Whyd you drop 2 reviews I the span of 5 mins
Was it a mistake?
Let me congratulate you on an honest and thorough review. Given your background as a former employee of Lego and having been sent the product for free, I would think you would be less critical of the problems with this set. This review gave me great respect for you and your work.
ALL they had to do was include the Skiff + Sarlacc Pit set from earlier this year. Then the price would (just about) be justified. They could even make it a non-exclusive GWP for all Sail-barge buyers.
I read that as including the sail barge as the GWP for people who bought the skiff lol
I couldn't agree more! Those should have been included as a bonus set inside of this one to justify the price and wouldn't canibolize sales as if someone just wanted to buy the Sarlac pit for $80 they could do so seperately.
I just got hit with a huge wave of nostalgia from this review, I remember watching reviews of the original one from the early 2010s when I was little
The original one was 2006
That was the second one...! The original was released in 2006! It's... not that different from this one! (I have it, really wanna rebuild it now, though I fear the Brittle Brown)
Reminder - Rivendell has the same price tag with 2000+ more pieces 😅
There's a bit more variables than just piece count but I get what you are saying.
You have like 500+ 1x1 pieces in Rivendell.
to be fair half of those are absolutely tiny though.
@@legotiblego2129yeah
@@legotiblego2129 So... 1500 more pieces? Still doesn't change the point.
LEGO prices are criminal now. Can't even be bothered to collect anymore.
Same, these prices are absolutely diabolical
@@aaron3822 prices from the depths of hell
Peak capitalism, exploiting their customers.
I just fill PaB cups now... until they'll get a price increase too
So get the size of sets you can afford. They still sell $100 sets.
If $500 is too expensive for you, then don't buy it.
$500 is no problem for some of us. I'll get this day one.
I feel like this is gonna end up going on big sales by next year
I hope so!
Not even the GWP can makeup for the inflated price - what idiots are purchasing those sabers on secondary market if they could brickbuilt that thing for 1/3 of the price ? Not to mention that for a 100eur, you can buy a working metal replica with sounds and sensors ready to do lightsabers fight - while that damn lego is an inaccurate plastic piece which will just collect dust on the shelves.
Also not to mention that if you want to have the full scene with all the characters you have to get the skiff which costs another 80$.
Also 30 $ /€ overpriced IMO.
@@friedrichweitzer3071 both sets just got a 25-30% tax put on top of them basically
Actually twice the skiff for 80eur + you have to BrickLink some more guards to pilot the skiff.
A gorgeous set at an insane price.
That’s insanity expensive! 🤑
Yeah that price is wild. This is a $400 set. The figs are really a let down IMO too. This set should be combined with the Sarlac pit for a $450.00 price tag with the GWP as well and it would be a smash day one purchase.
More than that- it should have had the sarlac pit set with it and a second skiff as there two in the film! With a couple of extra figures for the second skiff a couple more Gamorian guards or something!
This is not a 400 Euro set, especially compared to Barad Dur which has 5471 pieces and much more detail and interesting building technics. It also comes with a lot of exclusive figures, unlike the Sail Barge.
Agreed. They should have done that.
@@corn.3892 Barge is definitely over priced, but Barad Dur isn't a $400 set though...it's a $460 set.
@@brett4932 That's not even 20% more money, for better building technics, MUCH better figures and not just some recycled ones from play sets and more than 35% more pieces. So the comparison is fair.
Where is Yak Face? Multiple G Guards? Wee-Rees? The rest of the Max Rebo band? More aliens are needed. 🤷.
The model itself looks fantastic. Also agree, the sails should be higher.
Especially when there arent already like 20...
Best Set is the Cantina
Minifig design and LACK of minifigures is a HUGE let down in addition to the overpricing... Hell, the Boba Fett's Throne Room came with 7 minifigs whereas this only comes with 11. Absolute travesty.
Dont forget Tessek which should use the female skirt leg piece and quaren head fro BoBF palace set.
Yotts Orren and Klaatu use the same headpiec as Wooof -> they could throw one of them in this set and the other one in the 80eur overpriced skiff and make the most of the new mold and so please the fans
The price? Well to quote Jabba himself, bar gon wan chee cox pah, ol Jedi (there will be no bargain, young Jedi) 😁
The recipes at 5:41 say "Womp rat stew" and "Bantha Roast" in aurebesh.
And there's scribbling in the jail cell saying "Han was here" 😂
0:35 LEGO its way of reminding us that they genuinely don't care and are aware that Salacious B. Crumb should have pupils.
He should, but so should the Sith figures. I guess they’re trying to be more consistent, but I agree it still looks bad.
They do care, though. It’s obviously a conscious effort to remove the pupils from figures with different eyes.
@@lordly123 ‘only the best is good enough’ 🥲
As much as i think the proce is way too high, the studded look on the outside looks great. The barge would look very strange smooth
Yeah, the studs are nice. Especially here, makes it look rugged.
I agree.
Agreed. There are a lot of models I prefer with the smooth look, but Tatooine is a scrapyard planet, and the bare studs give it a scuffed up look that's about as close as you'd get to the irregular painting on the barge from the film. It could just do with a few slotted tiles here and there I think to break up the larger sections of studs.

For further context of how hugely overpriced this is, this costs the same as 76269 Avengers Tower, which has almost three times the number of figures and is a drastically larger set. Knocking $100 to meet the so-called perfect price per part ratio is being too generous; this needs $150 knocked off because there just isn't that much substance here even at $400, so $350 is where it should be.
Am I being too harsh and asking too much? Yes, but then so is Lego asking for half a grand for a set that's a lot smaller than other sets of the same price range.
You are not being too harsh at all, this should be 350 Max. Lego is just being REALLY greedy here. I hope this doesnt sell well
"Minifigure collectors will be happy with this"
...
- Jabba is basically the same
- Max Reebo is the same
- Crumb is on the hutty putty
- The 3 "unique" figures are frankly boring and under detailed
- Droids are basic
- Leia is the only good new figure
- Reused Gamorrean guard which is an excellent figure
- And Bib Fortuna who is in his TBOBF outfit... yeah
Leia is a downgrade to the last version, the dualmolded legpiece looks wrong and less accurate than the last one. Torso, head and hair are bit different but not better or worse than the last.
Bib Fortuna also has the fat headpiece from the boba fett series, much worse than the headpiece from jabbas palace that looks way better. The figure could be so much better
> Lego adults try to be happy challenge (impossible).
@@yurisei6732 its not that hard, just keep the "only the best is good enough" in mind and adhere to it they have the technology to make figures perfect - dualmolds arme and legs, leg prints, side prints, arm prints
Do not omit all the needed details (in other words save money) when you asking insane money -> look what you get with a 4eur CMF figure, then compare that level of details, new molds to figures in overpriced exclusive sets - it looks insane !!!
@yurisei6732 If that floats your Sail Barge. Personally, it's not great value for money. For the same reason the AT-AT never piqued my interest - both sets don't have nearly enough "new" stuff to quantify that price point, when sets like the Mos Eisley Cantina contain 10x more value for money and don't have any compromises with the overall design/product
@@yurisei6732Lego adult or not, you have to agree that 400$ is delusional for a set like this.
The three lesser known characters were perfectly chosen - "Klaatu", "Barada" and "Nikto" (as they were known before being given proper names) being a nice Army of Darkness reference as well.
And "The Day The Earth Sttod Still"!
Still missing Yotts Orren, Klaatu (Wooof repaint) and Barada (Kithaba repaint)
i’ve no interest in purchasing this set, yet i’m here anyway! i know it’s impossible, but i’d 100% watch you review every single lego set in existence if i could. you’re just the best!! 💕

I think the studs work for the barge. From what I remember of the movie it was weathered and not mint. The plethora of access windows stood out. To me the studs help create this look better than if it was all tiled with raised access windows
I actually really enjoy the studs on this one as well!
Two reviews in one day is just incredible. Keep up the good work❤❤❤
The failure in product management here is posing this a UCS when it very clearly should have been a Master Builder Series like the Mos Eisley Cantina set as it’s striving to be both a display piece and a play-set. Thus the pricing is out of line, and the ridiculous decision to save a few bucks and use the later “fat Fortuna” headpiece in lieu of the correct original one just shows how little they now respect accuracy and the buyer. This doesn’t even touch on the lack of all the other characters and the missing Skiff/Sarlac pit… I adore my original fake-controversy Jabba’s Palace and the later Jabba’s Barge and Skiff sets…. Hard pass on this set.
The idiocy and disrespect of the SW team has reached a new level. There is so much wrong with this set. It could have been done right and it would be a day 1 buy even for the 500eur if done right. If you compare the details on the figs with any CMF, its atrociousness how much details and new molds is put into a 4eur figure while laziness and cheapening is given to a 500eur premium product.
@@ondrejm5042 Well put…
Fun fact: Lego seems to have changed the name to "sail barge." Officially, it's called a pleasure barge in the Star Wars universe.
I'm having flashbacks to the Slave I drama
@@TiagoCatarino They should've renamed pleasure barge to Starship Barge. iykyk
This has always been called the sail barge since 1983.
literally nobody calls it that.
The torture droid refers to it as “the master’s sail barge” in 1983’s RotJ, so no, you’re just making stuff up.
The fact that you can see salacious B crum having pupils on the box and not on the figure is crazy💀
Interesting interiors, but maybe they could have had more space for the band near Jabba. But this seems more like a playset than display piece and should be cheaper for parents to buy their kids.
That being said, the leg details on Slave Leia could have been done better or more accurate. The crimson loincloth color could extend down almost to the feet, and be painted just in the center, having the flesh color of the legs on the side. The outfit also had short green booties. As it is, Leia looks like she's wearing a pair of shorts and ready to stand knee deep in a creek looking for crawdads.
I agree on princes Leia not looking like in the movie. She didn't wear short pants in the movie. Also the box says 18+ so there was no need to cover up Leia.
I'm most disappointed that you need to buy this in order to get the gift with purchase lightsaber. Too bad Lego doesn't sell those smaller display sets by themselves. Imagine a collection of small lego lightsaber builds! Oh well...
Yeah. I originally saw the lightsaber set on Reddit and was like, "What, is this a new line from Lego? My bank account is going to suffer!" and then I find out right away that it's an exclusive gift that comes with the set (which I don't care about) in this video. It was quite the emotional rollercoaster.
u can build it yourself from parts for 1/3 or less the price it will be presented on secondary market
Not to mention that every true SW fan should own at leas one working metal saber replica - they are cheap already, for a 100eur i was able to get a very good one which can withstand fighting (tested)
2 videos in 5 minutes?? Thank you Tiago!!
I'm dead 💀
@@TiagoCatarino and I’m not surprised 😂
I used to own the 2006 Jabba's Sail Barge so this set feels very nostalgic to me. There are some things about the Minifigures that could have been better in my opinion, but it's still an awesome set.
Skiff and Sarlaac pit definitely should've been included in this, not separately
maybe just the skiff with another alien crew, and the skiff set with pit should include 2 more aliens and correct Boba from ROTJ and it would be perfect
LEGO cured my FOMO by forcing me to me miss out on sets because of their terrible prices. Thank you LEGO! You saved me a lot of money!
i think they are in process of curing me - i was so pumped up for this set, i skipped many of the other UCS as i dont collect oversized vehicles - only minifig sized one which could be used in large scenarios/landscapes
This set is such a letdown with too many issues that i would think twice if i should spend 300eur on it.
Same with me 😂
Leia's hair piece is the best probably the best hair piece, in my opinion! It's so detailed! The mold is so intricate, and the gold prints looks so good!
Avengers Tower has the same price, also licensed from Disney, 1000 pieces more AND has 31 figures. No way this should cost 500

You can always get a good idea of Tiago's opinion from his expression in the video thumbnail. I'd like to play poker with Tiago in the future. 😂
What a kick in the nuts that price tag is.
LEGO is alienating their buyers more than the amount of aliens in the set!
400 incl. the sarlaac set + a second skiff + 3 more goons. that would seem okay for me
Deku tree🤝jabba’s sail barge
Two sets I’ve been waiting for on FOR YEARS but they come out wayyy too overpriced and I can’t afford them.
Just compare it to Rivendell & it should become clear why this is a failure.
Rivendell is better
Rivedell is a piece of art, this is just another big Star Wars ship.
Enjoy your Rivendell. Day 1 purchase for me
It does look pretty gorgeous, hope we can get a smaller Sarlacc / skiffs set to complete the scene. Shame about the five hundred bones though, especially coming off the back of the absurd value of those Fortnite sets.
In Ned Flanders voice : €500 dollareedoos?
The cup with the brown liquid came in an $11 friend’s set earlier this year. If anybody wants one it is a cheap set to get it in

I have 2 problem with the figs... first the missing pupils for Salacious B. Crumb... I have no idea why and who thought at LEGO, that these no pupil eyes look good 😅 And the second is Leia's legs. dual molded legs are usually nice, but if you check the pictures from the movie, it looks totally different... She had a skirt, with open sides, and based on this minifig it looks like she had a red shorts... 😬 Btw the set is pricey, however I will have to purchase because of the lightsaber GWP... 😅
It's bad enough to have a slave on a LEGO set, so I guess they wanted her to look more respectful and covered up? I really don't know
This is definitely something from Disney's end as they otherwise are adamant about not giving exposure to 'Hutt-slayer' Leia.
@@TiagoCatarino That's an absurd notion. Yes, Jabba made her a slave, but she literally uses her enslavement to dispose of him. It's an empowering moment in the movie. And the outfit is iconic.
@@TiagoCatarino I think its the same BS, as when they realized that Boba Fett's ship was the Slave 1, and ohno, we cannot use that anymore... 🤦♂which was also sad... Btw I am not sure which would be more respectful, to acknowledge a badass female character and create a minifig on actual look from the movie, or alter it to show less skin? Strange...
@@csiki911LEGO did that literally once. In material which came out after the LEGO set, Boba’s ship has been referred to as the Slave 1. It is such a non-issue.
$500? SCREW LEGO THEY ARE CRAZY
00:55 are you drunk? 20 figs would fit the price tag! If it wasn't for the price hike after its retirement, many collectors would boykott the set without batting an eye!
Last years UCS Venator had 2 minifigures. I think 11 is kinda cool! And I’m not drunk, never been. Have you?
@@TiagoCatarinoI don't think the venator comparison was fair, as it is not meant to be displayed with minifigures* - or even possible to with them on it (if you want it to make sense).
Lego is really out of it's mind in general. And his set was sponsored, so he would not dare to say something bad...
The pricing is just disgusting.
@@TiagoCatarino How can you compare apple to car (not even orange). Venator is just a huge model, they threw in some figs just to make people purchase it for Rex who was like 100e eur at that time (just to piss them off and put it in an 11eur set - im lucky i did not purchased the venator - they even lied in the booklet stating that the figures are EXCLUSIVE to this set)
The stand is useless and just take up the piece count - figures should be displayed ON the barge and adding a second skiff (without sarlacc) would make space for another 3 guards. Making the model itself a smidge bigger would even make more space in it and ideally have the 2nd floor room on the back - check crossections of the barge for reference
Hello! Just wanted to say that c3po did NOT have a silver leg in Episode 6. Thnx!
wow this should be 300$ 😂
Thank you for an honest review, especially concerning the price, a lot of reviewers are all but that, instead of just selling and trying to justly the price.
Ever since I tried knockoff LEGO sets, stomaching these insane prices became impossible. $500 for this is just crazy. Sure, quality is not quite the same and there might be some minor quirks, but it's damn close and you're paying 10% of the price for it.
Ditto. When Pantasy or Cobi make sets that are as good or better for far less money, it really shines a spotlight on how crazy Lego's pricing has gotten.
I fully support it. How does Lego explain this? The Chinese make it 10 times cheaper, and they don't pay a license... But, let's say it's 100% of the Chinese price, we get a set 5 times cheaper and with a license.
@@danykwood A lot of the legit alternative brands do have proper product licensing (as opposed to the Chinese counterfeit Lego brands, which are a whole different matter).
@@danykwood All it takes is a look at LEGO's net profit. It's in the billions every year. So clearly whatever costs they're experiencing (And I don't want to downplay it, it obviously costs a lot when you're not stealing and cutting corners like Chinese do), they still have very fat margins on top of it and that is the explanation how clone manufacturers are able to go this low, they just don't have such lucrative margins.
What quality issues ? My 300? dont remember the price UCS Sandcrawler set started to completely crack on almost every second brick when i wanted to disassemble it - imagine someone pays 500 and in 3 years most of the brick will crack (while other 30y old bricks are as good as new)
Should've been $400 and its a crime they reused the fat bib fortuna from boba's palace instead of the RotJ one. It's the wrong figure
This is gonna be the next Luke landspeeder and you’ll see it on shelves for clearance 😂
If I had the money to buy this, I would buy Barad dur!
Actually Riwendell first. Barad Dur only on Day 1 with the nazghul (which i did)
The eyes comment. You're killing me with these "inside" jokes (if that makes sense here...maybe I should call them inside jabs). Haha anyway, very entertaining.
What do you mean?! 👀👀👀
Impressive model, and minifig selection. Actually expected this to be more as it's probably about $650-$700 here in Canada. Space restrictions and price have put me off the large UCS sets for a while now. Can't wait to see the micro build.
people will complain about the price all they want but we know if you are a serious collector, you will still buy it. People always have something to pick at with every set and they always end up going on backorder anyways. To me it's worth it, maybe we have been spoiled by Lego and our expectations of what we get from sets have gotten out of hand.
Recent Lego Daily Bugle set has 25 minifigs with similar amount of pieces (3700 if I'm not wrong). But the price of Daily Bugle is $300, but this one is way more expensive. The should put Luke and others in this set at least.
Love your reviews and your perspectives! Aren't you going to review the Deku Tree set? I'm eager to see what you think!
Great review dude. Thanks for mentioning the pricing. The set is amazing. But I simply can’t justify that price, especially when Rivendell is the same price with more minifigs and 2000 more pieces
This set really proves the star wars price tax
I kick myself to this day for losing/disposing my "vintage" Lego collection years back...which included the og yellow slave Leia. I agree, that new hair piece is 🔥🔥
This set is amazing! Thanks Tiago for the review and for also not dodging the topic of the over priced elephant in the room.
The designers put it perfectly 😂🎉😂
Sets like this make me proud to pay Ali Express instead,
accept no imitation
Don't forget to add the extra $80 for the new sarlacc pit to complete the model! Brings it up to well over $600 after taxes which is pretty wild
The Skiff being separate is ridiculous.
No Sarlac Pit? Where’s Lando, Luke, and Han Solo?
Buy the older model. Its better than this current one.
That’s a different set which came out earlier. For the price point, should’ve been included though.
@@lordly123 yes
I am so happy that this big piece is very cheap , I was shocked when I heard the price , it is almost free of price 🎉
Love it. Day 1 purchase. Don’t want to miss the GWP
The interior looks very similar to the hasbro one i bet that was the inspiration
unfortunately it should have been inspired by the crossection but then it had to be a bit bigger to at least fit the 2nd floor at the back
You know why it cost £429.99 because Disney are greedy not just logos fault the amount they charge for a licence has to be absolutely ridiculous so that gets passed onto the customers
I think both are greedy - another license from Disney gets:
2024 - 76269 Avengers Tower - 9.6 c/piece, 30 figs (dont count that brickbuilt robot for a fig, also has one huge fig and one tiny fig), also a licensed set from Disney -> STAR WARS is a rip-off and no wonder its a diminishing brand
Just a reminder you can get a old Jabba barge for HALF this price on BL and Cantina had 21 figures for LOWER price
This may likely be a Costco bundle for $399 by June 2025
If you can wait that long
2:50 well old ships were riveted and not welded so maybe lego wanted to give some riveted details with the side studs
The Sail Barge does not look like that. Not saying studs are bad but what you’re suggesting is provably false.
Time to sell my kidney
Great Review! Despite its issues, this LEGO Set is definitely a Heater!
Nice set, I will definetly pick up one for me!
I think the studs look nice, it lets you know that it is lego. I feel that lego sets nowadays try to get rid of studs to often.
They'll continue to charge, so long as you're still buying...
I’m not saying it’s not big, because it is, But is anyone else disappointed it’s not bigger? Especially considering the PPP is so bad
Me when looking at the crossection picture and see that it has actually 3 floors + the upper deck - the dungeon is in a bottom floor with the engines and on the back there is this 2nd (actually 3rd) floor -> so yes, in the end i have to go and build my own instead of purchasing this
Lack of pupils is faaaar from Perfect IMO
It’s a dream come true set. It’s pretty much perfect.
Looks massive awsemone minifigs great review 👍
this is exactly why I never ever buy directly from Lego anymore, I will only ever buy sets second hand
For that price they should have provided quite a few extra minifigs to populate the barge, like they did with the cantina.
I watched a Gorlock the Destoyer video and got recommended this video, very fittig and a great lego set
yes it is very expensive, but im still going to buy it. i dont like the fact that its $500, but the sail barge sequence is on of my favorite scenes in ROTJ
For a company based in Denmark they definitely seem to have become Americanized with the attitude of bigger is way better. I would have been happier if this had been half the size. And $500?! They’re even pricing me out of even the smaller sets just based on how much they’re charging for how little they’re giving you.
i have the previous 2 small versions - good for kids to play, but i wanted always an minifig sized accurate set - this is just an improved kids set with some nice details but faa from perfect minifig scale representation of this vehicle
Probably not gonna buy this set for such a price, but maybe if it goes on sale. HOWEVER, I'm looking forward to downloading the instructions and using their techniques for building the angled hull. Turn the whole thing upside down, and one has a nearly perfect hull for a 17th or 18th century sailing frigate!
I wished they release a play set. I don’t have room for this 😂
I really like that they didn't make the exterior studless. It gives it that worn, almost decrepit look.
Nice review man!
The day 1 Luke's Lightsaber Exclusive gwp with this set helps lessen the price shock but once that goes it doesn't make sense to get this at all until close to retirement.
Not really.
At that price point, I am going to wait for the next lord of the rings set! The dark tower took it all out of me this year!
I honestly am not really impressed with this set but I know that some people will! I love this review and thank you for doing it so in-depth! With all the sets coming out and have been out, I can’t justify $500 for 3500 pieces.
My end of year money will be going to the lion knights castle and medieval town square!
good for you
Nice set, which definitely does not fit with the price tag - price cut figure selection (Bib Fortuna head piece, CPO legs etc), low number of minifigures (no Yakface, band members etc) , no side skiff. It does not live up to previous UCS SW sets at all
Anyone else think that these figures could be reused in a potential jabba’s palace next year?
The stand is also to give it a feeling of hovering.
Exactly the same price as Rivendell, which has EVEN MORE figures, and over 2200 pieces more! Same with the Razor Crest (although that's slightly more in price). Both are infinitely more interesting sets to build, rather than being a great big slab of a single-coloured exterior.
enjoy your Rivendell then. I’ll have this set day 1
Should have included the Sarlak and skiff with an exclusive Return of the Jedi Boba Fett.
