  • After 43 consecutive losses to Notre Dame, the United States Naval Academy midshipman finally end the streak on November 3, 2007. This video is a tribute to that victory and the "Play of the Game" by Ram Vela (#34) of Navy. This video highlights Notre Dame's fateful decision to go for it on 4th-and-9 on the Navy 24-yd-line. Navy eventually won the game, in triple overtime, 46-44.

    Navy congrats again ending that streak, the talk of the year 2007 season and forever in the history books.! Vela great clip video and congrats to Navy! Is Navy going to play ND this year 2008? Maybe Navy can start their own strak against the ND!!...

    That was such an amazing game, my friend was #92! He also scored a touchdown that day! Just awesome! I was the only Navy fan in the bar and I was freaking out, screaming, and losing my mind. Even better I'm a short blond female. Not the type you'd expect to be losing their shit over some amazing plays! Even better was this pasts seasons victory! Proves Navy Football is no fluke!

    If you listen closely to the video portion of this (the last half), you can hear a Notre Dame fan yelling (at 2:06), "No! No! No!" as the decision was being made to pull the place kicker off the field and go-for-it on 4th and 9. Even the commentator says to the other commentator, "Don't you think this is a mistake?" Who goes for it on 4th and 9 on the opponent's 24 yard line in a tied game with only 45 seconds left on the clock? Notre Dame! The very next week after this loss, Notre Dame lost to Air Force, 41-24. A power house team like Notre Dame losing to TWO service academies in a single season, back-to-back, is a devastating failure.

    I was an ND fan at this game and even though the season was lost by the time this game came around I was still cheering for my team and just figured “It’s Navy…ND always beats Navy.” However once the game really became in doubt and especially once it went to overtime, I actually started cheering for Navy. I mean I figured what’s the difference if I was there for one more ND victory over Navy, but I thought it would be awesome to be there to witness the streak end. When Navy won those Navy kids were so happy. They rushed the field like they won the National Championship or the Super Bowl.

    It is the job of the coach to teach fundamentals, which obviously the players do not have. Also, he takes the points and kicks the field goal instead of going for it on 4th and goal, and we arent having this conversation.

    yup. one of CW's biggest issues was his loyalties to players and coaches along with his stuborness - all of which are already starting to show at KS. And in terms of KU, I can tell you as a former Kansas athlete, that they need a lot more than CW to fix football there.

    @davidemerling i think jasonkidd may be right. I mean you can't just judge the game based on notre dame's history. this was probably the worst notre dame team in their history so while ending the streak was fine for navy, the win really didn't mean anything because notre dame was just so bad. you are disrespecting the naval academy, they have been a good team for a while now.

    Brady was Willingham's recruit. If it wasn't for those racists in South Bend then maybe they would've had won the big games in Weis's first two years and would have at least won at least 2 games so far this season.

But, to answer your question, I make outrageous to intelligent comments to get funny reactions out of people like you for my amusement. Thank you for your support

    @davidemerling dude you're wrong. navy is not a bad team, they have actually been pretty good for a while and have even been a solid bowl team the last couple of years. it doesn't matter whether or not they had beaten ND in over 40 years becasue ND was 3-9 that year, the worst year in ND history. Navy overreacted (as many teams do) to beating horrible ND teams as if they were still being coached by lou holtz.

    @notredameswarrior1 ...which is completely bogus. They haven't had a good coach since Lou Holtz and they know it. If ND doesn't win a ring their fans panic and want their coach fired. I am from WI. If WI goes to a bowl game, we are happy. This year they might be going to a BCS game, which is an awesome thing. Enough about the championships and the Heismans. I will say it again-ND is a shadow of what they used to be and I am sick and tired of seeing them on TV every week.

    You are drinking some serious kool aid the guy. "In Weis We Trust?" He has one win in a bowl game and that was last year to a pathetic Hawaii team. Weis has done NOTHING to earn anybody's trust. And just because they dont play any DII or MAC teams doesnt mean they are playing quality teams. They combined record of their opponents is 33-35. Their wins are against teams with a combined 22-29 record. All but two of those wins by less than a touchdown. You can admit, they arent a power house

    NotreDane is still one of the few teams in major college football to never play aD II scool or any team form the mac. So maybe you should learn more about ND before you talk crap.

  • @336kgf
    @336kgf 14 лет назад

    @notredameswarrior1 Why would I be jealous? I never went to college. I could care less how many rings you have. Remember Jimmy Claussen saying he was going to walk out with 4 championship rings, and all he had was a victory in the Aloha Bowl? Face the facts-nobody cares about ND anymore. They are a shadow of what they used to be. By the way, if ND is such a fine institution, why can't you spell properly? Are you JEALOUS that you don't have a HEISMAN winner on your roster? You shut up.
