My first true introduction to Al Green came around '72, '73. I was 12 or so and Al was one of my Dad's favorites. He, my mother and I had just gotten into the car for a four-hour drive to North Myrtle Beach. Daddy pushed Al's latest into the 8-track cassette player, and that's where it stayed for the entirety of the trip. "Are we going to have to listen to this for four hours?" I asked myself. But by the time we got to the beach, I was a bigger fan than my father.
Brings back lots of memories for me too. I lived at Myrtle Beach every summer. All the beach music and radio on the beach. Graduated HS in 1974 so we had the best music ever growing up. Than you for helping me remember those sweet times. ❤

I saw Al Green at the Monterey Jazz Festival about 15 years ago. He was the main headliner of the Sunday night SRO show. Every time he sang a song ( and he sang them all), the audience would take over and sing the entire song. He just stood there smiling and serenading and having a great time. We will never see the likes of that again! Bless you, Mr Green!

I fondly remember Al Green performing outside in downtown DC. I was so fortunate to be standing near the stage. When he started to do
what I call his "knee bend and strut".. The One and only Al Green handed me arose. Thank you for the memory Mr Al Green.

I grew up on Al Green's music. My mother and Father would wake us up on Saturday morning to clean the house. Of course we didn't want to, but they would put on some Al Green to motivate us. It worked EVERY TIME!! When my mother stopped listening to Secular music she would still play some Al Green. Now when I hear some Al Green I get the urge to start dusting!!
My Cleaning on Sun was with Sinatra with the parents but I loved Al Green and I was 20!!
