no one was holding the phone, when he goes back to the car he lifts it off the door

Alex Geldmacher haha you know how we work!
Only way you can ensure the customer a safe grate positioning is to be paid for it lol
Capitalism at work my friend. It's not perfect but it's better than the alternative.
Alex Geldmacher I mean its their fault for asking a plumber to lift a grate, do it yourself.
Alex Geldmacher, just wait to see what he charges next year to unblock the pipe from all the bark chips. Guaranteed repeat business there

He deserves every single cent he charges
That would be 300 Dollars Please..

Good thing there was a plumber available to do that. I can't think of anyone else who could have walked into a puddle and picked something up. Solid work.

It's like a post 10 video, but without 15 minutes of him being splashed by cars and kicking the drain.
And without the rake, not quite as satisfying in the same way as Post10's videos, but still satisfying in seeing the flood go away
he shows multiple drains or doing something thats takes that amounts of time. or just show whole thing draining and where the water comes out etc
Agreed. When he walked in with the screw driver I was thinking 'use the rake!'.

it was a large blockaded grate which resulted in many thousands of gallons of water being pooled which is satisfying to watch be resolved. anything can sound boring and mundane if you say it a certain way. lighten up

That’ll be $500 for the 2 minutes.
fire fox you need a plumber skill of 35 to do this
You don’t, but hey I’m sure the plumber doesn’t care he’s getting paid by some idiot who didn’t want to do it themselves.
And he didn't even finish the job! Left the grate just lying there! 😂
1:01 "Well...that was an easy $300."
Man imagine getting called for a job so easy. This is why sometimes I pay attention to the workers I hire, to learn a thing or two or find out if it's something I'm capable of doing myself.
and to make sure you're not getting ripped off!
@@unclefreddieDied If they pay other people to do the most simple stuff like this, you could say they're ripping themselves off!
Someone called a plumber for this?
Good video. I see this and say they made a good choice. Looks like they were very close to the building flooding. If so the money spent calling him was nothing compared to the potential damage by flooding. Just my $.02.
Must be expensive for child care in Oz then, I would think a Co. with 1000 locations would have some sort of maintenance dept.
You know it! Americans are too lazy to cut their own grass and wash their own car! That's why they're fat!

That's the exact opposite of what's being said. A company with a maintenance department would, in fact, be doing it themselves..... xD

Next up he'll be clearing the pipe of that debris the grate was stopping.
it'll be fine
The grate is only there to make sure nobody falls into the pit, and for occasional service.
And he'll get to charge someone else $300/hour to clear the same blockage 300 feet away.
@@TK-zf7sx Sounds like a great business model.
all these non pipe fitters acting like the grate doesn't matter. That debris is going to settle somewhere down the pipe line, cause a minor dam and the moisture will be permanant . This is where your leak will begin. And then one day you'll be walking down the road, across the grass, or any sink hole, etc... and notice there's a massive wet spot in the grass or part of the road/concrete in sunken in. Yes, that's because there's a leak in the pipe under the ground. The debris are meant to settle in cross sections and be collected at grates, but when you flood the pipe with a surge of water it will flush right through those sections and remain in the line. The guy in this Video is the typical lazy worker who causes more harm than good, but probably too ignorant to realize it. All this idiot needed was a shovel...
This was extremely satisfying to watch.
Remember. Anyone can turn screw and move a pipe. It's knowing which screw to turn and which pipe to move that is valuable.

Why are there so many negative comments? This guy was just doing his job! Whether you think it looks easy or not, he was probably told to do it, so he did it, and because he probably thought a lot of people would get a kick out of the rush of blocked water getting unblocked, he made a video and posted it on the internet. I, for one, found this video very satisfying! You go, man!
Alskasaur CVD950
Sure, it was kinda cool looking but isn't that grate on there got a reason! Like to keep all that CRAP out of the system!! Now someone else has got to clear it out further done the line!!!!!
Keith Good and they’ll get paid for it
Cause he did it wrong
Keith Good & Mighty Shady I don't think he did it wrong though! I'm pretty sure the grate is there simply so that there isn't a giant hole in the ground that people or animals could fall into. If it wasn't made to let all that stuff run down into it, the hole (and the bars of the grate itself) would be much much smaller!
Usually leaves and stuff that might get stuck for a moment would quickly un-stick and slip right through the bars, but during large rainfalls or floods those same leaves stick for a moment but then before they can come loose more leaves and the pressure of the water acts as a sort of vacuum seal and the leaves are caught there. And because so much stuff collects during large rainfalls/floods those kind of grates quickly become blocked.
So afterwards there are workers who have to go around and find those flooded areas and unblock the grate! And that's exactly what this guy did. You can tell by the painted lines on the ground that those are parking spaces and it looks to be a very urban area, so there were probably a bunch of people that couldn't park in their spaces because of the blocked water, and therefor couldn't go home!
Plus, if you think about it, I highly doubt someone would film themselves doing their job *wrong* and upload it to the internet, unless they wanted to lose their job! That just seems silly to me!
I kept feeling like he was going to slip and fall into the hole
Same

That was a lot of water 💧 like draining a river infront of your house! Homeowner peeping through the window was like dam I could of done that! Lol 😆
I could be entirely wrong, but I'm pretty sure the grate's meant to keep large debris from going to the drainage system and clogging it.......

Most satisfying part of being a plumber BY FAR
The drain at the botton of my street gets clogged whenever it storms. There's a creek across the road and it fills up and overflows debris onto the drain. The road will be covered in a few inches of water and it's always fun watching them clear off the drain and all the water sucks away in seconds

Plummers actually make very good money, especially inner city. If you're about to graduate high school and want to make 60-100k a year (going rate in my city depending on experience) without going 50-100k in debt/living off Ramen for 4-6 years, look into trade school. Electricians and HVAC-R technicians make roughly the same. After putting in time to the trade you can get an AA degree by taking 2 classes a week and get your construction management degree which can earn you 125k (again, in my city) a year without having to do hardly any manual labor, most companies will pay for your education, too!
