Very heartbreaking and frustrating when they say they don’t think it was due to humans to me it’s obvious we continually use sonar in the oceans, which is very painful to the whales they would rather beach themselves, then suffer through that noise. Rest in peace whale. ❤️🩹
Kinda strange to listen to the surfer explaining, "I lived here for seven years".. smiling. I guess it's concerning to me, but a cause for surfers to smile? Creepy..
Why would they push it back into the sea if it's dead? Won't the whale just wash right back up onto the beach? Also get a reporter that can pronounce words correctly x
All the whale beaching, single or pods, happen in the dark night, globally. Whales are the best navigators who use echo to detect sea floor and preys, unless when it's in a panic mode then lost orientation. The best explanation is from predators chasing the whales as prey. Orca only hunt in daylight on ocean surface where they see preys. That leaves the night predators which are very big even a 52 ft whale is scared. The 20 ft long 6=gill shark rise up to hunt on surface during the night from 6000-8000 ft depth. There could be much bigger deep bottom sharks which rise up to hunt 52-ft whale on the surface, drove whales to the beach, especially near sharp drop 10,000 ft deep bottom. 🤔🤨😉😎
Really? Hundreds of people showed up and it took hours for the town to drag its corpse back to the ocean. No necropsy to find cause of death of a juvenile female finback whale. Hope those gawckers enjoy the beach. Smh.
I found a little one, 20 feet or so in a cove full of logs a little south of Crescent city. I could smell it over three miles away. The last bit dropping down the cliffs to the ocean was about the worst thing ever to get past it.
Lets hope they don't have a repeat of what they did in Oregon years ago...some genius came up with the idea of blowing up the dead beached whale with dynamite. You can find the video online, to see what was the result.
That is a yearly occurrence during the winter . Nothing new. Word of advice, do not swim in ocean water near near Imperial Beach or Coronado or you may bump into a few floaters.

read a book: Cetacean stranding, more commonly referred to as beaching, refers to the phenomenon of dolphins and whales stranding themselves on beaches. There are around 2,000 strandings each year worldwide, with most resulting in the death of the animal. Beachings are rare enough that they are not a significant threat to any species. The beaching of a single, live animal is usually the result of sickness or injury. Bad weather, old age, navigation errors, and hunting too close to shore also contribute to beachings.

Expect more beached whales in the near future due to the electric screeching and electromagnetic pulses produced by tectonic plate activity which is literally a death sentence for whales and porpoises. They beach themselves to escape the torture caused by these extremely high pitched frequencies. The tectonic platelets that make up the Pacific tectonic plate are currently undergoing compressive stress which causes subduction and the aforementioned phenomenon.
