Didn't wanna admit it but I've been carp fishing for years & never tried zig fishing although alot of surface fishing, after this video, my next session gonna be on zigs, bout time me thinks, cheers guys.👍👍
So would you just tie this tight rig to your main line with a swivel and a lead weight so it sits on the bottom with the line going straight up towards the surface?
Is the N-gage Guru line ok to use on adjustable zigs? only ask as you mentioned about using it in 9-10ft length, it'll have the stretch to pull it with breaking. and of course with the adjustable you don't use that much line? Thanks!
I have a question not about zig fishing but here it is. When surface fishing for carp and they are feeding well I use a trimmed cell dumbell to look similar with a size 8 mixa hook with 12lb cruiser control line and 12lb cruiser control line for the hooklink 4 or 5 feet with Vaseline on the line and a 30g interceptor float but they always seem to ignore my hookbait but take the free offerings what advice do you have to help me please
When I'm surface fishing. I tend to opt for a 15mm cell pop up trimmed down square and super glue the back of the hook to the pop-up - You can come prepared and have 5 or 6 ready to go. Surface fishing is very frustrating but I tend to get good results with this as the hook is pretty well camouflaged
Could be a few things - if it’s bright without surface ripple carp can very often suss the most subtle of surface set ups. I would try a lighter line and I’d also make sure not to trim the hookbait so much that the weight of the hook sinks it into the surface film of the water just that little bit more than than the freebies.
I've been using the Korda zig float on my last couple of trips. Having a nightmare of a time with tangles on the cast! Using dissolving foam and everything - Are you just fishing this direct to a lead clip?
I’ve never done one of these rigs, so what can this rig attach to, just a standard lead at the other end as I seen someone using like a float? Sorry I new to carping lol
Hi, its because there is still a little stretch remaining in pre-stretched line - not really enough for very short hook links, say under 12" as sudden movements put too much strain on the knots, but with Zig type hook links that are much longer the small amount of stretch is extended and much more absorbent of such strain. Although with any 'light' hook link its always a good idea to play fish carefully especially when they approach the bank/net.
The gimmicks sold these days to the gullible carpers is hilarious. Fancy pieces of foam with Fancy names and folk paying thru the nose for it. Unbelievable.
Apart from them stupid sinking zig baits what's happened to them they don't float for very long at all it's made me not trust them now they used to be bigger and better what's happened to them gutted is a understatement as these wher banging
Love the How to's John, always very learnable :)
No worries - glad you like them!

As always enjoy and learn something New with each video.
Are there any subtle differences for the adjustable float zig hook links ?
No not really just the length of hooklink.
Is the N-gage Guru line ok to use on adjustable zigs? only ask as you mentioned about using it in 9-10ft length, it'll have the stretch to pull it with breaking. and of course with the adjustable you don't use that much line? Thanks!
Yes I’d still use this in a 4-5 ft length 👍
Excellent video, even a noob like me can follow it....
Glad it was helpful - good luck!
First 👍

I know what you mean
Anything more than a metre u get tangles, even with foam.
Try the fox ones. I dont have this issue of tangles.
We’ll have a tips for fishing Zigs video coming soon which will cover this 👍
@@thfcdan1986 will try the fox ones, thanks Danny
Iv had the same issue with the adjustable Korda sets and been told the fox ones are better by a more experienced fisherman too
I’ve never done one of these rigs, so what can this rig attach to, just a standard lead at the other end as I seen someone using like a float? Sorry I new to carping lol
Is it best to fish it as a fixed rig?? Or free running with adjustable zig float????
Do you get all them tubs m8
The Ziggers come as three screw together tubs yes - so you’ll have three colours.
How do you store the rig in your tackle box (ie not attached to rod etc??
Cheers
Great vid
There are special dedicated Zig rolls for it. Korda, Fox have them. It a foam roll..😉
You say the mono is pre-stretched and then say 5 to 10ft length will have plenty of stretch, don't make sense to me.

Has any one used the nash zig bugs
Second
or if you are wanting to use 8ft zig insten of wasting all that line buy a zig float and use 3ft of line
this is only half the job, what about casting and the possibility of tangles, especially to carpers new to this way of fishing.
As we said in the video a couple of time we have a top tip video for fishing Zigs that will cover everything else coming soon!
👌🏻
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
Second😏
Sorry you got 3rd place 🤷♂️🤣
