I like how this game doesn’t actually start off bright and cheery because you start in Whitespace with a series of melancholy messages that tip you off something is off about Omori immediately. Especially because right after the game pretends that the Whitespace intro never happened and the whole scene shifts tone as soon as you leave it.
There any comments, lets fix this!
But then you get the skill stab, you go back to the whitespace. Confused you wander around, checking the computer, check the book, try your luck with the door nothing. Then you remember stab, bringing back the dark vibe

OMG AT 25:25 NOTICE HOW MARI AND HERO EVEN HAVE MATCHING CHRISTMAS SWEATERS I- Heart been broken so many times 😔✊
I don't know what to believe 😔✊
Rip :'(
Hero was probably devestated when Mari died, he probably felt alot of guilt and despair for the fact that not only would Mari leave him in such away but he also probably felt like he failed to save her. When Sunny tells the truth i can only imagine Heros conflicting emotions. He Must be relieved that Mari wouldn't have left him and that she was indeed happy to be with him and her life in general. But at the same time Hero is gonna be haunted by the fact that she might have been the love of his life forever if the incident didn't happen. Which just makes it even sadder, also its hinted in the game that Hero was extremely broken by Maris death and that he completely fell apart (i heard somone else talking about this but i didn't see it myself), but due to him having a supportive family and a brother who cared for him he bounced back, even if he is still Depressed.
The final boss fight in a nutshell: It's okay if your depression/Omori gets the best of you and beats you down. The important thing is that you don't give up. There are people out there that care about you.
So, please. Keep pressing Continue.
Indeed but also somthing else, you see the violin not only represents the truth of what happend it also represents the hope everyone has placed in him, in a way it was also representing the hope and trust and expectations Mari had put on him before the recital, when he smashed up the violin he literaly smashed the hopes and dreams people had placed upon him becaus he didn't think he would be able to make it. The violin also represents acceptance of the truth and what happend. When he picks up the Violin and uses it against Omori he confronts Omori with the guilt of what has happend, he strikes him with the truth that he must accept. And most of all he chooses to show Omori that he believes that his friends faith in him is not gone.
I can't my mom told me to go to bed.
Well, you see...
"If the world chosses to become my enemy... I will fight like I always have!"
The saddest thing about Omori's boss fight is that he's literally Sunny's subconscious. All the hurtful and depressing things Omori says to Sunny is what Sunny is saying to himself, trying to convince himself he's guilty and his friends will never forgive him while trying to repress these thoughts. It shows you how broken Sunny is at this point, but he still manages to overcome his trauma.
The fight is about him remembering that they would want him to forgive himself.
So the boss fight is all of his guilt compressed into a body.

I cant keep on thinking about how Mari died and how it affected everyone. the old sweet Aubrey turning into a rude bully, taking out her anger on everyone, how Kel pretended to be fine. Hero, going into a deep depression and not having a care for much anymore. Basil, although looking like nothing happened at the start, actually had ben seemingly gone mad, encouraging Sunny not to leave him, not again. and Sunny, who locked away his emotions and himself away for 4 years. 4 YEARS. to think from those memories how HAPPY they were. Basil’s birthday, the treehouse, and so much more.. I hate the factor that Mari died and i hate that it affected these amazing characters like that. no, not cause it was bad lore, but cause nobody, not even fictional characters should go through such mental pain like that.

*remembers Danganronpa V3*
I think we should've taken the hint of Basil's obsession over plants and his photo album
It’s honestly hard to tell whether the fight is metaphorical or real.
I’d like to believe it’s metaphorical since it only seems to affect Sunny and Basil. The others have to have their own issues. Plus it makes sense why Sunny loses an eye and why Basil just looks beaten up. Basil attacked and Sunny defended himself with what he had.
At the same time, it’s in a fictional world so it’s hard to say what the rules are.
the first fight is like a mix. It happened in real life, but their visions were distorted by the guilt and trauma, manifested as their respective Somethings. The first attacks could be a combination of punches and hurtful words before it escalated to Basil injuring Sunny's eye
@@granmastersword Yeah, i think the battle represents how Sunny is trying to keep Basil from killing himself with the sheers. It makes sense becaus as Sunny gets stabbed in the eye Basil loses hold of the sheers and at that point the others probably notice whats up, Sunny faints from the pain and Basil is knocked unconcious. But thats on the physical side.
I think other than that Basil has to confront the fact that Sunny did indeed cause the incident. Not only does Basil not want to be alone anymore he has also lost one of the only people in his own isolated world just to be reminded of what happend as Sunny comes back. I mean the first time we see basil seeing the Drakness in the bathroom he reacts to the fact that he just heard that Sunny is gonna move away just as he had hope of regaining his friendships. And he describes seeing the thing. In reality Basils shadow is the embodiment of his guilt but also that he like Sunny has created somthing imaginary to stave off the guilt. But instead of retracting into a fantasy world, he isolated himself in the real world and blaming some supernatural force for what Sunny did. In a way he can't imagine Sunny would do it by accident. I think thats what the fight represents. Basil wants to end it as Sunny does in the bad ending, but Sunny wants him to see the truth for what it is.

When I played this for the first time, Omori dropping the knife, Sunny crying for probably the first time in a long time, and him bowing after defeating Omori really REALLY got to me.
This game is probably one of my favorites for how much it relates to me.
I almost cried after certain parts of the game... but only after the ending was when I truly cried...
I was sobbing and bawling my eyes out the entire time 👍 made a real mess, too
i never cry while playing games but the ending of omori had me SOBBING AND IT STILL GETS ME
So, I'm just revisiting this scene again, and I'm trying to determine the sound effects at this particular part: 6:21
The first thud sounds like someone crumpling to the floor, probably Sunny due to his injury. Then there's two thuds that sound different from the crumpling one, but identical to each other.
That could be a few things-
One: it could be banging on Basil's bedroom door- the rest of the gang forcing their way in and intervening,
Two: If it wasn't that, it'd have to be Basil, since Sunny would be unconscious. I don't think he stabbed himself, because then he wouldn't just be banged up but otherwise okay in the hospital. Maybe he snapped out of his psychotic break upon seeing Sunny's condition, and knocked himself out by banging his own head as some sort of penance. That's what would drag them both into that dream outside of Sunny's house (if that was indeed the real Basil).
*Despite everything, it's still you.*

As someone who places Earthbound only slightly below OMORI in my list of favorite games, I’ve always loved supernatural / psychic elements in stories about kids going through trauma, and I feel like OMORI does have some psychic shit going on and it’s not entirely metaphor.
Basil and Sunny’s battle is really weird. You could just chalk it up to a psychotic break, but if Something isn’t real, a lot of things don’t add up.
There isn’t anything stopping Sunny from leaving the room other than maybe Basil, but even Basil backs away. Also, Basil’s something suddenly manifests around him, and Sunny can visibly see it, and THEN Basil panics and acknowledges its existence (“Ah! There it is now!”). So if that’s not just a storytelling device, Sunny can actually see “Something Eating You”, and Basil can see “Something Behind You” as he calls it out before you even see it on the occasions you are alone together.
And of course, when Basil chants that everything is going to be okay, Sunny backs away, only to be physically pulled closer by both his own Something and Basil’s Something WORKING TOGETHER.
So… Something seems to actually be real if you analyze what the game gives you. Which is a huge mindfuck, and really freaky to consider, because it’s also directly implied that the Somethings are formed from the subconsciouses of Sunny and Basil.
…Which in turn implies that there’s some sort of psychic manifestation going on, where things that Sunny imagines actually DO exist, but others can’t see it. It’s something freaky to consider, as it has this horrible implication that there is psychic fuckery happening that might go deeper than just “go to therapy”.
Bonus: When Sunny fights the poster in Hobbeez, something drops from behind it upon winning. It might seem like a gag, but I actually think there’s psychic shit happening and Sunny can manifest stuff.
Maybe OMORI actually takes place in the same universe as Earthbound, and everything that happened takes place long after Ness defeated Giygas? That’s my headcanon at least, because some sort of actual psychic horror really gives the lore a new flavor of mystery and ambiguity. What’s actually real, and what’s just a figment or construct of Sunny’s mind? It’s impossible to tell, which makes both Sunny and Basil’s predicaments that much more dreadful and soul-crushing.
You are correct. Some of Sunny's ideas are real. Mari's ghost, and Kel's comment on hearing someone playing the piano are the proof.
But in that case, I feel a bit bad ending Omori and the "Something(s)". In a way, we're their parents, and we're fighting to finish them off, even though it's our fault they're beings of punishment and denial.
Ohhhhhhh ! That's why in "Chaos;Child" he didn't let her go to jail. Still, it was wrong to take her powers away.
I needed to read this, because it makes me feel less guilty about including "Omori" in a fanfic that involves super powered stuff, so thank you.
Still, gotta find a way to NOT imply ressurection, because I hate when the trope of the power to reverse death for free happens. In ANY midia.

i cried so much in this moment
and i explored the whole house to cry even more
I’ve never felt so emotional from seeing 2 virtual characters hug. That scene where Basil and Sunny hugged. Man..
I didn’t even know that this was a GOOD ending since I got this in my first playthrough
Yeah, its because the rest of the endings involves either sunny and/or basil dying
An interesting thing is that the game manages to make the final boss not someone else but yourself, protagonist vs "protagonist", and that is weirdly the biggest change I've seen in rpg styled games
I just realized in the 4th stage of the battle with Omori, that thing in the background is Hell Mari's face.

don't mind me, just wanna cry on repeat
I strongly believe that Kel, Aubrey, and Hero will forgive him. No matter how long it takes…
I believe that it's gonna be hard for Aurbey and Henry to forgive him
@@ruv2323 Aubrey would have some nerve not forgiving him. He did the same thing to Mari that she did to Basil.
@@lasagna3289I think the difference is She didn’t end up killing basil, if she did I bet everyone would have second thoughts. Also, Sunny hid this fact for over 4 years, there’s obviously gonna be resentment that he let them believe in a lie for that long. But, I agree, I think everyone would forgive him someday.
Im not sure if this was a coincidence.
But one day, I showed her Omori and when she saw Mari she said "AYO THATS MY NAME" lmao. She ranted for a good 7 minutes before we had to continue, then she noticed that his name was Sunny. And it's funny because her boyfriend's name is Sunny. (Instead of a Violin he plays the Piano. She finds instruments boring) And when we finished it she said
"Ouch, my boyfriend pushed me down the stairs, his friend named Basil helped him, now he's getting haunted by me. AS HE SHOULD-"
Edit: Sunny isn't his first name, it's Ivan.
👋
I did not anticipate this AT ALL
ok but how do i get my eyes to do that light-reflecty thing that basil's eyes are doing. it reminds me of cats and i want my eyes to be like cats' eyes
Maybe you can get glow in the dark contacts?
bleahc yore eyses
“wow, people actually cry to this shi-“ *final duet starts playing* -“*Sob* *Sob*, huh what? I’M NOT CRYING YOU’RE CRYING. *sob*”
“Basil reaches inside you” um excuse me what 😃
STOP HES A MINOR😨
Poor Sunny
He lost an eye
But he saw the truth
small price to pay for salvation
dang he lost it? thats sad
He's a pirate now
@@Maya-hb8yy it's more damaged they never out right say it's gone.
Nobody:
Aubrey in 46:45: 🔁
i completed the game 100% a month ago and yet i keep going back to the trailers and the finale of the game in youtube.
Fuck ,what a good game.
Like i dont remember enjoying a game this much since forever.
I was able to hold myself together during the duet, but the stump at the end destroyed me, this game is amazing. I don't think I've been affected by a game the same way this one has. I still think about it every day, and I generally get over things quickly. I just don't know how to describe it.
WAAAAAHHHHHHH.
WHY 8 BIT RYAN DID YOU PLAY THIS GAME THEN GET ME INVESTED AND CRY ON HOW SAD THIS IS.
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY...
Dude, i came from his channel as well lol. We're in common. Shout out to @8 Bitryan for this
I'm just so happy that Toby Fox helped with the music
Final Duet: *starts*
me: welp here come the waterworks
In order to get the secret ending, you have to water Basil's flowers every day in headspace. That's it.
The secret ending is simply as follows [SPOILERS]
Basil slowly opens his eyes to see Sunny standing over him, and no one else. Sunny smiles at Basil, as Basil smiles as well, and Basil's SOMETHING disappears... as the two boys finally come to terms with what happened.
Thanks for reading.
I really cried watching this, the feeling in this game i can relate like alot this ending made me remember my dead mother
sunny good ending is like a life story i dream, i never had friend like that yet i wished it if only i'm not weird, if i can go back stop what happen to me maybe i can atleast help my mother died happly and help my father, brother to not be depressed
The point here is that Sunny can't go back. He can only move forward.
I like how when in the omori boss fight Omori's stab ussualy crits, meaning he is sad and probably is thinking he is doing the right thing, cause in reality, Omori really just wants to protect Sunny, although instead it hurts Sunny.
Stab is always a crit.
Oh, well in game it ignores defense, but i dont know if thats how it is in the boss fight itself
@@verynotcoolatalkchannel664
Yeah can't tell if Sunny even has defense
@@Mr_Yeet123
Omori is his defense.
Thank god I got this ending or I would’ve been depressed for life
*Everything is going to be Okay.*
*Super mega agree.*
the secret ending is achieved by watering basils flowers on two days left in HEADSPACE. if you didn't do that, you don't get it.
when the heartrate reaches 10
It says
Everything is going to be okay
Oh, Basil...it wasn't SOMETHING that killed Mari...
It was OMORI.
Well, no it was Sunny.
But he didn't mean to.
OMORI is just a representation of Sunny's depression.
