R.I.P Gary Moore, an Legend among Legends. My favorite guitarists of all time. His style of playing and especially his emotion was unmatched/unparalleled. I mean, just insane man. I wish I got a chance to see him while he was alive, unfortunately I found him years after his death. R.I.P Gary Moore, the best guitarist ever!
Buddy is a real gentleman! I met him a long time ago at the Bottom Line in NYC. What a great player and great guy . We sent a few mails back and forth as well. I saved them as a treasure , mails from Buddy and John Mayall ! A real treat for me ..
Gary still is the ultimate player even when he is a guest he never steps on toes & upstages the front man. He may not show the emotion he does when he fronts but he's right in the pocket & adds his dynamics to Buddys great lead work & tosses in his leads to compliment Buddy's work, now that's professionalism.
Was just gonna say the same thing. He toned it down and kinda took a step back so as not to overstage anyone. What a pro in every sense of the word. We lost a great one folks.RIP Gary,we love you brother.
@@jmangi6221 Well said my friend. In case you haven't heard Gary has a new CD coming out with unreleased tracks . In My Dreams is the only track posted on YT . Check it out if have not already. How cool is it to see these two total pros having fun & no toes stepped on.. Buddy is a fine player & singer & Gary needs no comment we all know what he could & did. As a player myself if you have some time please give my work a listen. Feel free to leave a comment on the posts but leave them on my posts not back here. Great song done to perfection by all the band. No one hogged the limelight and Buddy like a master just gently steered everyone along. Now that's a pro band.
I saw him at the Doheny Blues Festival with Mayall about 20 years ago. At first glance and listen I thought he was Walter Trout, but he is awesome in his own right. He's an excellent singer too. This is one of the best things I've ever heard Gary Moore do. My only nitpick is that the drummer is a bit overbearing, but he's strong. GREAT effort.
Mayall would get the award for having the most impressive list of guitarists he's worked with. Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, CoCo Montoya, Buddy Whittington, Walter Trout, Rick Vito and I'm sure many more
Buddy and Gary were friends. A lot of mutual respect for each other. Buddy is still playing in Texas and tours Europe once a year. I’ve seen him play up close in small club like this one. He’s a great player as well as Gary was. I like them both. There are more videos of Buddy & Gary playing together, just do a search.
It's amazing how much of an influence Albert King was on guitar players. I hear his licks so distinctly from Clapton to SRV. Not to mention these two. He's really under-recognised compared to BB King, etc.
Buddy is one of the all time greats, deserving way more recognition and $$$! If you watch John Mayall's birthday concert video it looks like Buddy gives Clapton a SERIOUS run for his money. Not saying there was any competition, but comparisons are inevitable.
#DanGromley I felt the same way when I watched it. I did have the chance and saw John Mayall, Buddy, Walter Trout, and Coco Montoya on stage together. WOW
@@alankillian4962 I believe you; that must have been a WOW show indeed. I've seen Coco Montoya and his band at Mexicali Blues NJ 2x and those were also WOW shows. Coco's band is a deep groove machine, and Coco sings and plays at such a highly artistic and passionate level. Exhilarating experiences for certain. I hope to hear Buddy in person.
Ya'll read too much into this. Gary wouldn't be there doin just what he's doin if he didn't want to be there. it's not like he was hard up for a gig. He's doin exactly what he wants to do. He standing where he wants to stand, and he can make any face he wants to make. It's nobody's business. Not mine or yours. Peace.
I was lucky enough to see Gary with his band Skid Row - must have been about 1970/71 as part of the Banbury Blues Attic shows. He was fantastic, although I have found a Skid Row record that isn't really that inspiring :-) Buddy and Gary toured together many years ago and were friends which, I assume, led to Gary guesting with Buddy's band here. Darby, on drums, is also an excellent musician.
Lucky to see Gary Moore with BB King some years ago, saw Walter Trout last year in my home town of Whitley Bay and last week saw John Mayall with Buddy Whittington, he is so good!
sat in with Buddy at a local bar what a nice guy , I never knew he was famous he was that humble and kind was our anniversary , I would of been scared shitless if I knew of who he was . I love his originals . I went looking to recruit him , now I know im out of his league lol
Hey Buddy, we are super excited that you will be the headliner at this year's 11th Annual Keller Crawfish Krawl. Predicting that this year will be the best one yet, even more so that you will be performing....Thanks again!

Buddy Whittington is one of the greatest blues guitar players ever! No tricks - just pure blues.
how good do you need to be to have Gary Moore as your rhythm player. RIP gary
Who`s playing lead while Buddy is singing then?
I wondered the same thing. I guess we now have our answer.
Buddy Whittington level good, nothing less
It just so happens that Gary Moore was a gust artist that night. I know I was Buddy’s driver. It was at the ropetackle art’s center in worthing.
Well Garys playing fills here and there and soloing.

I agree at 100%
Buddy Whitington is a great guitarist. No doubt. Gary Moore is from a different planet, he's absolutely incredible.
Buddy is a real gentleman! I met him a long time ago at the Bottom Line in NYC. What a great player and great guy . We sent a few mails back and forth as well. I saved them as a treasure , mails from Buddy and John Mayall ! A real treat for me ..
That Gary Moore was too good for his own good - Jesus H Christ, that's the best blues funk guitar solo I've ever seen in my life!!!

Love him! But it looks like he's gained wait since he played with 'thin' lizzy. lol lol. yes, RIP to a great guitar player.

Not sure how I went so long without being familiar with Buddy's extraordinary playing.

Just saw buddy this past weekend in Texas. The band was on point and his guitar playing and singing was out of this world.
Just found this. I'm a Fan. 5 guys just PLAYIN. ... NO BS,just talent.
Funkified Blues 😎 Gary Moore solo and playing rhythm amazing 😎♥️👍
Drummer found his groove... Great stage of musicians... appreciate it all.....
I love it! Gary Moore’s one of my biggest influence as a guitarist. So much to learn from him. Those kind of live jams are the best
Dear Gary, you will always be my inspiration and thank you for your music
Buddy is still kicking it out. There are also a couple of vids with Eric Clapton and Buddy, this guy is the real deal.

I saw BW with JM - it was a fantastic concert!
Do think Mayall has ever played with any good guitar players? Holy smoke!

My band opened for John Mayall in the 90s and Buddy was so nice…..I was just a regional musician and buddy had no ego, just kindness!!
Wow very nice version by Buddy and his band and with the incredible Gary Moore R.I.P
Miss you forever Gary,my friend.

Nice gem and jam. Two wonderful contrasting tones and styles of playing blues lead. Love it!
I remember hearing a lot about Buddy back in those days but not so much anymore. Hope he's still knockin em out somewhere.

Nice to see Gary Moore on this clip, he has really supported Buddys career and so it should be, Buddy is class and what a great band.

I remember John Hammond did this song on his first Atlanta album. it sounded really good

Gary and Buddy were friends. This wasn’t as unusual as it seems.
So good
I love this video. Thanks for sharing. I never got to see Gary Moore.... but I did see Buddy and John Mayall in Liverpool last week.

Buddy is sooo underrated both in his guitar playing and singing. I guess he's still playing with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers.
this is so damn good! love it.
@MrFinncole Check out Poppa Chubby in NY. He makes Whittington look small and he also rips hell out of the guitar.
Thanx for posting this...
