D sections would have been zoomed out as well but they aren't.
I don't think there is any difference between either of the SD versions besides the graphics. I suppose Ps2 version could be less stable of the two but it would be better to ask those who actually played both versions on real consoles.
ArtFenixAsordis The only difference that I know of is that, in the PS2 version, Sonic's skin doesn't have some kind of gloss. He looks a little dark-colored.

No, just Dolphin. It has a feature for dumping frames, that's how I record most of the videos from Dolphin.

That is unlikely. It I was using free look feature (in Dolphin emulator, it lets you move the camera), then 2D sections would have been zoomed out as well but they aren't.

This is the Wii version not the PS2 version. They have the same Level layout but the PS2's character model is much more choppy.
The HD version has far better lighting and much more detailed assets.

Sonic's quills aren't animated in the PS2 version. It's like they're frozen solid or something.
