She's a doctor, but also a citizen with right to self defense. Her attack is only to allow her escape, and since she had no intention to kill him, just to hurt him, she's in no way responsible for his death, especially when he kept her hostage.
In my head canon Claire Finn is an older Cassidy Yates who moved to a new universe, legally changed her name, and enrolled in the Union Medical School 😉

there's no dilemma or controversy, the answer is yes, because it's self defense, pure and simple
