Meshuggah has been my absolute favourite band since I heard them in -92. Being a drummer I've had an totally unreachable dream to learn to play their songs. Never gonna happen.
That album came out when I was in high school. Song still gives me chills. When people now say Meshuggah is all slow and math metal I just throw this song on. Or "I". Great cover! Eugene getting swole. Kudos!
this one still eludes me, i memorized basically their entire discography at least on a level of understanding the grooves, i still cant wrap my head around this song up until about the 2 minute mark
2:30 If you like how this part sounds, I would recommend a band called Ne Obliviscaris. It immediatly came into my mind while listening to this! Excellent cover, Eugene!
I've been playing for a month now and this skill level seems impossible to achieve... feels bad man. You did an awesome job man. Pls keep going with the tutorials. I'm gonna need em.
Well I've been playing drums since 2006. And I am not doing tutorials here on my channel anymore. At the moment I am teaching at the Drum Technique Academy. Lots of great content there. Look it up. I also do private Skype drum lessons. Shoot me a message if you're interested.
Dude is a fkn legend. Also I only just realized how awesome this song was only 3 days ago now my favorite drummer is doing a cover of it 🤯 for what is life right now! P.s nailed it dude sounds sick also love your drum tone!
Also you shouldn't forget that this album was recorded in an era before pro-tools and digital editing was even a thing. Those songs were actually *played.*
It's nice to see this. Alot of times with these songs it's hard to find the downbeat, and if your brain hears it wrong once it can't unhear it. So seeing it really helps.
Not sure whether or not I'm surprised not to see something about this in the comments but... The rhythm at the beginning is different in the actual song. Meshuggah does it: 1 e + (2) e + (3) e + (4) e + a 1 e + (2) e + (3) e + (4) e + a .... ETC I don't need to tell you what you did (I'm sure you know) but for anyone else reading, this is: 1 e + (2) + a (3) + a (4) + a 1 e + (2) + a (3) + a (4) + a ...ETC Was that an intentional change/variation? I don't want to sound like some condescending internet prick. Anyway. You're a legend. This was still clean as fuck. Stay awesome
Nice spice with that violin solo. it sound like saxophone inspired Holdsworth, Holdsworth inspired Thordendal, and than it was recreated by the violin. At the end it sounds like nothing else.
Hahaha, no way. That one was like the toughest thing of the song. I learned it from the separate drum stems I had from the recording and I am happy I already forgot it hahaha
Awesome cover! And super cool to hear Jei Doublerice on vocals. His work with Abiogenesis is stunning. I'd recommend everyone to go give "Visualize" a watch!
This is way better than I could ever be, but the kick pattern in the beginning is not like this on the album, the kicks are on the and and a of beat 3, but they should be on the a and and of beat 3,
Great cover Eugene, question, the doublebass parts does it feel natural for you to start swiveling as Thomas does not use that technique in this or any song if im correct
If only this was UNPLAYABLE for the sake of being unplayable. But it's actually FUCKIN' AMAZING MUSIC. (kill that computer violin please it's worth my poop) You rock man, incredible job !
I still got it at home in Ukraine hopefully. I haven't been home since the begining of the Covid crisis a year ago. Although still got one more drum video with that kit on my hard drive that I will post in April probably (Fleshgod Apocalypse - Minotaur)
Yeah, people already pointed out, I guess I didn’t care enough to pay attention to it 😂😂😂 funnily enough that beginning actually is quite simple in comparison to the rest of the song

maybe u should try their easy song like Clockworks

This and Contradicts Colapse were totally great work!
"I" is an absolute masterpiece.
That modem playing the Thordendal solo was *chefs kiss*
Ayyyyye....more Old Meshuggah, brother.
Unbelievable.. just wow.. that violin part was so sick its ridiculous.. so fn good man..
Fantastic cover! I love the ghost notes over the thrashy sections and the "internet distortion" version of the solo was unexpected and awesome
Thank you very much! Those ghost notes were the hardest for me
That violin was epic! And to be honest in my opinion a song like this requires more skill than those 300bpm blast songs. It was refreshing to see this
i used to think the same - then i saw jon rice trying to play 1349
Eugene this is phenominal.🎻🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This song from a 1994 album release. Meshuggah, ladies and gentlemen.
Almost right. 1995.
@@lukerogers151 It was released in may 12, 1995. Almost 30 years ago.
Well done Eugene. Love seeing your covers man!!
First Animals as Leaders, now Meshuggah... the Prog Side of Eugene!
Ottimo lavoro \m/
I've done 3 Meshuggah songs and 2 Dillinger Escape Plan videos even before Animals as Leaders. Make sure you check them out.

Hard band to cover. It's amazing . You keep leveling the bar higher and higher which makes you a very talented musician!
Holy cannoli, you were headbangning more than me, and I didn't have to play drums at the same time.
Бомба !!!
gotta be my favorite meshuggah track of all time - this is the one that got me HOOKED 20+ years ago.
Great setup, performance and idea!
Best cover I've ever seen of this! Damn!

Difficult song to cover, all of DEI was recorded without a click I believe.
The tempos are totally all over the place 🤣
Sometimes I miss the "no click" approach
@@sega.milkis I definitely don’t for bands that have production.
It’s a cop out most of the time to not play to one, especially nowadays.

very good playing.

You are undoubtedly one of my favourite drummers to watch.
What a homage to the Gods of metal. Fuck yeah man.
Zseniális videó lett, mint mindig!
Fantastic job mate!
I was so into the song it took me a second to hear the dial up sounds for the solo.
🤣🤣🤣 The dial-up noise during the solo section....
I’ve been waiting for a Meshuggah cover. Excellent job with all the tempo changes.
Got already 3 of them before this one.
@@EugeneRyabchenkoDrummer I didn’t realize. I’ll check them out
Omg yes❤❤🤘🥂
This is the cleanest cover of this song on the internet. 10/10.
The 56k modem sound was epic.
Hell yeah, one of my favorite Meshuggah tracks!
That "guitar" solo! Epic!
Great as always Eugene! It's great to see how far you have come.
Love it!!!
You never go wrong, bro! Epic
dude this was dope!!!!!
woowww what a cover brother......made it look sooo simplee....damn
That's unreal

This was not intentional, I misinterpreted the pattern. Didn't pay enough attention 🤷🏻♂️

Hate Meshuggah, but it's huge challenge for any drummer. Nice work!!!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
- Me: What's the time signature of the song?
- Thomas: Yes.
🤣🤣🤣
how do you tune the bass drum front and back skin? Medium or high?

Wait a second. So, this entire cover was just an ad for the footblaster???
Always've been
Little dude in the corner kinda freaked me out at first lol
I freaked out as well when he heard what I was about to record
Dear Eugene, do perform a Whitechapel track. Felt similar musical figures in the sound.

Well the tempos here are very slow for swiveling. I do swivel a bit even at slower tempos cause of my weird and extreme pedal settings.
