Excellent tip, and my leak pattern exactly matches his, but I only saw this after I pulled the whole top end apart!
I am going to try this first before addressing valve cover gasket. thank you very much.
Yeah. Just put a shop towel paper to verify. And try to clean as much oil as possible from around the valve cover to see if you can find the exact area where the oil is leaking.
Good luck bro
What a solid tip. I'm gonna try the paper towel first before I rip open the valve cover. Thanks!!
Thanks Devin.
How did it go? Did you figured out where the leak was coming from?
Good job it was my pcv o ring too. I did my valve cover on the engine stand and once the engine ran in the car with new turbos and all new gaskets I was stumoed on why the back cylinders had oil. It caused the coils to back out as well.
Appreciate this information bro your really helping people in the world 💯
Thank you, bro.
I do what I can.
We all need it at a point in time.
Thank you for your support, brother 👍💯
Also It's best to change it every oil change I believe. The PCV O ring
The STP oil filter from autozone comes with it if anything I just buy the STP filter for the O ring I haven't opened my Imported filter yet But I assume it comes with PCV O ring
Dangggg such great content. Found you on your bms oil catch can AFTER I bought my bms one lolol. I'll get another one to put on the motor as well!! A+ content bro. Keep it up!!!!!!!!!
Great video!!!! Thank you so much for posting this before I did my Valve cover gasket!!!
Good Find ! Now they fix that on the N55 but did not use the beefy forge pistons and Crank ,WHAT ! Still have issues with PVC but it is easy to DIY ! I wish someone would make a Bullet Proof Valve cover ! LOL
Thabkyou for this info. I been getting rip by mechanics. Telling me I have transmission problem when it’s this Excatly where leaks coming from.
I got a 2010 535i and I have oil in the same place you did I’ll definitely check it out I want it drive to smooth again….
Did you find out where your oil leak was coming from?
as an aussie, i like your accent, its cool
Thank you for this video. I JUST had the valve cover gasket replaced, still got an oily spark plug and misfire from #5 cylinder. I’m praying this will fix the issue. If not looks like I’m going to have to replace the whole valve cover :/
Did you ever get your oil leak resolved?
@@CrazyCarMods I did. I ended up just replacing the whole package. New valve cover and gasket, index 12 injectors, eldor coils and new sparks. Got tired of single fixes lol
Excellent information. Thanks for sharing, this will solve my small leak :) 5:57
Excellent video and great info to look for this first.
On my 2008 335XI Dual Turbo: I have an oil leak and I assumed it is my valve cover gasket and it is at the rear of the engine in the general area where you pointed out. Oil is dripping on to the exhaust manifold. I am hoping it is the same O Ring gasket you mentioned as I really don't feel like going through all the steps for the valve cover gasket repair if it is not needed. Great info to look for first!

NYC Area
Also take a look at the alignment of that crankcase vent hose. When installing an oil catch can, the hose from the catch can can pull on this connection an misalign the hose (making it leak).
Of course this only applies if you have an oil catch can lol.
@@CrazyCarMods I don't know if I have an oil catch can as I never worked on the N54 engine yet. (I used to drive an E34). Where do I look and how do I recognize it? Thanks again.
Phil
Cool 😎.
It’s kinda hard to explain and for you to understand, but take a look at this video.
On min 6 is the crack case hose piece that I’m talking about that needs to be aligned.
And on minute 10 is the hose that connects to that crank case hose to the oil catch can.
In this video you will see why it is a good idea to install an oil catch can if your interested.
Hope that helps bro.

My car is dripping oil too and I Have or replace the cover gasket … I will have to do it my self I hope the engine is not damaged .. I have had si many problems with this beautiful car sad it only has 87 000 but at 50 it started to have issues 2010 335i
These cars have issues with various gaskets. Valve cover gaskets, oil housing gasket, oil pan gasket, some have rear main seal or main seal issues which those are like gaskets too SMH. So having a leaky valve cover gasket is pretty much normal with this cars. It’s part of regular maintenance. Before replacing your valve cover gasket, Check to make sure that your valve cover itself is not cracked or damaged. Hopefully is not 🤞. If it is, then you need to replace those at the same time, to avoid doing the work twice. The valve cover gasket itself is only about $30. The expensive part is the labor. If you can do the work yourself that would be best. Also make sure your car has has oil at all times. It is better to clean up any oil residue within your engine and then pin point to see where the leak is coming from.
I also have a DIY on replacing the valve cover gasket, where I go into high detail on everything that you need to do.
Hope that helps
Great video. Definitely bout to look into this
I hope this fix my problem I did notice the oil catch can is dry and my hose is bent. I will check on this asap
Like your videos buddy keep it up!
Thank brother 🙏
And I sure will keep putting content out 💯
thanks for the helpful video as i had this exact same problem.
I will try, thank you!
Solid advice, excellent video!
Thank you for making this video, helped me a lot!
Thank you for the support, brother 💯👍
Hi nice video i have a e60 535xi and something is leaking on the exhaust making a little smoke and smell the last owner said he made the valve cover gasket i hope this my problem the o ring
Did you find out what was the issue?
@@CrazyCarMods no yet but i think is the turbos
Excellent video! Thanks.
Thank you bro 💯👍
Thanks for the tip brotha
For sure brotha 👍
We gotta help each other 💯
Great info!
Is it possible to line the inside of the PVC pipe with Teflon tape? Where would be good places to use Teflon tape?
Excellent video.
Thank you bro 🙏
My 335xi is spraying white smoke from the exhaust and it just started today think im gonna try this out to see if thats the problem or if its the vcg
When there excessive white smoke coming out from the exhaust pipes, there is usually 2 things that come to mind. One is a bad PCV valve and the other is your turbos.
My suggestion is to replace your pcv valve asap, and don't drive your car much or push your car. When there is a bad pcv valve, there is excessive pressure withing the crankcase/engine, and if that pressure can't go anywhere; it will damage your gaskets. And can create oil leaks. It is because of this N54s have issues with gaskets and oil leaks.
Cross fingers its not your turbos. 🤞
Where did you buy your gasket for pcv valve o ring? Any links- I have 2010 Bmw 535i. Thannka
Great vid!
💯👊
Awesome video
Would this cause smoking from near the firewall ? I'm prepared to change the cover but don't know if this step will do anything for that issue
I’m having the same issue. I’m starting by changing the oil fill cap because mine leaks.
Yeah start by the small stuff. Try putting a shop paper tower around that pcv vent hose and keep driving for a week or two just make sure.
@@CrazyCarMods I’ll give that a try, thanks man!
For sure brother, good luck getting that leak resolved 👍
I just recently did my valve cover gasket and now my vehicle is ticking very loudly and oil smoke is coming from the back of the engine. Would the PCV system cause this? I do believe something might have cracked from removing/putting back together. Or do you think the gasket has bound and needs to be put back into place? Thanks.
Brilliant!
Good job thanks 💯
Thank you brother 💯
Great info. Are close to Virginia?
I’m checking right now
Good work
THANK YOU!!!!
Im gonna check
Does anybody know where I can get the gasket for the vent hose
Could this also be throwing manifold pressure codes? I’m having vacuum issues and this oil leak and I’m suspecting air is getting past the seal into the manifold past the MAF. Anybody else have this issue?
Thanks mate
Mine leaks only in high rpm under load. Other than that can’t tell where it’s leaking but it’s drenching the top of my hood
The top of your hood? Thats the first time i hear about this one. To make it to your hood, that oil definitely has pressure. Take a close look at the valve cover. Sometimes the crack looks like a hair line, and its barely noticeable. Use a good flash light when inspecting. If the oil leak is coming from the front of the engine towards the driver's side then there's a big chance is your oil filter housing. And if that's where the Oil leak is at, then replace that gasket asap. Also clean the oil residue and replace your serpentine belt.
Where is the Oil leak by? Towards which part of the hood you see the oil?
@@CrazyCarMods I pinpointed it to the front, what’s happening is it’s spraying to the fan and the fan is blowing it to the top. Question- can my vanos solenoids leak oil? The leak is coming from the front valve cover section or vanos solenoids. I ordered a set of gaskets since they were cheap going to try that first and if not then it’s valve cover or valve cover gasket
Yes those gaskets can definitely leak since they can get dry and lose their seal due to the heat from the engine. The vanos solenoids work as a valve through high oil pressure to adjust timing of the valves. Sp the leak in that section can be a big possibility yet Its not as common as the valve cover gasket. When you replace the gaskets you might as well give a clean to the solenoids. Also to double and triple check, look at your oil housing gasket from underneath, its hard to see just by looking so use a small mirror, like the ones dentist use but a little bigger. I want to point it out so you can be 100% sure there is no leaks coming from there, since if the serpentine belt brakes (one cause can be expensive oil leaks touching it) it can cause severe damage. Some people has messed up the whole engine because of a broken serpentine belt. So just make sure.
Hopefully its just those small vanos solenoid gaskets.
Good luck 👍
@@CrazyCarMods Got an update! Turned out to be the orings on the vanos solenoids! I did an engine swap on mine myself in my garage and when I switched the vanos solenoids from one engine to the other I did not add the O-ring gaskets! I ordered new vanos solenoids because I think now they are a little messed up. But that fixed the problem so it can definitely leak from there as well!
Better to replace the whole hose! Because it gets brittle and leaks too!
I replaced my valve cover gasket and the valve cover , upgraded the pcv and added and oil catch can and my engine bay is still smoking as shown in the video it smells like burnt oil not sure what it could be it only happens when I’m in a complete stop it looks like a fire is under the hood haha, but after I drive for about 3 mile sit goes away and once’s the car has been driven it doesn’t smoke until I turn it off and turn it back on can someone please help
I’m going through that problem right now . Did you figure it out ?
💪🏼
I just had my VCG done and I noticed I have alot of excess oil in the little holes near the injectors, would that cause my car to smoke up and leak oil?
Did you ever get it resolved?
@@JayHadTo nope, ended up selling the car, but I would recommend you clean as much oil as you can, then let the car run and see if you can pinpoint where it’s coming from, looking back I wish I had done that
90% of time it will be valve cover gasket and not the vent hose but nice
On it bro on it
💯 👍
I hate oil leaks hum
Ppl that call it a pvc hose 😂😂😂 *PCV*
Is he rapping? 😂 turn the volume down and play 90s rap, like fat joe and looks like he’s rapping to a song
This is great man thank you
Well done great video
My N54 has white thin smoke coming out only from the hood after I close the car and I suspect it’s leaking oil into the exhaust manifolds since it smells like burnt oil. Can it be because of the O ring or the valve cover gasket itself ?
did you ever figure this out?
