QUICK But REALISTIC! Pencil Portrait Drawing Tutorial & Challenge (Wednesday Addams)

- @BMDPortraits shares another realistic portrait drawing tutorial but a bit different because this some sort of a drawing challenge. I decided to finish an entire realistic portrait drawing within just 1 day. On this drawing video i will use Charcoal Pencil (General's Brand) and you will see the entire drawing process and i made it really quickly. All pencil portrait artists (Colored Pencil, Graphite, Pastel pencil and Charcoal Pencil) all over the world must see this realistic portrait drawing tutorial and a challenge video because it may help you improve your drawings. But i felt a bit pressured doing this drawing challenge because as a realistic portrait artist, TIME is really important and i do not teach you to rush your drawings because quality and realism may suffer. However, with this combination of drawing techniques, materials and formula, we may be able to draw fast and easy and realistic.

You did that portrait really well. I agree that Sargent is the best. They are dark like old school. They are also inexpensive. I do pen and ink. I never used pencils so you made me want to try and use pencils. Ty

Amazing portrait, amazing detail.. but In terms of the pure likeness .. compared to the original actress, I can’t help but feel this is just a tiny t tinny bit off.. I dunno what it is exactly.. but to me it feels like it’s about 99% there, likeness wise. Amazing none the less.
Ooh gotta get some charcoal pencils. I use toned grey paper and graphite pencil, grey markers and white charcoal (sometimes colored pencil). I am too impatient for long processes and the detailed work of realism...but charcoal looks like a fast enough medium that I could finish in 2-days ;-) I don't think I could work on something for 9.5 hours straight! So you use a fixative or just mount the charcoal under glass? Portrait of Wednesday is fabulous of course! I just finished the series on Netflix and enjoyed watching you render her. Thanks again for your instruction and for sharing your process with us.

Are you starting these drawings with a traced outline ?
No he used grid method mostly used by portrait artist but tracing is also fine because the real part that needs a lot of skill and training is the shading

Can i just use tombow mono for Highlight istead white charcoal pencil?
I think u can, but because i use gray paper here, white charcoal is needed for whiter highlights, Tombow is perfect on white paper

You should of shown how you traced the outlines at the start of the video as well don’t be ashamed
i have some videos where i show how i do the tracing, but not every time because as much as possible i want beginners to still do the Grid method
