    Been watching your videos. Wonderful! Our Cabin Is basically this same one. With the peaked roof in the center and curved galvanizes steel. My question is why did you not put the strips down on this like you have in so many others? Sorry your not way closer (we don't even come close to a ten hour trip- northern Minnesota) Also where could we pick up those materials in mInnesota? Or do you know anyone up here that does the same type of job? ANd Prayers for you!

    I'm wondering why in some of your vids you put down 2x4s before the osb but sometimes you just lay the osb without 2x4s?

    • @Drewsroofingandhomerepair
      @Drewsroofingandhomerepair  Год назад +2

      That’s a very good question.
      Most of my videos show me just going over the metal. The ones that you see me adding one by fours. They sometimes are avoiding wires. For some reason back in the day they thought it was necessary to put wire on top of the rafters. like you’ll see with this video we did not use any strapping.
      ruclips.net/video/JcItyyuK4cI/видео.html
      And sometimes we put them down for this
      ruclips.net/video/6eCF4OBSJNA/видео.html
      Other times it can be that the roof metal is in such rough shape or we want to add support to the rafters

    • @Drewsroofingandhomerepair
      @Drewsroofingandhomerepair  Год назад +2

      I would say 9.9 out of 10 we have to add strapping. Sometimes it is just because we want to get the curved affect

    I wish had known you guys was on RUclips. Roofing is the only thing I was scared to do on my trailer "mobile home" I did not know enough to do it solo. I did everything from hole new flooring to dry wall,plumbing and all electrical all my self. The roof I had no clue and did not find out much to do it.had to let her go 😦

  • @charleschidester6767

    I'm curious about the slip agent used to keep the rubber from sticking together in the roll or while folded. Do you have to sweep most of it off as you roll the rubber onto the glue? Or does it just not matter that much. We are going to do our fifth wheel trailer in the spring. Pretty small job for you guys. But I don't want to do it more than once. I really appreciate your showing us what you do. The dealer wants a fortune to do our 30 ft. Trailer. 1800 quoted. I found the materials for about 500. And think we can do a better job. Thanks. We have a Carlisle plant here and they won't sell the out of date rubber. They toss it in their dumpster once a month. The guy said I could take what I want after hours.. save a lot of money. Is it any good?

    • @Drewsroofingandhomerepair
      @Drewsroofingandhomerepair  4 года назад

      It is basically talcum powder and you do not have to sweep it off while you glue it down when you do the same and put the seams together you have to wash the seam with seam cleaner and then you prime it and then after you prime it you put your seam tape down
