The Mortal Kombat game irreversibly changing the console was incredible.
It was the batteries
18:35 This honestly adds a ton of credibility to those old creepypastas where someone got a copy of a game where the character died in some strange way. I could legitimately see this Infinite Nightwolf Murder footage happening to someone and they freak out, write about it, and it being framed exactly like a typical creepypasta 😅
Its all fiction still, but I can see how people come up with it now at the very least
Hahaha *_"fiction!"_*
Yeah, the crying blood and dead kids ones are fake, but there's a lot to be said about bad cartridges. Having Majora's Mask start strobing black frames after a power surge had me rattled. Oh, and my Pacman cartridge dying was awesome! My Atari is running off of a spliced laptop charger, and that 0.2v difference makes the audio lock-up randomly.
@@asialskyI read "strobing" as "throbbing" for some reason
I'm normal
I’m pretty sure Nightwolf isn’t even the P1 character here.
Which makes Vinny the creepypasta monster.
Reminder in that particular hack they made him a blue Shao Khan since it was cut down for a multicart
@@drantigon you've been watching too many pornos
Vinny having to improvise bizarre ways of capturing these wretched systems for streaming is my favorite part of Plug & Plague
Same. I especially like the adapter snakes
@@MrWolfSnack10:02
Wretched.
It is like watching a kid struggle with a hand-me-down, last gen console with a really, really dodgy RF adapter.
Like- that's not an insult to the kid, they'd have fun (I'd have fun) but GOD at this point- yikes. This is just pain.
Incredibly wretched. I also like the idea that nobody would have even known if he hadnt mentioned it.
All things considered, it’s a miracle that this thing didn’t burst into flames.
Hello, this Handheld FamicloneTM has been treated with picric acid, do not attempt to jimmy the buttons too hard, or the device will literally combust into lemons.
I had one modeled after a PSX with NES and Atari games on it.
It did *_exactly that_* after about 20hrs of total use.
@@MrWolfSnack In the words of Alex Trebek, "You have led a terrifying life." Glad that didn't put you in the hospital, or worse.
My mom bought me this exact thing for Christmas, I pressed the dpad a bit too hard and it just like completely stopped working. I'm gonna miss "Fruit Pig" "Duck" and "Pika Chu"
I've gotta ask how long this thing lasted for.
28:50 Vinny managed to have the EXACT same concern and reaction of the double faced character in this game on the bootlegged Reactor plug and llay version and the official version of the game. Absolutely beautiful
I swear, these plug & plays recycle so much stuff, and Vinny's memory of them all is so fleeting, you could do a whole compilation of him having the exact same reaction to the exact same games over and over and over.
If I had to guess, the battery getting low is causing random bit flips in the device’s RAM. There’s got to be a more specific answer, though, considering the flips seemed to be happening in the same registers, consistently.
@@MrWolfSnack as if they would even bother putting in that much effort
@@MrWolfSnack maybe it’s just the fact that they’re using 5 cent microchips regardless of the clock speed 😂

That person is joel.
31:33 I love how at the exact moment that Lee receives the CBT, the game just crashes
It's like poetry
the WHAT
oh nvm you meant what you meant
I swear this wretched thing is surviving through spite alone
That’s a mean thing to say about Vinny.
Jesus christ. I live in China and I have this exact same thing right in my drawer. Someone gifted to me as a random gift and I actually considered mailing it to Vinny, deterred by the postage costs.
I can't believe this thing actually made it into a video.
I like to order things directly from china and this thing gets recommended to me all the time lol
Nice pfp fellow Rozen fan 😊
Yes, this is the Plug and Play I gave to Vin at TMG last year lol
My mom is the one who gets stuff from her wholesaler to sell to people. She sells them for $15 while the wholesaler sells them for like $5 each as it's a mass production sold and out. The $10 goes to the seller which would be my mom.
I told her not to do these or any Pokemon/Nintendo stuff because of how bad it can be and the legal reasons of bootlegs.
But yeah, this is REALLY easy to get caught in as sometimes wholesalers will give you these for free when you purchase stuff from them a lot.
Also, most of them are basically just these emulator bundles there's nothing ever that crazy about them sadly. This one was glitched, so it led to some fun moments for the stream, which is nice.
28:50 Vinny played this one before and it is in fact the second time he was befuddled by Asuraman's design
The first Plug and Plague of the year is also a mini Corruption Stockpile. Also that handheld is sold at Wal-Mart but without the Mario/Nintendo games, so you get stuff like Friday the 13th and TMNT in a Japanese Rom instead.
The analog horror segments of Plug and Plague are my favorite.
Some Hummer Team bootlegs too
@@AlyphRat Specifically the Non Infringing Hummer Team Bootlegs as that's half of the game list on the Walmart ones. As it doesn't have any of the usual Mario/Contra bootlegs as seen here
I see Walmart has adopted the mobile game storefront approach of things.
"Accept literal trash of dubious nature, no matter how hazardous, and put a pricetag on it"
Speaking of Steam accepting literally anything, there's a furry CV game on there now.
Which is crazy, but somehow still not as bad as the AI asset flips that will soon flood Steam.
@@BloodWraith777 you say that as if it's new for walmart.
Also, I prefer steam let whatever can afford it up there than arbitrarily gatekeep and "QA test" every single indie game ever.
26:12 Raid on Bungeling Bay was Will Wright's first game. He designed his own map maker software to build the enemy bases, and he had so much fun building bases that it became his inspiration for SimCity.

@@paul-nj1igat about 18:20, when he play MK ironically.
Honestly, with his history, that's the perfect character to show up in a glitch.
My attempt at making a creepypasta out of the MK4 sequence. Enjoy.
"There I sat, holding the small, blue Game Boy ripoff. Turning it on, I was greeted with some sort of strange screen with a celestial background. There were two options for me to select. Option 1 was Chinese, and Option 2 was English. Of all the bootlegs I had ever played, I was never given a choice between the manufacturers' language and my own. After selecting the second option, I was immediately sent to a screen with somewhat familiar names on them. Only at first glance, however, as the second entry in this list of trash was titled Super Mario 14; a game I don't remember having existed. I couldn't help but laugh at the stupidity of it.
But before playing, I wanted to get a good look of all of the available selections, to see if any of them could top the aforementioned Mario 'sequel'. There were some more familiar names as I scrolled on through. Jackal for the NES, a classic in my regards, was on the next page, as well as some others like Chip and Dale, but everything else was some sort of nonsensical words and phrases. On the third page, however, something caught my eye. Mortal Kombat 4.
I had always been a huge fan of those games. I'd play the first two all the time when my dad would bring me to the local arcade as a kid. Heck, one of my first games was MK1 for the Super Nintendo. Y'know, the silly version that has sweat instead of blood? I'd buy some more home versions of the games like Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the Nintendo 64 later in my life. I remember having very mixed emotions when Mortal Kombat 4 hit the arcades back in the day. The graphics, sound effects, animations and fatalities were all good and fun, but the gameplay itself was lacking. Still, I'd spend hours at the cabinet, besting all of my friends with the cool new character Quan Chi. Man, those times were fun.
Back to the handheld, though. I was very perplexed by the inclusion of MK4 in this little bootleg. There's absolutely no chance it'd be the same as in the arcades, right? If this thing tried to run a game of that fidelity, it would practically explode. Then again, with it's fragile buttons and awful speaker quality, that would probably be for the best. This 'game boy' needs to be put out of it's misery. Anyway, I pressed the A button and was greeted with a very simple title screen; MK4. No fanfare, no spectacles, no sounds. Just those 3, semi-detailed characters.
This game had to either be some strange kind of demake, or just a bullshit romhack, right? A demake would actually be pretty rad, but I would only be greeted with the second option as soon as I pressed Start. I was taken to a very low-res character select screen. There were a couple familiar faces. I think? It was hard to tell what these garbled messes of pixels were without thinking about it. The first recognizable fighter was Nightwolf. This wouldd affirm my claim that this was nothing more than some bullshit romhack slapped together with no thought, as Nightwolf was never in MK4. As my eyes wandered across the screen, more faces made themselves clear to me. There was Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Shao Kahn, Kano, New Sub Zero, and Stryker. And not only them, but at least 5 different copies of them, each with their own color!
Yep, this is definitely trash, alright."
I may continue this, but I'd rather not.
It's funny how nightwolfs sprite is literally just shao kahn
Woah! I bought that for my mom some time ago because she digs all the retro games (she's like 68 but still rocks Battle City, Mario, Arkanoid and a few other simple NES games). We had to return this garbo because out of the advertised 6h of battery life, it would die after 1.5h and that's after a whole night of charging it. I ended up buying her a Miyoo Mini which she's been happily using for over half a year now
reading the start of this comment, i was itching to recommend you a miyoo or something similar. im evangelical for these things.
@@bruciekibbutz2947 It is slightly under-utilized because she only plays NES and maybe one SNES game but she's happy and that's all I need :)
I like how there are a bunch of "games" that appear in every single Plug n Plague but Vinny never remembers any of the names.
...Though to his credit, Plug n Plays aren't exactly oozing originality with names like Small Dinosaur, Fish War, and Goblet Tower
the noise at 1:17 sounds like a penguin beating-off

at 47:12 i manually wrote down the japanese characters to put into google translate, and in japanese a rough translation of what's written is "It's good, It's good. Everything's back to normal. What's going on with Peach?"

Google Translate is real bad with Japanese, because Japanese is a context-dependent language.

I feel like I've just gotten transported a decade into the past.
The only thing missing is Season 1 Vinny personality.
The part at 37:21 had me dying from the "wretched sound" and "rotten music."
18:36 "For some reason the game is glitched up, because once the invisible being started smacking me, he never stopped. The fights in MK4 usually end within a minute. but this lasted for nearly 3 minutes. And the graphics are messed up, with little glitched pixels all over the place with my character popping in and out of the screen.
Which was weird, but I just repluged my handheld back into the usb port, and then started again. I wasn’t about to let a little glitch stand in my way. So I started again and this time defeated him without any problems."
I think the colors are blown out because there's no backlight, and their solution was making everything as bright as possible.
Unless there is a backlight and I'm talking crap here xD
Oh my god. I got one of these for Christmas. It's at my desk right now. It was weirdly surreal seeing the same device in the thumbnail.
I somehow managed to avoid bootleg consoles throughout my whole childhood, but my mum, bless her heart, decided she should get me one at age 22. It may be cheap rubbish full of bootlegs, but I can't help but love it.
I blame Amazon. They've priced their merchant services so high that all the good ones (or at least the ones that survive the crackdowns) nope out of the store.
Louis Rossmann had done a series that started with some loose-fitting crimps then went into criticizing Amazon's storefront for being so automatic with automation worse than Google.
16:19 Vinny calls me out specifically
Same
He's bringing the plug n plague back! I love when he suffers for our amusement. Like a real G.
My mom got me one of these for Christmas because I said I wanted a switch. I played this for a total of five minutes and now it lives in a drawer collecting dust until the end of time.
I've always wondered where all these chinese bootlegs get their games from. Like most of them are probably a copy of a copy collated and extracted dozens of times. But there has to be the original bootleg somewhere. The mother sauce. The Prime Bootleg.
The oldest Famiclone I've seen is from 1987 called the Zhiduoxing 70 (Wise Star 70).
Back in the day they probably used pirated copies of famicom games from Taiwan to make bootleg games its no coincidence that the majority of the early nes/famicom bootlegs from the early to mid 90s were made in Taiwan and sometimes mainland China
Nowadays they probably download a list of nes and famicom games from the internet
What ever happened to the cool modified NES that Vinny was given to do corruptions on a real console. He hasn't used it since that one stream, I'm pretty sure he was given it and not just loaned for a single stream, it had custom Vinesauce branding just for him.
well NES corruptions might not be too interesting if he doesnt have the games on hand. he'd need some 400 in 1 cartridge for that- or to hook up a plug-and-play to that corrupter
57:28 Did not expect to see a chicken doing the Dr. Livesey walk today.
46:23 That glitching looks like film grain in an olde-timey cartoon
11:45 Yeah, Vin. Technos's Kunio-kun series (which included Renegade and River City Ransom) included multiple dodgeball titles. I'm not sure which one that was (or was a romhack of).
that's the very first one (for NES/famicom), nekketsu koukou dodgeball bu. it's what eventually got localized to NES super dodge ball
Thanks you Vincent Crust for showing us this piece of technology
42:27 Funny enough, I think GALG might be the game Xevius (Xevious?) reskinned to resemble Galaga, which if true is a really bizarre workaround for not being able to find a Galaga ROM
18:35 I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream
41:03 The fake tetraminos are all braille characters
I remember Joel laughing his ass off at "Burbles" when he did a bootleg console stream 2 years ago.
I bought a couple of Game Boy Advance multicarts from the Philippines in 2004 and one of the games included was Mario 14. It also had a Mario 1 hack based on Luigi's Mansion where he has no pants and it played a 10 second loop of the Ghost Busters theme.
btw this handheld has the real NES hardware inside it, just minimized into SOC. The speed difference comes from PAL to NTSC conversion, as someone mentioned correctly.
I got this exact plug and play this christmas
Walmart sold a variation of this thing for 10 dollars during the holidays. Looks the same, and has very similar menu graphics. But with fewer stolen “real” games (it still has some though, like Mappy and Nintendo’s Pinball). But at least the games seem to run at more reasonable speeds.
Fun fact: Will Wright developed Raid on Bungeling Bay. The game would (somehow) inspire him to go on to create Sim City a few years later.
because he had more fun designing the stages for it than players did playing the regular game
Its fine, this is just hardly a particularly great way to experience the game.
raid o bungelinghy
Damn I missed this entire segment? I'm glad RUclips vods exist, thank you very much Johnny.
17:54 the start of a creepypasta
Looking at this feels like it's giving my eyes diabetes
honestly for 10$ and if you have NOTHING ELSE to emulate NES on its not bad, 9 year old me would have loved having something like this
You can get an SF2000 for $20 that is also not amazing but way way better for NES, and can play actual roms. And for $40 to $50 you can get something actually decent from Miyoo or Anbernic that emulates up to PS1 really well, is solidly built and has good controls.
2:00 hear u loud and clear
Pretty sure a 3.5 jack coming from a monitor or TV with headphone capabilities can just be plugged straight into a 3.5 mic port on a PC. All you need is a long male to male audio jack and the PC should think it's a microphone
44:18 I'm disappointed by the amount of people that thought NAMCOT was a bootleg thing and not Namco's home-publishing arm in the early-mid 80s.
38:12 Gyrodine was basically Taito's answer to Xevious, and it's OK, but more noteworthy for being Toaplan's inspiration for Tiger-Heli than anything else. And on that note...
37:25 If I may be *the one person* to play devil's advocate for Micronics, outside of the intro music that port is basically exactly what Exed Exes/Savage Bees is. And they do have SOME good ports, they're just not as high profile as stuff like Ghosts n Goblins or 1942. Tiger Heli, Twin Cobras, Son Son, and Elevator Action are all solid. And Raiden Trad is great.
Also, "fun" fact: the music in 1942 and GNG was done directly by Capcom staff, not Micronics, which is why it shows up in EVERY home port of 1942 until the Playstation/ & Saturn. Even the GBC has it. And GNG had even more direct involvement from Capcom, since they got credits for not just music, but "planning, design and music". Micronics were just the programmers.
Meaning the most infamous aspects of 2 of their most infamous ports (ie the music in 1942 and the gameplay alterations and music in GNG) weren't even their choice.
And speaking as a diehard SNK stan, Athena on NES isn't bad, it's just that Athena itself is jank af and kind of mid. So, if anything, it's an extremely accurate port, lol.
Ikari... yeah, I can't defend those. Like, I get the idea of why you manually/slowly turn to mimic the twin stick movement, but that doesn't make it any less miserable to play. Nor am I gonna say Super Pitfall is a good game, but I'm just sayin their output isn't as awful as people make it out.
I think some of the colors that are coming out of this thing are colors that I have never seen before.
The Color Out of Space itself is contained within this wretched machine
Nice of Vinny to surprise us with a corruption stream
10:55 stretched, blown out, and cheap. sounds familiar
I can't express how much I love these
Someone got me one of these from Temu for $5 last Christmas.
Please tell that someone to not support Temu

you should try plugging an aux directly from the tv to your computer's mic port. Listen to that audio source through obs or add it to your stereo mix and you should be able to hear the tv audio and put it on stream
18:30 bonus bitesize corruption stockpile stream
Bootleg Mortal Kombat accidentally predicts real Mortal Kombat game by featuring the Superman theme.
Cannot believe Vinnie's never played Super Dodge Ball. It's surprisingly a great entry in the Kunio-kun series. Always fun to see my man Kunio/Alex/Crash/whatever the fuck we're calling him these days.
Didn't they also call him Sam? Dude has a lot of names in America, but the Kunio-Kun series is awesome
The Alex stuff has been thrown out the window ever since they released Tokyo Rumble stateside, though his name in River City: Knights of Justice is an homage to it.
The Double Dragon & Kunio-Kun bundle even comes with all the Famicom games translated and localized as Kunio-kun.
However, in a capcom/SNK-esque situation, the location of the games is still River City in Japan after the American games (just in japanese) and the rereleases retcon some stuff to make the events line-up more with River City Girls and the more recent games (eg Misako is Kunio's only GF, among other things).
@@warbossgegguz679 What about River City Ransom: Underground? Wasn't Provie in one of the River City Girls games? In Japan, Alex and Ryan are still called Alex and Ryan I think. Could be wrong on that unless that's the kind of stuff that was retconned?
@@TheBigDynamo The issue is multiple different publishers locallized different Kunio-games, but the River City name was owned by Tradewest at the time (as was Double Dragon) so they couldn't release any of the sports spinoffs with the same title or characters. And the "meh" commercial performance of RCR stateside led to tradewest not localizing any of the other NES or SNES games either.
Eventually, when tradewest went under/merged with midway, Million (former technos staff) got the rights back leading to the games on the GBA, DS, and Wii being proper river city titles, before finally Arcsys bought up everything and started making new games w/ Wayforward and former Million staff. but before that happened, the kickstarter campaign for Underground already struck a deal to get the license, and released AFTER Tokyo Rumble in Japan, but BEFORE it in the west...
This series has a very convoluted history, and Yoshihisa Kishimoto (the creator of Double Dragon and Kunio) has openly shit on how poorly Technos managed their IPs which he had no control over, leading to all of this + crap like Double Dragon 3, Double Dragon 5, and the movie.
@@TheBigDynamo TL;DR - Arcsys threw all of the "westernization" out the window since it was so inconsistent between renegade, RCR, Crash and the boys, Super Dogeball & Soccer.
And most hardcore fans are fine with it when all but 2 of the mainline games weren't officially released stateside, so we all played with fan-patches. In fact, it was a fanpatch of Shin Nekketsu Kōha that led to the devs of Underground and Wayforward making River City Girls.
I assume they stuck with the westernized stuff for Underground because it was being funded and produced in America, but after Tokyo Rumble got localized and they started working directly under Arcsys, all the americanization got scrapped.
So basically, it took 35 years for this series and Double Dragon to get a properly established canon internationally.
And yeah, I'm kind of a nerd for this series, lol.
Oh neat, it has a built in corrupter
Some of those groaning buzzing noises when theres no other music playing sounds like where Airdorf got some of his sounds for FAITH lol
10:50 "It's stretched and blown out", taken out of context that could be taken the wrong way lol.

Vinny is able to make me laugh without fail on a daily basis. What an absolute savior to my mental health.
I didn't know NES MK4 had a cheatcode to play as Missingno! :P
Vinny, I found one in our recycling bin at work some weeks ago, looks like a gameboy color, still a 400 in 1 as well. However compared to yours it's a lot better and faithful.. still not perfect, but close enough for a 15/20 dollar pocket device. However a good time killer.
I like how the ""console"" is suffering from it's own existence and is just gawking in it's own pile of mangled code
I know stories like this are more uncomfortable than anything else for youtubers, but I know no one's going to see this so why not vent into the void? Or maybe even get some commiseration from passing eyes. Vinny is such a deeply comforting creator for me. I was groomed when I was 16, and during the 3 years I was with that awful person I was only really allowed to engage or interact with things and people that my ex explicitly approved of. Vinny was one of those things.
That person was an awful awful abuser. Most of the time I was punished for unreasonable things (like needing to pee during his livestreams) with hours or days of being ignored. I was attending an online school (before covid, it was an "alternative" school) and all of our mutual friends were much older than me and didn't really enjoy my company. So Vinny was my company. His voice is very soothing. His humor leans a bit more crass than mine, but he still makes me laugh. He is a musician who loves music and basically passively taught me about music. Listening to Vinny streams filled in this deep longing for friendship and family when I was so, so, painfully alone.
There was many, many times in my life, and especially during those three years, where Vinny drowned out my thoughts of ending myself.
Sometimes, when I listen to these VODs, all the feelings I had back then come flooding back like it happening all over again, and it breaks me. It completely breaks me. But, not most of the time. Most of the time, it feels like family. Most of the time, I feel less alone.
I have a happy life now. I don't need to fill in the gaps where love and family and friendship should be anymore. Sometimes, though, the bad comes back in waves at night. I left that era of my life with irreversible damage, a scar that still aches now and then, and when that happens, I come here. I come here and listen to Vinny. I come here and feel like I'm with family. I found you when I was 16, and for 8 years you have been "family".
Thank you, Vinny.
I am very aware of how hilarious it is to have a comment like this on a channel that is like. 20% gaming and 80% longform shit posting but it is what it is lmao
That's heavy. I'm glad you're in a better place now, fellow chat member.
I'm glad you're in a better place now. Thank you for sharing, even though it's uncomfortable. A lot of people go through their suffering and never get the chance to express it or don't allow themselves the chance. I'm sorry you had to go through what you did.
IT'S RETURNED
This wasn't a creepypasta this was an awkwardpasta
Vinny I got one of these new in the Walmart checkout line for 9 dollars.
Why are they allowed to sell these?
I have one of these you can add a resister in the video output section and fix that screen issue. my one has been heavily modded to make it more Usable. they were $15 on amazon when they first came out. the reason the Game play is sped up is because the CPU in the hand held is Faster than the Original CPU it's Emulating.
I wonder how long until we get consoles like this with games that have graphics, design, and code all done by ai generation. what new levels of slop will the plug and plague genre reach in our new technological wonderland?
This stream had me pressing my palms into my eyeballs, going "hahhhhhhhhhh" the entire time
My nieces each got one of these on Christmas XD
I actually bought one of these from Five Below. Pretty sure they ain't legally being sold. Even Walmart started carrying these.
i have one of those with no controller to play on a tv with SUP branding written on it super mario is the only one that is running faster like someone said it is the pal rom running in NTSC/60fps. fun fact when i got it the battery got swollen after a week had to order a new nokia battery, the screen viewing angle make it so when you tilt the device it get brighter and washed out and the horrible video output that worked once stopped working
Maybe if the audio was taken out before hitting the splitter with a DVI to HDMI adapter then added as an audio input to the stream, maybe that could get the audio to be less crusty.
Congrats on the world record
I guess no perfect pac-man has ever happened since it's a kill screen and not "an end"...
The fact people are trying to act like playing until kill-screens hasn't been a completive thing since *1980* just to rob a teen of accolades is extremely pathetic and depressing.
I dunno what's bizzare, the fact that I bought this specific plug-and-play a year ago, or the fact that I enjoyed playing it.
Super dodge ball is an awesome game.
Since Vinyard played Robocop, does anyone know if he's seen the minigame in Robocop 2 where you do a slide puzzle to not forget about your wife and kid?
