I bought a Phantom 3 Standard and love it. How ridiculous is it they don't just provide a 100 watt charger in all 3's. $00.25 difference in electronic parts.
Thanks for the great overview. The Phantom 3 Advanced and Professional are still incredibly useful filmmaking tools. The 1080p footage from these cameras still holds up for light professional use. Can't thank DJI enough for making great products.

Without getting overly complicated in my answers, this is what I'll say... 1) This is a quadcopter, meaning it has four blades and arms, each attached to either a clockwise or counter-clockwise motor. 2) The DJI Intelligent Flight Battery is a 4,480-mAh, 15.2V li-po battery sized about 6 x 3 x 4 inches. 3) The controller, just make sure to charge via USB on a computer that is charged or plugged in. The 100W charger for Phantom 3 Pro, charges faster than the 57W charger of Phantom 3 Advanced. They take 60 min. (3 pro) and 96 min. (3 advanced and standard) minutes to charge. For a full charge, it takes about 4-5 hours for a full charge before flying. Remember though, the batteries are best STORED at 30% of a full charge (don't charge and store them at 100% for more than a couple days). 4) A Phantom 3 Professional is currently (2/27/2016) about $999 for a basic package in the U.S. Hope that helps, Joe! -Ryan

The best small cheap one is called the Hubsan x4, you can get it on Amazon for $40, it's small, and doesn't have a camera, but it's generally considered the best cheap beginner one. If you want one of these phantoms, the lowest price on is 500, the standard, but it does come with a camera too.
If it had ground station i'd buy the advanced P3 due to the better GPS, motors etc. The 1080/60 fps is also nice. I love the ground station and have spent many hours researching it. Big reason for getting a DJI so I can fly it out on missions. I'm still saving for a vision 2 +and maybe ground station may ne added to the P3 by then. If not it'll be a P2V+.
Lets talk about the Standard model. Can you adjust camera on the transmiter with the thumb wheels and can you set waypoints on the phone app BEFORE takeoff to run in GPS mode
Late question here. "Return Home". Is there a way to set elevation during a return home? So it does not try and fly through a forest. Just stay up till with in a pre stated distance before descending.

It's a bit premature since mine hasn't arrived yet, but I'm interested in your comment in Quest. 13 re: the Phantom will prevent data loss if (as I'm known to do) I forget to power down the video before the Phantom. Have to add the P3 advanced is currently just £100 more than the P2V+ here in the UK at the moment though I can see prices dropping somewhat due to the P3 on the scene. DJI would be nuts not to include ground station for P3's. To keep things simple i'm using 1080-30/60 on my hero4 silver and black GoPro's and the 1080/30 off the P2V+ keeps it all 1080 which helps with editing and KISS :), though the 1080/60 the P3 advanced offers is an improvement. I'm using GoPro studio and have Flux as an option which can actually fill the gaps a lower FPS will give so i'll carry on saving and see if DJI give the P3 ground station and have the benefit of 1080/60.

Ricardo Smarzaro Any drone we have that has the GLONASS GPS on it will be a better choice for the job. It is a more stabilized GPS system. Look at the Chroma and the Phantom 3 Pro or Advanced for GLONASS GPS.

I just got my Phantom 3. There doesn't seem to be any information about setting altitude when creating a flight path with the Pilot App. With ground station on my Phantom 2 vision plus v.3 I was able to set the altitude for each way point. On the pilot app there is no way to set way points or more importantly able to set the altitude for the flight path.

Normal use, get it most of the way down. Every now and again, completely, as in leave the props spinning until its dead (not flying!!!). To store, leave them at 40/50%.

My Phantom 3 Professional will not record. I have updated all the necessary firmware and the DJI pilot app.If I have an XC1 speed SD card, and have tried several others. I cannot seem to fix this problem. Whenever I attempt to record or even take a picture, the screen will black out, the shutter button will display load animation (blue spinning circle), then the DJI logo will appear and my live feed will resume. None of these pictures or videos are shown on my SD card. I have tried to reformat my SD many times, and update firmware, but none of this seems able to work. Any Ideas? Thanks!

I’ve been flying for a year with the P3S and purchased a refurbished unit. Works well no issues except after a flip over from 3 ft from a tree limb I changed cameras and between the upgrades back around the same time of June 2017 I noticed I no longer can see any of the 8 WiFi channels and to this date cant find anyone with a topic of this nature on utube. Anything I can do or what would be possible issues to getting this option back on the app? Thanx for any possible solution or what could be preventing the visual of what the WiFi channels are doing
So I was wondering what phantom not the mavic has headless mode is what I call it which means no matter which way the drone is facing it flies the way you push the stick. So if I launch the drone with the cam facing away from me and I turn the drone and do a 180 so the cam is facing me I can push the stick forward and it flies backwards
After crashing Phantom 3 I replaced camera/gimbal. This was concurrent with changing from pilot app to DJI Go. Put everything back together, power up drone and controller but can't connect to drone on Nexus 7 (which worked before). I can control gimbal and props but no video connection. I click on Equipment button to connect but nothing happens. I've updated everything from all available sources. Any ideas?
for the Standard controller can you upgrade to a better mobile device holder? I seen a video earlier and the phone was very wobbly when in the holder? so can you buy a more stable holder

I used a 32gb works just fine and you can load the videos frome the app to your phone 📲 really easy just did my first video today and loved it

None of these pictures or videos are shown on my SD card. I have tried to reformat my SD many times, and update firmware, but none of this seems able to work. Any Ideas? Thanks!

Hi DroneCamps RC is this platform future proof and supported heavily for years after the Phantom 4 code name Phantom x comes out?Horizon Hobby still supports there Champ 3 channel plane.And would a parachute save any quad this size?And what winds can it fly up to safely?I have 4 years of model flying.And is it good for a average hobbyist?

Drone Camps RC I like Horizon hobby but the Chroma got a few 1 star reviews.And i like the Traxxas Aton quad and the Phantom 3 family.Happy belated new year.Ps should i be afraid to register with the FAA?Or will a AMA number be enough?

HEy Justin, I have a small question abou tthe Phantom 3 advanced, I just bought one but I heard that ir comes with a micro usb cable to attach the controller to the smartphone, but I have an Iphone, so can I use the regular lightning cable that comes with the Iphone to plug it to the DJI controller?

I’ve been flying for a year with the P3S and purchased a refurbished unit. Works well no issues except after a flip over from 3 ft from a tree limb I changed cameras and between the upgrades back around the same time of June 2017 I noticed I no longer can see any of the 8 WiFi channels and to this date cant find anyone with a topic of this nature on utube. Anything I can do or what would be possible issues to getting this option back on the app? Thanx for any possible solution or what could be preventing the visual of what the WiFi channels are doing

So I was wondering what phantom not the mavic has headless mode is what I call it which means no matter which way the drone is facing it flies the way you push the stick. So if I launch the drone with the cam facing away from me and I turn the drone and do a 180 so the cam is facing me I can push the stick forward and it flies backwards

After crashing Phantom 3 I replaced camera/gimbal. This was concurrent with changing from pilot app to DJI Go. Put everything back together, power up drone and controller but can't connect to drone on Nexus 7 (which worked before). I can control gimbal and props but no video connection. I click on Equipment button to connect but nothing happens. I've updated everything from all available sources. Any ideas?
for the Standard controller can you upgrade to a better mobile device holder? I seen a video earlier and the phone was very wobbly when in the holder? so can you buy a more stable holder
