1 of my favorite channels on all of youtube!!! I love the level of hard work and untold hours of research and compiling all of these fantastic events from Americas early history!!! Thank you for all the hard work you continue to do in providing such great video content!!! I always loved Americas early history. Now that I'm old and sick, I can't tell you how much your videos do to take me away from my daily grind and teleport me to a place I can only dream of ever knowing. But in my youth I was lucky enough to gain some good outdoor camping and back packing around Mt. Hood OR and other areas. So at least I have been to the mountains enough to understand how truly beautiful they are and know how I never felt closer to God than I did during my trips in the wilds. My wilds being nothing in comparison to any who have ever truly backpacked into remote areas with Grizzly bears and that kind of thing. I was in the "kiddie park" version by comparison. But it was enough to have gotten a good taste of the atmosphere. I would hate to have to ever have dealt with a grizzly bear. My 1 black bear experience was more than enough for me.
Used to work for Kit Carson descendant of the this man he unfortunately just passed away but he had some neat photos and history. Quite the story of the will to survive
Even at my age (64) it’s hard to imagine how these folks survived certain times in history. You have to realize they had to make all considerations. When we hear their food was growing sparse. We think maybe a couple of days. But, they had to think way ahead of that. So many great men that will never be recognized by name existed in those days. Just as in many days before all over the world. I’m thankful God had a plan.
Theres also story about Chieff Gall sioux warrior , he got his name coz when he was child he was orphan and eat animal's gall because starving and later he got name " he who strike in the middle " bcoz his bravely in battle to getin middle enemy and become honour Chief bcoz his bravery not wealth , got several stab by his old chilhood friend from other tribe till blood out his mouth and ears and later he survive and 8 years later kill his exact friend in battle of little big horn but he lose two wife and three kids in that battle and revenged kill several white men in that battle , when in reservation they measure him he was 250 pound 6'3 big dude with big story
I first got interested in frontier history from Gwynne's book 'Empire of the Summer Moon'. This channel strikes a similar tone. What I'm most struck by is the evil bahaviour of the plains indians. Their love of torture and inflicting prolonged pain even on women and children captives, often using fire to burn them. It's no wonder they were so persecuted after their horrifying treatment of dirt-poor farmers and their families. They were literally stone-age man when the Spenish first arrived. No metal and no horses. It makes you wonder if such cultures represent hunanity taking a wrong turn in the worst possible way.
Geronimos last words st 91 before death was, "I should have never surrendered. I should have fought until I was the last man standing". Indians were honorable people The white man broke every promise they ever made. The only promise yhey ever kept was they promised to take their land & they did. Shameful genocide. They took their children from 5-17 they lost their roots & identity. I had Indian friends I heard this directly.
I wish I would have had back in 1969 and before when I was still in school. So much history. I would maybe have become a history teacher instead of an over the road truck driver. Although I would have earned less money per year.
Woke up dead, you know I woke up dead Give me time to get it through my head They hanged me by the neck, I heard the Devil laugh I was a nervous wreck, I was the first in line Do you want to look right in the Devil's face? You must have seen the ground where we upheld the Law I was a young man then, I was a young man then Spending time on the killing floor Do as you would want to be Joy of labour, sets you free Woke up scared, you know I woke up scared Give me time to show you, how I wound up there They put me in a cell, I heard the ghost in there I wasn't feeling well, I was the first in line Do you want see right through the Devil's eyes? You must've seen the ground where they all stood before I was a young man then, I was a young man then Spending my time on the killing floor Be more than you seem to be Joy of labour, sets you free Woke up dead, you know I woke up dead I was the only one, that saw the road ahead They beat me with their fists, I did the Devil's work And I was on their list, I was the first in line Do you even know just what the Devil does? He drives a man 'til he can't take no more I was a young man then, I was a young man then Serving my time on the killing floor
Yeah what once belonged to Mexico & Indians are now called immigrants or corralled on worthless land in reservations. Some twisted things. Hypocrisy rules.
The buffalo soldiers medal of honor story is straight out of Yellowstone 1883 but REAL i never understood how they can be on horseback encircled by enemies and not get shot, especially when they have Winchesters and 6 shot .32 cal revolvers or 6 shot 44 or whatever, you woudl think that over 2 hours and multiple head on charges that ended in hand to hand combat SOMEONE would land a shot ..... But GOD is good and when it's not your time its not your time
The narrator has an unpleasant voice and a way of speaking that is awkward I cannot listen beyond 2 minutes 48 seconds have someone else read otherwise count me out

Because it is narrated by AI. Don’t be deceived by the owner of the channel simply typing, “It’s me, really.”

Took me 3 attempts to reach Kit Carson peak in Crestone, Colorado.
There is a park in my town named after Kit Carson, with a statue of him.
It's only called survival when you're not the agressor.
Damn what a brutal life
