If you tell it to produce food rather than the resource it might be a viable exploit if it applies that bonus to whatever you produce on that cocoa tile

Yea, this is really a great untold history game! There is no Ottoman Empire, and you need to skip from the 12th to the 20th centuries. Let's see what ChatGPT says about those centuries: At its height, the Ottoman Empire controlled vast territories that stretched across three continents: Europe, Asia, and Africa. The boundaries included: Europe: Parts of Eastern Europe, including modern-day Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Greece, and much of the Balkans, extending as far as the gates of Vienna. Asia: Large areas of the Middle East, including modern-day Türkiye, Syria, Iraq, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, and parts of the Arabian Peninsula. Africa: Significant territories in North Africa, including Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and Algeria. Crimea: The Crimean Khanate, an Ottoman vassal state, included the Crimean Peninsula, parts of southern Ukraine, the lower Dnieper River basin, and the northern shores of the Sea of Azov. This region was a crucial northern defense line for the empire. These vast territories made the Ottoman Empire one of the largest and most powerful states of its time, dominating crucial trade routes and exerting significant political and military influence.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm definitely one of the people that prefer actual leaders to be leaders in these games and not random people. I know it's just a game and not supposed to he historically accurate, but it just feels odd to play as someone who never actual led that country. That's just me
I started to play yesterday and it's very weird to see Julius Cesar, Alexander the Great, Washington, Bismarck and many other well-known leaders for some countries, and then Poland suddenly gets Copernicus (who was, in fact, well known and influential scholar, but nowhere close to be leader/"symbol" for Poland - there's at least half dozen kings/leaders/politicians that could easily fill in the gap). Can't speak for other countries, but that's odd for this one.
To all the people complaining about non-political leaders and female ones, you are all gonna be so disappointed in Civ7. Civ7 has non-political leaders like Ben Franklin and Confucius. And I'm sure they will include plenty of female leaders.

(Not to mention that every civ-like game is indeed based on history, as it's main theme of those games.) Still, some choices for certain countries are weird (my personal vote goes against Poland - Copernicus is not in the first 5 or maybe even 10 potential leaders, even if we think of non-kings or politicians). Can't say for all countries (perhaps Argentina's leader is the most known/beloved person in their history), but here it sticks out in a weird way. Let people complain, as long as they're keeping it civil.
One month after the release, the game only had a peak of about 300 people per day on Steam. It has basically been declared a failure. Apart from the problems with the gameplay itself. I think the country and the leader are also a big problem. They are unattractive. It is the product of the contradiction between political correctness and stereotypes. In 2024, we still can't customize the leader or gender in the game. Why can't we customize the characteristics of the country?
