29:55 this is so surreal and sad. I used to catch movies with a friend at this theater and it was in fact, the last place I saw a movie what ended up being just immediately before Covid lockdown (like...a matter of DAYS). I remember being so taken with that fantastic mural up above that I snapped a few photos of it. It honestly seems like it was just yesterday I stood where this timestamp in the video is and needless to say, it looked WAY different at the time.
You are so right! Seeing these videos takes me back to a time where people actually went out and had fun! Our Generation didn't have the luxury of the internet. Kind of reminds when the old timers say, " I remember when a candy bar was just a buck!"
You all did a good job of showing this. Thank you. It is sad to see a once vibrant mall destroyed. I have lived in Dallas in the 1960's (I believe the Sears was a standalone in the 1960s), the 1970s, and 1990s...until now...to me, this is a metaphor for all of Dallas..a once great city...destroyed!
I'm old, lol. I remember this in the 80's and 90's, it was always busy. I used to work there as a teen, hung out there, ate at the food court , rode those escalators, the elevators... it's sad to see it like this.
@@Michael_Maci The statue itself? Yes, it is real, it is a rolling statue of botanist Julien Reverchon and was put in this mall after they used it for some events (like the parade of giants). Though obviously it can not move around on its own and it doesn't disire to trap and kill people.
I was under the impression that KanePixels filmed here before it was demolished. After seeing the state of it I'm realizing it was all rendered. What an insane amount of work... Thanks for the documentation.
WOW. I had NO idea parts of this mall were still standing. I had figured by now that the renovation was happening fully and the mall was leveled. This is wild! I am from the FW area and had never visited the mall in its heyday, but I drug my mom here in HS to explore, although it was still open at the time, just dying. (This is when all of the art vendors had moved in and that was pretty much the entirety of the mall). I remember subway was open at the time and was the only chain restaurant still remaining. AMC was still going of course, and Sears as well. We even went back another time I loved walking around so much! The last time that I visited was in early 2016-ish and nothing was walled off quite yet. Wish I had an exact time on that too, but it seems that they kept everything “open” fairly close to the end due to the fact that 99% of the occupied stores were art galleries for a few years and they were spread out pretty much throughout the entire mall. Truly an amazing video, thank you so much for doing this!
That brief revival of sorts with the independent art galleries was a cool era there, a good way to go out. There was a WW2 uniform museum there right til the end but it never seemed to be open.
I remember going to this mall in the 70s & 80s packed full of beautiful people, well dressed with big hair. It was an amazing experience back then with Sanger Harris, Bloomingdales and killer music stores. I saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show in that theater in the early 90s. I miss those days.
grew up going to this mall, playing in the kids play area and racing my cousins to see who could climb the tree the fastest lol. i also attended the taekwondo school that was in the mall for a few years before all the tenants were booted out. some of us would explore the mall right before class started, super fond memories.
Absolutely beautiful videography, I don't know why, this give me so so much nostalgia, not even because I've been to so many malls throughout my life, but this feels like something detached from reality, almost dreamlike.
20:40 this seems like a really popular method in Dallas architecture. A group of buddies and I visited the abandoned children's hospital in Dallas, and we saw a closet boiler type room with the rocky hill side just right there. Very neato!
That place was such an awesome time capsule. I definitely would've rescued a portion of that arcade rug, had it cleaned and turned it into a smaller area rug instead; it had such a cool vintage look.
Growing up in the city, I can't imagine what it's like to see a place that holds so much memories be so empty and run down like that. Its both amazing and tragic.
Man, this video especially hits home for me. Not just a childhood mall, but THE childhood mall for me coz up till the summer of 2021 we lived practically next door to this mall, near the intersection of Preston & Alpha. We had always kept going to the AMC to watch movies, at least once a month while the rest of the mall was being demolished, and then one day when we wanted to go watch another movie, we find out the entire mall had closed down, the AMC included. No more demolition happened after it was closed though, and it wasn't fullly demolished till sometime after we moved out. Last we went in the area, mall was gone, shame, kinda liked the view of the partially demolished mall, gave the area some kinda personality. Some time later, pretty sure it was also awhile before ya'll came and explored, couple of my friends and I decided to try and explore the mall, but everything was barely touched, all the walls were intact, very little trash, don't think the boat was there (I would've definitely remembered) and there were also security sensors and alarms everywhere. We got to the area there at 17:11, that Quesadilla/pizza place I remember specifically, though in much better condition than seen in the video, and went through some of the exposed backroom corridors as well, also going into a storage room that showcased that exposed earth as seen at 20:30, was very eerie. We set off one of the alarms (but wasn't like a full blown alarm, was just an occasional beep, so we didn't get spooked) We walked around the outside afterwards, going to the upper parking lot on the east side of the mall, there was a midtown car parked in that brick bay there (32.9299543, -96.8074143), I feel like it's the same car seen at 25:50, but for it to get from there to inside of the mall, doubt it. Pretty sure it's just a sister fleet car. Upon exploring the abandoned car, we set off a full blown alarm and got spooked, we all ran like a MF, luckily finding a (not noticable) gap in the fence and calmly walking along the road, not a minute later a security car came up to us and asked if we'd just been in there, we played dumb like "no, there's a fence right there, we couldn't have", a bit dumb of us (me in particular coz I had a bag and was wearing gloves), and as to why we were there, I just said, we were doing some exercise by going around the mall (I had a bunch of water bottles in the bag as proof), and he just went on his way, and we went home shortly after. I did record our adventure a little but, I moved those videos somewhere and it's been so long I doubt I have them anymore. But yeah, bit sad to see the mall go, I think they're gonna put something like the area northwest of Walnut Hill @ 75 there (32.8807227, -96.7727598), dunno. Hope they put some kinda historical thing there, even if it's just a tiny sign, remembering the mall, but probably not.
Worked at the AMC back in HS I would constantly wander around the mall once everything started closing down. The underground tunnels were creepy back then I could only imagine now that it’s completely abandoned.
I don’t know if you’ll get this notification, but I urge you to search up “The Rolling Giant” by Kane Pixels. He remade this entire mall in 3D and offered a terrifying liminal story if you like horror or “backrooms” horror. I could only imagine it in your perspective. Check it out.
@@xjackdareaperxHey zoomer. You don't know underground tunnels exist in malls? Most of them lead to the underground parking lots. Maybe try going outside instead of constantly being obsessed with stuff in the internet.
bro even drops some backrooms references 6:166:49. there are no coincidences. sections are partially buried underground in the same way too 20:27. this is clearly another timeline, glad you guys made it out!
So glad I found this channel. I lived in DFW for most of my Youth and the 1983-1995 years at most of these malls was my freedom and sanctuary. Now looking back I have found memories. just cant believe how the world changes so fast. you guys keep it going. Love this Stuff.
RUclips randomly suggested a video from a channel called zeroxlulu, where he explored this mall just after they announced they were going to demolish it, but the plan then was for the AMC to stay open. His walk through was from five or six years ago when everything was almost completely intact. Crazy to watch this one right afterward and see how drastically different it is now
This hits home! I use to work in Valley View Mall back in 2007 (Steve & Berrys) for my Summer Job when I was in High School. I remember I would frequent every now & again to see that each time less people would be there. The last time I visited was back in 2019 only to see that the AMC was the last thing open? Broke my heart! Everything was walled off & I wanted to walk around the Mall for the last time SO BAD! There was no life there anymore? I remember Valley View Mall was the go to spot in the 2000s. Just Wow!
Man, growing up I remember valley view and how they tried to revive it by placing a bunch of artists there, then some hispanic bazaar and some odd stores moved in, until finally only AMC was left. By the time they actually make anything there I'll be 30 years old. What Beck is doing by letting the mall space sit and rot is criminal.

I practically lived here in the 90s. This breaks my heart. Some of my best memories were at that mall. My fave place to eat was the A&W place. Those little hit dogs were the bomb! Thanks for the video🖤
I loved that theater I kept going through covid and rhe very end. The security guard would say they had paranormal activity in theater number 7. They would see and hear a lady and the seats would move sometimes. Yall should check it out, I really hoped it stayed open.
I used to go every monday and i was the only one there spend 5 hours watching movies 😢 never hear anything weird but it was kind of scary place. when was their last dy open?
Anyone who has memories of this mall may want to watch. "The Rolling Giant (the oldest view part 3)". I don't know if you would like or hate it but it was used a reference to create a horror video that is pretty amazing. The recreation of the mall is very spot on but as someone who only is learning about the mall I could only tell by videos. I wonder what it would be like to actually have memories of the location when I watched it.
10:00 Yes there was an arcade: lower level, right across from Spencer’s Gifts called ALADDIN’S CASTLE. It was legendary. Come on, man, how do you not remember that?!
I just wanna say thanks for making this video! Back around 2016 when I lived pretty close to this mall, I would sometimes go to this movie theater, and I was so intrigued by the parts of the mall abandoned and barricaded off.. I knew I didn’t have it in me to sneak back there and explore myself so I was hoping that one day someone would make a video doing it.
2:44. That elevator I would have loved to film. It is an ESCO elevator that was installed in 1983 but then got turned off in 2017 when they were planning on demolishing the mall. Demolition process was canceled for quite a few years but finally as of 2023 this entire mall got demolished. AMC was the only place open in the mall for a really long time then finally it closed in 2022.
Man, I miss that place. Spent the late 90s and early 2000s living in some sketchy apartments nearby, so us kids would walk over and spend every bit of free time there. We'd muster the courage to go into Hot Topic, giggle at the items in the back section at Spencer's, and sometimes we would scrounge together enough money to buy a pack of Pokemon cards from Game Chest. When I got older, I attended a few midnight releases of the Harry Potter books at Borders. A friend introduced me to my ex-wife there as teenagers and we had our first kiss at that mall. Valley View Mall and Loews Keystone Park were the two staples of my childhood that I would love to go back in time for a weekend and just savor them both.
Crazy! I live about a mile from the (now) parking lot where this mall used to stand. When I was a little kid, my mom worked there and when I was a teen, my dad lived in the apartments right across 635 from the mall. The memory that stands out the most about this place was how you could feel the upper floor shake under your feet in some areas. lol. It's a shame I never thought to explore the place while it was abandoned.
Pretty sure RUclips recommended me this video because of KanePixels video 26:47 the music playing wasn't something I was expecting at all just like on KanePixels video and also the guy with the Lightsaber was ready to fight anything xD
I think I’ve been to Valley View all of one time. When I was really young, Richardson Square Mall was my normal destination due to my grandparents living really close to it. Then it was Firewheel during my teen years.
I miss valley view mall so much! 😢 it was my childhood mall! I remember that store you said it was huge and it blue, that was CHAMPS! Damn i remember going there alot and also walking around mall. I miss it so much! Thank you for putting this video! Brings back memories :( u r MVP!!!
I cannot express with words how sad this makes me. I was in high school in the early 80s. College in the mid 80s-90s. A gamer since the earliest of days. And Valley View Mall and the Galleria (practically next door) had the two Game Shops that catered to my needs - with Pen and Paper Books from Traveller (the sci-fi "brother" of Dungeons and Dragons) to Champions to lore books for things I loved to read but never got to play. Like Shadowrun. I'd make a weekly or monthly (depending on funds and time access) pilgrimage to Valley View all through the late 80s through the early 2000s. And yes - I also went to the theater and the food court. There were other places and shops there to visit. That Pizza Place you discovered in the walled off Food Court? Almost certainly was the old Sbarros that I ate at almost every time I passed through. I haven't lived in Dallas for about 10 years now. I'm in another state. And I've lost track of some of the old locales I used to haunt. Like this one. And I'm almost an old man now. But the memories of my youth are still bright. Thanks for the walk-through. It's sad but I kinda feel a bit of closure. I guess it's completely gone and torn down now. But at least there's some record of it's existence. Even if in this sorry state. Inflation, online shopping. I guess the shopping malls of the 80s and 90s have had their time and now are going the way of the old drive-in theaters.
Videos like this remind me of the old Dixie Square Mall in Eastern Illinois. It was used in the Blues Brothers, classic cop chase scene! It sat abandoned for years before demolition.
Many years ago, the Valley View Mall is where I had my first Cinnabon cinnamon roll. It was during the Christmas season, so the mall was all decked out with decorations throughout. Very sad to see the condition it's in now. Thankyou for sharing and the time and effort you guys put into this...just happened on your channel. ~ Blessings, Gypsy
The next one you will be going to is the Galleria. Just went in that place for the 1st time in many years too. WOW has it changed. Used to be the "high class" mall. Man, is it a dump now. Just full of fly by night shops.
Very surreal. I'm 56 years old, so I watched this open - become extremely popular. I never dreamed I would see it this way. Makes me feel 200 years old or in some apocalypse. Thanks for posting, glad you didnt get jumped, very scary.
In college 1976-77 I was dating a guy from Richardson. We would go to see his parents during the holidays & went several times to shop at Valley View. It was so big & beautiful, it really hurts to see it in this condition now!!
Came to the video after watching a Kane Pixels video on the rolling giant that used to reside here. Most certainly has been destroyed himself by hooligans... but in general I am surprised that at least a year ago it was still standing. Most malls around where I live never last to the point it gets this bad where its so open and abandoned and half done destruction wise that you get looters, scrappers, gangsters, and the like. But I also heard the giants main holder was once in the main auditorium like area. While the giant himself was within the part where they began the destruction of the mall before abandoning it entirely.
Thanks for the video. We used to get autographs from the Dallas Cowboys there at Valley View. That was in the 1970's. That place brings back great memories. Sad to see it go.
I remember my last time going up there around 2013-2014 the mall almost looked like a Bazzar. They had tons of small little stores resembling a Bazzar, that gym had soccer fields around it if I remember correctly. Cool video! lots of memories.
Honestly, the fact that this mall actually exists, and the fact that it was used in kane pixels' latest video (great and creepy video btw) just makes makes it even scarier... This whole video (kane's) could be something you'd see in your dreams/nightmare, or something real !
My dad was the music minister of our church and for many years they would bring the choir and full orchestra to Valley View and put on a Christmas concert on the second level. I don't remember which big name store they were in front of but you could hear it everywhere in the mall.
I hadn't been there in a long time. I didn't know it closed. But, in my opinion it was one of the best malls in the metroplex. Although I hadn't been there in a long time I will say I will miss it being there.
I can definitely see why Kane Pixels chose this place. I wonder if this particular video helped to inspire him😂 it's so cool. Wow and especially the part at 20:28..

You're not old cause I remember it too lol
Well I'm really old...I remember it in 76' when TownEast mall was new!!!! ValleyView was aging then.
Be careful of The Rolling Giant though
Is it real??
It's an Oldest View reference, @@Michael_Maci
It was far more horrifying in the oldest view …
@@Michael_Maciyes it is actually real and it is in that mall
Crazy channel, didn't know there was THAT many abandoned places in Dallas
4:00 Who tf graffitied Bill Cipher onto the wall there? Lmao.
Lol I saw it too!
It's pretty cool how Kane Pixels made that CGI mall and they went ahead and built one in real life. He has some crazy dedicated fans!
grew up going to this mall, playing in the kids play area and racing my cousins to see who could climb the tree the fastest lol. i also attended the taekwondo school that was in the mall for a few years before all the tenants were booted out. some of us would explore the mall right before class started, super fond memories.
Absolutely beautiful videography, I don't know why, this give me so so much nostalgia, not even because I've been to so many malls throughout my life, but this feels like something detached from reality, almost dreamlike.
Abandoned Malls are def my thing and this one being no exception and great lighting!
Yeah the lighting was so good man!

We set off one of the alarms (but wasn't like a full blown alarm, was just an occasional beep, so we didn't get spooked)
We walked around the outside afterwards, going to the upper parking lot on the east side of the mall, there was a midtown car parked in that brick bay there (32.9299543, -96.8074143), I feel like it's the same car seen at 25:50, but for it to get from there to inside of the mall, doubt it.
Wtf bruh
Worked at the AMC back in HS I would constantly wander around the mall once everything started closing down. The underground tunnels were creepy back then I could only imagine now that it’s completely abandoned.
WHAT
I don’t know if you’ll get this notification, but I urge you to search up “The Rolling Giant” by Kane Pixels.
@@camblongkaras782 there was absolutely no need to go at them like that goddamn 💀💀
cant even say 'what' these days smh.
I love the idea that a guy was practicing with his lightsaber in an abandoned mall while strapped
Gonna be real, anyone walking around an abandoned mall should be strapped.
Great explore Adrian 👊🏻
Thanks bro I appreciate it

I worked at the Spencer Gifts at this mall in the 90s
So glad I found this channel. I lived in DFW for most of my Youth and the 1983-1995 years at most of these malls was my freedom and sanctuary. Now looking back I have found memories. just cant believe how the world changes so fast. you guys keep it going. Love this Stuff.
I was there around that time, it was always fun spending a Saturday going mall hopping.
Malls in the 90s were the best. Everyone went there to have fun, date, eat, watch movie.
Holy cow, this was my childhood mall too, crazy!
RUclips randomly suggested a video from a channel called zeroxlulu, where he explored this mall just after they announced they were going to demolish it, but the plan then was for the AMC to stay open. His walk through was from five or six years ago when everything was almost completely intact. Crazy to watch this one right afterward and see how drastically different it is now
The exact same happened to me
same
This hits home! Just Wow!
Is this still abandoned?
@@GamingSnippet-shorts it is unfortunately. I went & saw for myself a few months ago…
So wild seeing this. Was one of my mall options back in mid 90s to early 2000s. Wow. RIP Valley View
A true icon of dallas retail history gone
02:19 I think that actually used to be a Thirsty’s. They still have one in the Galleria mall
You’re absolutely right, I just couldn’t remember the name off the top of my head and all I saw was bluebell, thanks for reminding me!

I don’t like the elevator shaft
I remember this mall. I had a great time here in 2015.
The AMC was only closed for 2 years before this was shot!
Gorgeous old location. Never been to this mall, but it's got that odd 80s vibe that I know well
Watch out for the rolling giant! 😜
I used to Love going to this mall during Christmas. It had a very nice food court. I visited that AMC a few years ago before the Covid shutdown.
Pretty sure RUclips recommended me this video because of KanePixels video
26:47 the music playing wasn't something I was expecting at all just like on KanePixels video and also the guy with the Lightsaber was ready to fight anything xD
What a wild and oddly wondrous experience. I wish I could explore an abandoned mall!
I think I’ve been to Valley View all of one time. When I was really young, Richardson Square Mall was my normal destination due to my grandparents living really close to it. Then it was Firewheel during my teen years.
I remember Firewheel! It was brand new when I lived there in Richardson in 2005.
Kane Pixels did this mall justice
20:25 inspiration for Oldest View?
22:00 reminds me of that scene where Wyatt looks down from the second floor and sees the gaping hole in the wall. Amazing
Glad you enjoyed it!
I liked going to that mall. Also, that AMC seemed to be cheaper than other locations, which was a plus.

The rolling giant: imma get yall bi#chis
In college 1976-77 I was dating a guy from Richardson. We would go to see his parents during the holidays & went several times to shop at Valley View. It was so big & beautiful, it really hurts to see it in this condition now!!
Just here to say Kane Pixels is the greatest visual artist of our time. Prove me wrong.
The rolling giant ☠️☠️☠️☠️
Thanks for the video. We used to get autographs from the Dallas Cowboys there at Valley View. That was in the 1970's. That place brings back great memories. Sad to see it go.
Glad you didn't encounter that rolling giant, but some of the stuff you did encounter was bizarre!
its amazing that kane pixels looked at this and completely recreated it
How did he do it?
The AMC sign is almost untouched, incredible.
I can definitely see why Kane Pixels chose this place. I wonder if this particular video helped to inspire him😂 it's so cool. Wow and especially the part at 20:28..
The guy filming this replied to another comment on this video confirming this very thing. Said Kane watched this over and over to get it right in Blender. Pretty cool
