Sunflower. That’s my daughter favorite sunflowers she passed away in 2021 from covid , I miss her so much . She was 48 years old I thank God for the 48 years I had with her.

When I was about 5 or 6 my gramma and aunt did these flower pot holders and that was 72 years ago now I get to learn how it's done thank you you made me happy.

Oh, i bet it is gorgeous, Sam! I did one about 50 yrs ago w a yarn called Dazzle-aire. It was sort of mohairy & glisteny. It had white squares, pink flowers and green leaves. Haven't seen another since then! Take good care of yours, seems they only come around every half century!😄

I can do the basic granny square pattern but your tutorials give me a way to up my game! I am half way through the daffodil flower afghan pattern and will be working on that sunflower pattern next!! Crystal, you have just shown me THE granny squares that I have been looking for! Other floral squares are beautiful but yours actually look like the flower they represent. I did a blanket years ago with the Irish rose and it was pretty hard, but I got it done and gave it to my grandparents. She kept it draped on the couch and if she laid down or if my grandpa laid down they would curl up in it. Thats the only flower I ever did.

This is a great tutorial and you are a wonderful teacher. One thing which would be so helpful is a timeline; because youtube doesn't have a 10 second rewind button it makes it really hard when a person is trying to follow along and misses or misunderstands a step and then tries to rewind back to it. Other than that, everything is perfect! I have already made 8 of the sunflowers and starting on the leaves of one now. I followed every step and they are turning out beautifully. My 5 year old grandson wanted to make a sunflower throw for his Mom for Mother's Day and this is the pattern he wanted. He wanted the sunflowers to be gold and bright yellow. So THANK YOU so very much for this teaching tutorial and making my grandson's wish for his Mom come true. It means more than you know.

I've been making these (but not the sunflower) for a blanket for months. I just need a sixth square to replace the sunflower though, since that one bigger than the others. I love these!
