The hiccups are hilarious. Sorry that happened to you while filming, but it was also funny.
The thing you got from the bloodhound knight in the Evergaol (ever-jail…people sometimes mispronounce that) isn’t a dagger. It’s the Bloodhound’s Fang, a curved greatsword with one of the best weapon skills (aka ashes of war) in the game. It has great reach and causes blood loss. It scales primarily with Dex and Arcane, so it’s a great primary weapon to pair with the Reduvia dagger as a secondary. It’s one of the best melee weapons in the game and carried me through my first playthrough. It’s excellent. Of note: like the Reduvia, you need Somber Smithing Stones to upgrade it.
Next point: smithing stones. There are two types in the game…Smithing Stones, and Somber Smithing Stones. Unique and legendary weapons typically use somber stones (Reduvia, Bloodhounds Fang), while normal weapons (Longswords, Halberds, pretty much anything that standard enemies drop) use normal Smithing Stones. Somber Stone weapons can be upgraded to +10. Smithing Stone weapons can be upgraded to +25. There’s no real difference in damage at max level, there’s just more gradations to damage for standard weapons. Somber Stone weapons often come with a weapon skill you cannot change, whereas standard Smithing Stone weapons can be customized by applying an Ash of War that you’ve purchased or collected. These ashes of war are unique abilities and some of them are epic.
More on stones: for regular smithing stones, you’ll need to collect 12 of each. Each stone type (smithing stone 2, 5, 7, etc) will upgrade your weapon three times, and with each upgrade the number of stones you need goes up: two stones for the first upgrade, four for the second, and six for the third. So, upgrading to +1 takes two smithing stone 1s, +2 requires four smithing stone 1s, and +3 requires six smithing stone 1s. +4 requires two smithing stone 2s, +5 requires four smithing stone 2s, etc all the way up to +24. Somber stone weapons require a single stone per upgrade, and standard somber stones get you up to +9. In order to max your weapon you will need an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone for smithing stone weapons, or a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone for somber stone weapons. There are a finite number of these stones per playthrough…13 ancient dragon stones and 8 somber ancient dragon stones. So that limits the number of weapons you can max without going into NG+. The number of lesser stones is functionally limitless, because as you progress you’ll find items (smithing stone / somber smithing stone miner bell bearings) that you give to the twin maiden husks at the round table and will add smithing / somber smithing stones to the inventory for purchase. These are VERY important items to find. There’s also equivalent bell bearings that add the upgrade materials to upgrade your spirit summons….and many other bell bearings besides. They all do the same thing: add items to the twin maidens husks sale inventory.
Finally, learn how to use your Ash of War / weapons skill. It’s L2 on a controller. This will be a big upgrade to your combat capability. Also, don’t trade blows with enemies. You’re doing good at combat, but trading blows toe-to-toe will get you killed. Hit and move…hit and move. The game rewards a patient approach to most combat encounters.
I hope this essay (😂) helps. You’re getting so much better, and the vids are awesome.

@ItsLamo The dagger does less damage in large part because it hits faster, but also because the weapon causes blood loss buildup, and the two swords you’ve been using don’t (but the sword you got in the fight with Blair helping DOES). When blood loss procs, the target loses a set percentage of health. I don’t recall how much, but something like 10-13%. That’s called a status effect, and the Arcane stat increases how fast status effects proc. The drawback of the dagger is that you’ve got to be right in an enemy’s hostile little face to use it. That L2 ranged attack on that dagger is a thing of beauty, though. It’s a slash of blood that does physical damage and blood loss buildup. That specific attack scales with the Arcane stat. The physical attack scales with Dex. If you’re close enough to connect with both when you use the ash of war, you’ll score both damage types.

    • @Maitreya0208
      @Maitreya0208 7 месяцев назад

Correction on the Bloodhounds Fang. It scales with Dex and Strength, but Arcane increase the rate of blood loss buildup.

    • @EliteFetishist
      @EliteFetishist 7 месяцев назад +2

+1 on "don’t trade blows with enemies". If you receive an attack while attacking, the damage you'll take will be a critical hit. Yes, it hurts ^^
Wait your turn to attack... as simple as that. When there is only time for two hits, don't hit three times.
The same goes for healing yourself. Sometimes it's safier to wait your turn to do it

Regarding the merchants: you need that crating kit from Kalé, and you should always buy cookbooks. Cookbooks expand your crafting repertoire. But your #1 use for runes should be leveling stats.

here comes the best tip you have gotten so far..........all weapons come with a weapon art already installed..........common weapons can change their weapon art with ashes of war.......weapons like the reduvia and bloodhound fang cannot be changed but who would want to........both are great already.........with the weapon in your right hand press L2 on the controller to use the weapon art......some weapons like the bloodhound fang have a follow up attack by pressing R2.........you did great with the reduvia al level zero but there is a somber stone 1 near the north agheel lake sight of grace......go south just past the bridge and it is on the right side on a corpse........level up to level 2 and try that L2 special move it shreds...........

Good job beating Margit. I’m really enjoying your videos. You’ve already gotten some excellent advice from everyone else. Just keep your eye out for summoning signs outside the boss fight. You walked past the Rogier’s summoning sign soooo many times
outside the Margit fight, I was loosing my mind. 😂
There is another NPC that can be summoned for the next boss fight. I’ll just reiterate the tip from above. Look for the gold summoning signs outside boss arenas.
I’m not sure if this was mentioned in a previous comment, but each boss has an attack pattern and/or tell that a particular move is about to happen. It’s like a routine, just attack in the moments between each routine and try to be patient.
Congrats again on taking out Margit.
    And remember to have fun.

Hello, you're getting better, the fight with Margit was beautiful and frustrating at the same time. You have now been told that your controller has an L2 button. The big bosses eat the dogs for breakfast, try the jellyfish. Otherwise, it's nice to not be the only one who made the rookie mistakes. Keep it up, you're doing it.

I agree with everyone recommend out bloodhound fang weapon, especially using L2 then follow with R2.
I also recommend using a shield and try to block attacks then press R2 afterwards , it will stun enemies alot and keeps u protected.

"Ooh this is rough.. 😢 dang..."
*proceeds to chop the hanging bodies*
"Got your feet!" LMAOOOO ARE YOU INSANE 😭 YOURE WEIRD
    26:31
I was really scared for you here when you jumped down off the roof, but thats because Im still traumatized with what happened to me years ago when the game came out. I would always die when dropping off and I never understood why when it was the way to go, so when I make a new game and come here, Im always scared of dying but I think they fixed it a long, long time ago.
    32:00
Yeah I lost 700k souls once and I was so sad and angry that I uninstalled the game 😭 There's been numerous times Ive lost a lot of souls my 1st playthrough but it doesnt compare when I lost that 700k, and all because I miscalculated a jump while trying to get my souls back..
    33:58
Huh?? 🤨📸 say that again??? What do you mean it just came out?? 🤨
    45:29
"She's dead..... can I have this sword tho?"
Your reaction to a dead body is to wonder if you can take the sword that killed them 😭
    54:36
You're free to upgrade whatever you'd like as long as it feels ✨️you✨️Anyone who truly cares probably doesn't shower. Pretty sure the Claymore is good anyway.
    1:03:19
You didn't waste anything, trust me 🥺
    1:06:39
The audacity to say "who raised you??" AFTER YOU SLASHED AT HANGING CORPSES FEET
    1:13:38
The frustration is getting to you here 😂 yeah, you don't know what an enemy does until you face them and get to a certain % of their HP. Margit is so bad at 2nd phase for new players because on his 2nd phase, he can do a combo attack of 4-5, which can lead up to a maximum of 10-12. But its 50/50 if he continues to follow up or not, which makes him awful for new players, because truthfully you're not learning anything because his attacks are random. That's why he made me uninstall the game 3 times 😢
    1:19:14
    YOU GOT HIM 😳 YOOOOO
You beat him in less attempts than me, probably by like 35 less attempts 💀 I died a lot more... And you never ragequit the game either.. Nice job.
Yeah you were getting his attacks down like a pro, you learned much faster than me 🎉
    Extras:
About the lock-on: you're free to change the button for it to something more comfortable. I switched mine from R3 to L3, because whenever I tried to press R3, sometimes my targets would swap which would change my camera and it was awful. Especially when I wanted to de-lock, it'd swap opponents and turn me 180° and got me killed a lot, and it was annoying.
On 15:01, Pumpkin man fell to his knees and you did a cool stab on him. That's called a Critical Strike. When you knock an opponent down, you will hear an audio cue to let you know their poise is broken (another word for poise is "stance"). The enemy will be hunched or will fall to ground, and you have a small window to get close to them and strike them. Big enemies will have an orange glow typically on their heads or chest, while small enemies will not have a glow, you'll have to get close to them from the front or back, and do a light attack. You have to be fast or you'll miss it, you will do big damage just as you've done to Pumpkin head here! Great job!
Experiment with different weapons based on what feels really fluid to you, but if you'd like to know what in your inventory is good, refer to the following:
    - Reduvia
    - Bloodhound's Fang
    - Claymore
Weapons have "weapon arts," otherwise known as Ashes of War. You can test the Claymore (make sure it doesn't have a red X, wield it in both hands if it does), and then press... the skill button, whatever that is. "Lion's Claw" skill from the Claymore should make you jump and do a forward spin attack, and ends in a overhead strike. If you see that, you know which button is the weapon art button, so now you can experiment your other weapons and see what you like best 👌🏼 I have a feeling you'll pop off with Bloodhound's Fang.
🎉You beat Margit this episode though! You're free to explore what you're interested in. Go further into the castle or come back later after exploring other areas. I gave a POI list before that you're free to look into 💪🏽 You'll find upgrades, weapons, and different spirits if you're ever looking for those! I definitely believe in you in taking down the castle, however you will need more flasks.
At 4:24, you grabbed the map which means the area is unexplored. If you face South from the obelisk, there should be a rocky hill on the right if you go further down South, you'll find a Golden Tree to grab a Golden Seed. Hopefully that's enough for you to get 1 more flask.
    I won't give a POI list for Weeping Peninsula (South area of the map with the Castle), because;
    1. There isn't much
    2. It's a bit hard to give you direction
There is a Church though, so you can get more health per flask which is nice. Everything else is optional if you want more runes to level up. There isn't anything else in the area for you besides a cool Scythe, but the Scythe is way off your range of stats.
Good luck on your next exploration! 💪🏽🗿

Congratz on beating Margit! Love the bandit dual dagger style, I use it myself! Reduvia is amazing when it gets improved because its a 'special' weapon. You might consider adding the weapon art blood blade to the dagger to help you bleed out enemies faster plus have a really strong special attack! Though the Reduvia special left trigger attack is really good and has good range too. Shield enemies will be your nemesis though so you might want to get used to holding a dagger in two hands when you see a shield enemy.

congrats on beating Margit. It took me a while my first time too so don't worry. As Someone else already said, the Bloodhound's Fang is a great weapon. You just have to get your stats up to use it. You can use any weapon even if you don't have the stats but if you don't have the stats it will do considerably less damage and won't be worth using that way. Also, assuming you are using a controller (not sure what you are playing on). Try using the L2 button on an attack (make sure you are only using one weapon in your right hand or a shield or other weapon in the left with "NO SKILL"

In respect of ‘locking-on’ to attack (R3) clicking right stick will both lock-on and off ie if want to change lock-on when fighting several enemies, lock-off then change your view to look at the other enemy and alternatively lock-on…I trust that makes sense and helps…oh! loving the hiccups 😂

You can also switch the lock-on from enemy to enemy by just moving the right stick in the direction of the enemy you want to switch to. Doesn't work if you have to turn 180° though

I think she got used and comfortable using swords. You should guys recomend her one of those to be obtained in Liurnia, so she practices with the weapon arts. I don't think she should waste points spent in ARCANE for Reduvia at all.

This girl acts like a beginner and then tries to fist-only margit. I see you are a pro in disguise! xD
    Some more tips:
    - your positioning is extremely important. Being in a small room with a lot of rats is a death sentence even for a good player. Running out of the door was a good idea.
    - spirit ashes can only be summoned in boss fights and only one ash once per fight. Be aware that they make the game much easier BUT sometimes they make bosses unpredictable. You got a taste of that already with the wolves.
    - adding to the comment from last time about selling stuff. NEVER EVER sell trinas lilies. Collect as many as you can. Trust me you will thank me in about 80hrs of playtime.
    - try to bash your head against the wall more. Try bosses as long as it takes. This will make you A LOT better at the game.
    - don't be greedy for the last hit on the boss!
    - reduvia build = hell yeah.
    - before you move on fight some more bosses in limgrave. There are like 30 of them. None are as challenging as margit but you will need the runes they drop. being underleveled as a beginner is rough in later areas. Also go find some churches to upgrade your healing flask.
    anyway good job on margit!

Listen to this advice on the Trina’s Lillies 👆. They are used to craft items that put enemies to sleep, which is usually a waste, but will be incredibly useful when you meet a certain class of boss enemies down the road. There is only a certain number in the came and no more, so horde them. The growing army of commenters cheering you on will let you know when the time comes to use them. In the meantime, collect every cookbook you can.
