The interview was honest and insightful and I really felt it. I agree that our SA brothers and sisters are probably best able to understand the struggles we AAs in the US have faced in the past and still face today. However, I do love the distinction that Lucky made when he said but "....our police actually protect and serve." I think that I saw another video where someone said the same thing about Rwandan police officers. I can only imagine what that feels like. On an aside note: I better clarify because I get questions about it all the time. So, for the purpose of adding context to my AA comments. Yes my last name is Ibo/Igbo (Nigerian). However, I am an AA. At any rate, I have added South Africa to my bucket list. Again thank you for the post.

Our South African brother explained it perfectly. Immigration control has been non existent in South Africa and the resentment between locals and foreigners are growing because unemployment in South Africa is the highest in the world but we keep our boarders open with no new job opportunities. A hungry man can only handle so much. We are not xenophobic.

SA law says that only people with critical/scarce skills can get a work visa. Unemployment being at 40%, u can’t have companies hiring all these undocumented ppl over South Africans because they can exploit and pay them slave wages. Our government is just watching it happen and ppl are not happy. Ppl also want more secure borders because some ppl don’t come to SA with good intentions. Thank you so much for dealing with such a sensitive issue, firstly there's no way in the world. A country can have more than 17 million foreign nationals from the continent to slaughter them on it shores. Secondly the 'attacks' are very isolated it's not something that normally happens but when it does only one side of the story is heard. Overall I blame our government who are the custodians of the constitution but they have not applied the laws properly, causing people to fight amongst themselves. I am glad you guys decided to touch on this issue because our voices have been silenced for far too long on South Africans to state their case for the truth to be finally heard and and for others to have insights of what is really going on, not only one side. What is disappointing some of our African brothers they are not entirely honest on these platforms when they say we hate them as they perpetuate misinformation and not tell real information on what is going on the ground... we know most are running away from wars, political instability or economical factors but they are able to gang up against South Africans and tell the world that we hate them, yet they don't even get along in their countries/villages. The husband of the SA couple seems open and welcoming but the wife seems standoffish especially, with the " interesting" comment. It was her response to how she felt about seeing AA's come to SA. Anyhow, love your family's channel. You all are so positive and just lovely to encounter. Thank you for your time and efforts.
We've got nothing but love for our Black American brothers and sisters and would love them to come here in droves. Regarding the so called xenophobia I feel it's just an emotional blackmail directed towards us South Africans, whenever we voice out our concerns regarding ILLEGAL foreign nationals who have a total disregard for our laws, we are branded as being xenophobic, which isn't the case. For all the African brothers and sisters who are here legally and are adding value to our country we appreciate them and we'll protect them from any harm and this does not mean we will harm those who are here illegally however we will continue to voice out on this issue seeing that our government is failing in this regard.
The gas lighting is what makes us really angry. During the live I raised the serious issue of Foreigners bringing human trafficking and child trafficking syndicates, kidnapping and turning young black girls into sex slaves , This is a fact that can easily be googled. Then someone said that can be dealt with at another time ...someone else mentioned that people are brining negativity to the space . What can be more negative that someone silencing people for raising such a serious issue ? But because we are always politically correct and seeking to be kind we step back and keep quiet.
@@dinaledi4085 I feel you. Only one side is heard and the other is silenced oftentimes. Another silencing tactic is the, "We helped you during Apartheid" sentiment. Not forgetting the issue of SAns who lose their lives and property due to these hijacking and vehicle theft syndicates. There's a thriving black market for those hijacked/stolen vehicles which then get taken across our borders (it's all there on Carte Blanche for people to see), apparently there are paying customers who place orders for these luxury vehicles and auto parts in some neighbouring countries. They don't want to hear that though.
But when are we going to address the real issue because the real issue is other Africans failing to hold their leaders accountable but opt to run to South Africa and demand us to hold our leaders accountable which is hypocrite, if they themselves have dealt with their leaders, we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place. The world has made it normal to discuss the issues of black South Africans and ADOS publicly but the rest of blacks get a free pass, is as if we and black Americans are supposed to be responsible for all messed up black nations. Why is Ethiopian, Haitian, Jamaican, Nigerian, Zimbabweans, Malawian e.t.c government not questioned why they keep dumping their poor in SA and USA while we have our own poor black people to look after?

So you see alot of black people in America but it's just more diversity in the U.S
Hi Guys Just to add on property taxes, in South Africa we call them Rates and Taxes It’s calculated on the value of your property, the higher the value of property the higher you will pay for rates and taxes at a certain percentage. But in addition there are other service charges you pay such as refuse, electricity, sewerage, levies, water etc.

What about all the security gates even on so many windows, and the crime rate? When I travelled to South Africa, so many people warned me saying it’s very dangerous all over and some even tried to discourage me from visiting my fiancé and his family there. I was even told the police don’t respond and that they might even let things happen. I was given the impression that just going for a walk would get someone killed or brutally robbed. I had an amazing 3 weeks back in 2019 in that beautiful country, and hope to return by the end of the year. I wish there were some questions and answers about that.
“What do South Africans think about Afro-Americans and the issue of Xenophobia?” This is a loaded question. Here are few things about South Africans: 1) There are two types/kinds of South Africans group a) South Africans from exiles. Group b) South Africans who are domiciliates. The situation of these groups was caused by the politics of race and discrimination by Apartheid regimes pre 1994. 2) There’s been conflicts/confrontations between these two groups i.e. The exiled group returned into SA from 1990s. They came back with foreign experiences and expertises acquired from living abroad. Even though it’s political, they got opportunities to study and acquire skills. The other group of exiled SAns received military training from other countries who supported the liberation struggle of the oppressed majority of South Africans. 3) The domiciliates South Africans fought the oppressive state within the country using civil unrest, since all political activities were outlawed. They used different political campaigns to destabilise the then regime and rendered South Africa ungovernable. Thus, South African population is a politically charged nation. 4) The promise of post 1994 was freedom and better life for all. However, only one group of South Africa feel hard done by politicians and the promise of “better life for all” was not fulfilled. The domiciliates group feel like those who came from exile, through their political patronage, benefitted from the spoils of liberation. This group feel left out in the coal to fend for themselves in the new South Africa. Thus their struggle is still continuing, they want the rewards of the freedom promised since 1994. 5) The twist into this saga was exasperated by the collapse of political systems of both Mozambique and Zimbabwe. The civil war from the former led to the proliferation of Mozambicans into South Africa. Later followed by Zim. Migration has always been part of South Africa and people inter married and created new families. However, the influx of people running away from political depression and sanctions from their home countries, met with the continued struggles of local (domiciliates)South Africans for their total freedom ignited the so called xenophobic wars! 6) South Africa is a sense is still at political war with its self. Additional nationalities into the country don’t understand this political war and thus caught in crossfires. 7) However, the big driver of the narrative of South Africa is the media, which is predominantly owned by the oppressive people who control the means of production and the capital of this country. The oppressed South Africans are unable to articulate their own narrative and thus conspiracies are created to undermine the true stories of the real South Africa. If everybody can understand this background, will be able to thread carefully when engaging with South Africans. 8) As far as African Americans perceptions, and Black South Africans, Americans are idolised from culture to slang. When South Africa was under apartheid, the only Black people accessible to Black South Africans through media (music & Tv) were African Americans. From sitcoms to Hiphop, Black South Africans grew up on the American pop culture. The apartheid regime shut Black South Africans from the rest of the African continent and allowed the African American culture to be the only culture Black South Africans can consume throughout state controlled media. In short, that’s the state of the nation.
I thino like poc use look up to african american people and music eg martin luther king, luther vandross,Michael Jackson.they reason why we started doing hip hop in distract 6 alot our gangs named after what we watched on tv.
What's interesting the most is in Zim, Botswana, Ghana, jus to name a few they don't employ a foreigner if hes not skilled, or not allowed to start a small busineess or be employed under unskilled or semi-skilled labour if you from outside. But still expect south africa to do the opposite of that, clear double standards frfr, and that affects poor south africans more, coz they disadvanged both in their country and other African countries.

As South Africans we do not hate foreigners, we welcome everyone especially if you contribute meaningfully to the economy of this country. However, the problem starts when migrants from other African countries start fighting for resources with poor South Africans, they are basically taking bread out of their mouths. People in the Township and rural areas are the ones who are most affected by the influx of illegal immigration because they are forced to share little resources they have with them, eg schools, hospitals, and township economy, so what angers South Africans is the fact that African migrants have a tendency of telling South Africans that they are lazy, Our forefathers fought hard for this land and we will not run anywhere instead we will stay and fight for this land unlike them who run away from the government. Now tell me who is a coward?
Still not a reason to take the life of your brothers in such a manner. This could be handled in a more humane manner. I am not excusing the behavior of any African who do the wrong thing in SA but SA response to this, taking the life of your brothers is unforgivable unless you repent. I love Africans no matter which part of the continent they are from and so it hurts to see this type of behavior towards each other. I reminds me of the reasons the entire continent was conquered. Our compassion for one another is too little, we need to do better.
Love the connection and the discussion. Globally we have been the targets of the same beast/system. The best thing to do is to unite and work out the differences because we are connected, whether some like it or not.
Great conversation family. I really enjoyed watching and Lucky was on point.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾South Africa is the only country in the continent where you would discuss these sensitive topics publicly without fear of being harassed by the police or any security agency.

Black Americans and South Africans share a similar history. The way South Africans think about immigration is how black Americans should think about immigration.
yes we're trying to deal with that situation now, Africans and people from the Caribbean are using up our benefits and down talking black Americans but we know they're jealous but our schools are being filled with them.

What about all the security gates even on so many windows, and the crime rate? When I travelled to South Africa, so many people warned me saying it’s very dangerous all over and some even tried to discourage me from visiting my fiancé and his family there. I was even told the police don’t respond and that they might even let things happen. I was given the impression that just going for a walk would get someone killed or brutally robbed. I had an amazing 3 weeks back in 2019 in that beautiful country, and hope to return by the end of the year. I wish there were some questions and answers about that.
You were misled
“What do South Africans think about Afro-Americans and the issue of Xenophobia?” This is a loaded question. Here are few things about South Africans:
1) There are two types/kinds of South Africans group a) South Africans from exiles.

@@esem135 stop with the victimization mentality, african she is getting destroyed by her own children.
@@esem135 The population size of Orania as recorded in 2020 was 2066. SA has a population of around 66million people . So we are talking about a serious minority here.
People in Orania are not committing crimes or bothering anyone outside . These are a few Afrikaners who wish to preserve their culture. We don't agree with how they are going about it but we let them be because they do not bother us. Stop sensationalizing minor issues please .
@@sihlen7546 If I was not giving you chest pain you would not be commenting! Thought about that? You folks are simply not used to being told contrary to your delusional mentality.
@@esem135 Whites are our problem if any, if we are telling you that your kind is a problem in our communities, don't tell us about whites, that is our problem. Is weird how you fighting so hard to be in SA but we are not even visiting your country. We decide who gets to be in our country based on our experience and interest. If we tell you that we have no interest with you and we have bad experience with you, leave it there and stop forcing things. We wont accept it get use to it
He speaks very well answering questions
and highly educated💯
They always label us as that, anyway! That's their take.
Good morning family I am re watching your video. You are providing a great service giving us a view of Africa so we can be prepared when we come to visit. I am happy about the information that you're providing❤ black people are disrespected all over the world.
Only thing I might disagree with you on Miss queen is that foreigners are not the ones that are coming to the United States and disrespecting people of color. The people disrespecting African Americans are the Government of the United States and white supremacist.
Most foreigners that I know including my family that come to United States love the country and just wanted to share a piece of the pie that's it.
Remember we are all one. We are now in danger in the United States of experiencing an apartheid system like South Africans, so we definitely can relate to their struggle in SA💔 hopefully we are learning from it and not making the same mistakes.
Beautiful couple 🖤💚💛one love.
Hello can you please turn the close caption on for your Deaf fans? Thank you.
They come on during the playback. 👍🏾
@@Unmad Ok, great! I will catch up! Thanks
I'm hoping you guys will take a trip to the Rural with Velile.
All foreigners are welcomed with open arms IF you follow the correct immigration laws and are not a drain on the State. Unfortunately we have a big problem with illegal immigrants and that is what gets people upset.
I have a profound love & Admiration for my Afrikan People . The Brutha & Sistah being interviewed have very beautiful Hearts . That being established ... I am always sooo befuddled as to why most Afrikan Sovereignties (as well as it's Citizenry) are apparently satisfied with the Colonizers Usurpation & Occupation of what irrefutably belongs to Afrikans .
We love Black Americans in SA .We have similar experiences and we have the same look .You can put a black american in Soweto and they would automatically not look different to a black South African.South Africans are Americanised henCe the similarities.i spent 15 years in America and they never believed i was African or anything because i had no accent , i sounded American so theyd be surprised that im African .But we love our AA Brothers and Sisters.
definitely; and west Africa as well which is the roots of black Americans; other parts may be a little weird for black Americans
Nice to see you here brother. I 'm Jean from drc
Americans can do wonders.especially in directing music., movies , television ,. music production and many more
Why did I miss the live, would love to have participated. I love this channel.
It’s the middle of summer in Johannesburg. I stay in the East of Johannesburg and the temperature juss dropped to 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit) tonight. Time to pull out a nice blanket and snuggle with my partner.😋
I am proud of that informative couple they are very smart wow!
Africans must unite doesn’t mean erasing these differences other groups are united for a greater cause
Well-spoken, one correction Orjania is not in Cape Town, its in fact in the Northern Cape
Rise up! My sisters and brothers let's rise up.
I’m loving this information
We have property taxes in the form of rates and taxes which is usually included by the municipalities onto your monthly services bill, you also get capital income's gains tax when you sell your property for any amount above R1million.
Very intelligent conversation. Does that brother have a podcast or RUclips channel
Nope. Just an ordinary South African expressing his personal view/opinion. . .:)
I love this channel. Actually speaking to South Africans. Botswana, Lesotho and ESwatini are land locked and as for Botswana it's our neighbour. We have native speakers in the country. We are one people. Just across the Limpopo we have a little bit of disconnect linguistically and culturally. We have a long way to go to mending our country and then uniting with the continent.
@@donaldmacdonald9993 Not a problem a disconnect.
It depends what you want when you return to Africa. You want to just come and have a soft landing without much lifestyle change, then South Africa is probably #1.
I see nothing but love for Black Americans in South Africa. I very rarely see anything bad.
In other countries there's more backlash to us returning (it's a mix of support, indifferent, of negative)
Where did the sister say we can go to look up the business opportunities in SA?
Fantastic interview!
Great interview.
Its funny how they wear the bucket hats. We was rocking them joints 30+ years ago back in the day.
We really love bucket hats in South Africa, especially the gents.
Beautiful channel Fam! ❤️❤️❤️
15:28 reminds me of the bus boycotts during the civil rights movement
Peace and love my black family.
The guest are very polite, politically correct, wise and kind. Thanks guys good choice in guest collection
Wow 😳 Africa is too beautiful!!!
love the convo on the video and the chat
Never forget South Africans, you are South Africans first, then a Southern African Bantu and a Bantu and then an African. Be proud and be patriotic for Mzantsi. Our parents died for that land! Abanye abantu with negative energy about our country and down playing the efforts made by our ancestors. Don’t forget all those not Mzantsi want to be Mzantsi hence talking crap about our beloved South Africa. They won’t take our country azikhale!
No we are South Africans first then African

Well Africa as continent I resource rich not only in the south, but also in west, east and Central Africa, we need to develop our continent and leave happily, Kwame Nkrumah said "seek ye first the economic kingdom, and all other things will come upon you"
They say in west Africa, give two brothers one loaf of bread and they will fight, give the same two brother a loaf of each, and they laugh and make merry, we need our own everything in Africa, it will make sense a developing nation should have more ability to create jobs as there is a lot that's needed to be developed
Great conversation fam
If Southern Africa could be the beginning of Africans Heaven from all over the world in such a way that any African coming to Southern Africa must feel exactly like how white Americans feel when they go to UK.
We love you unconditionally.
We don't wish you to forget poor black Americans but we want you to find a place here in Southern Africa to plan on how can we help poor Americans to be able to visit Africa at list once in their lifetime.
I am a South African and I feel home in South Africa and I feel 100% safe within our boarders.
I wish all human race can feel this way.
