Correct, my husband and I both have Platinum Wedding Bands. We are married 35 years now. You can polish those scratches & the metal just lies back in place with no metal loss. You find your rings don’t wear down over the years like Gold will. My husband’s aunt once wore her gold wedding band right in half from working with her hands while wearing it constantly. That is why you need to treat all your jewelry with respect and take it off before doing chores.😉
Very useful information. In addition to that, when the white on the gold starts wearing off, it often shows a yellow cast (from the real yellow gold). The most wear & tear on white gold rings shows up on the sides & the underside of the ring where friction & rubbing occurs the most. Platinum patina (wear & tear) is actually treasured by some folks who love the vintage and antiquated appearance.
@@deltaforce3702 that's High-Quality "superwhite" gold. Many vintage (20+ years) and most antique (100+ years) jewelry wasn't made with palladium so the alloy is dull white with tinge of yellow. Almost all modern white gold jewelry is now made with palladium which gives the alloy a uniform bright grey appearance.
That’s not true at all that’s a Meath made by some people that platinum don’t lose metal that’s not true at all. Anything over long periods of wear will wear off. And to say the least platinum is not even the strongest metal or the most resistant that it won’t lose metal it’s even weaker then steel so what makes you think when steel can wear off platinum won’t. It’s just some platinum fan boy saying. Even titanium wears off. Palladium is way more storager then platinum and yet no one have this king of claim because it’s just a Meath developed by some platinum fanatic.
what u r saying is not correct, platinum DOES have this quality that she is claiming and "strength" or "weakness" has nothing to do with it. platinum is the most abrasion resistant precious metal and 90% platinum is used in the most abrasion resistant metal alloy including all metals as well, so you are wrong to put it bluntly
Thank you for this. I’ve been looking into getting earring’s for my daughter but she is allergic to a lot of metals including titanium! Platinum is one she isn’t and gold is okish -Now I know 5 percent is mixed I do worry what would be best. She so wants her ears done. But cost as well I’m not so keen to risk platinum and possibly just try gold and keep fingers crossed.

that’s not how it works it’s an alloy it’s mixed all together with white metals Palladium and silver so there is no more yellow .
