Your dedication to the sport is admirable. I've got my eldest son into watching your vids. We have a fishing holiday booked for July, 7 days in a Motor Home and we're heading to the east coast. Inspired by you Mr. P.
It was bananas seeing your boat go but I have to say its really great for me as a younger guy to see the grace that comes with change. Thank you for any and all videos.

Great footage taken Graeme. I have spent so much time, by many of the finest chalk streams, over the last forty years. They are wonderful in so many ways. The contain so much life.
Beautiful video again Graeme and it was wonderful to hear Mrs Pullen is on her feet again , it can only get better for her now with summer on its way . Will I ever see Colin ? Still waiting patiently 😭 .
You are right and I apologise I know I said I would put the highly graphic nature-at-its-finest clip up. But I keep getting sidetracked. I have two,one is Colin plus the Kestrel, the other is the most insane mole removal method ever tried..They will be shown..
Its been a manic week what with spending the day helping the boat to be sorted and towed away plus I had a long film scheduled so I knew there was just no way I could edit in time. I don't finish editing until 10pm but its not enough time after a full day's work. Easy if you have nothing to do but edit films, but I don't have that luxury. I caught the stream just right for filming so was lucky.
@@TAFishing yes they would be nice to see. I live in Northern Ireland and like you like to mix my fishing up a bit but have never came across anything as clear and as healthy as that stream, beautiful ... Cheers Graeme take care 👍🎣🎣
What a beautiful River Graham sadly you don’t see many like that today love it , love your channel gave up Fishing years ago and would like to thank you for re kindling my interest in Fishing again 😊
I fish that stretch of the blackwater frequently, it's a long stretch of free fishing. Good for chub, roach and even the occasional barbel and carp. Lovely stretch of the river. Thanks for the videos. It was your river fishing videos that got me into fishing the blackwater. I have caught so many fish trotting a float using the techniques that you teach. Still yet to find a barbel on the float though!
Just come across your channel and it is fantastic. I am in the midlands myself, and live in an old Hall. We have a lake out the back (open for day fishing) that, apparently, is recorded in the doomsday book (so has been there since 1086!!!!). Is covered in Lilys. Has been stocked with carp, but I believe it has some 'wild' carp alongside them. Also, apparently, a catfish or two.... is a beautiful surrounding. Hall was built in 1677 and backs onto the lake. Always here if you want a poke around!
I know this house and stretch of river. The house doesn't flood because of the way it's built with the river running underneath it, in addition the river is well managed by sluices also preventing flooding.
Love watching these videos. My children are started to get interested in fishing because of these. Im a beginner and thank you as these are interesting and offer a lot of help
But without the pipe and horse....I don't know why they don't make that type of film today ,nothing wrong with a bit of nostalgia, they were good times back then.
Lovely shots of the secret river-I walked along there on a guided birdwatching day fairly recently, it is so picturesque! Our guide was telling us that they have had to unfortunately fence off the river in large sections to stop dogs entering the water. Apparently the flea and tick medications were getting in the water and of course it's dangerous for wildlife.
I did see the wiring but I thought it was to keep people from crumbling the banks down. It would never occur to me that dog medication would get into the water..something else I have learned .
2:34 - those scratch marks are either from birds rooting around for food or squirrels searching for nuts they might have buried. We get a lot of small patchy holes like that around my local fishery. Plenty of birds and squirrels up in the trees!
The large landing net was right behind me but for smaller fish I often hand lift them to stop them spinning, twisting in the net which means they are out of the water longer.
I really enjoyed the footage of the chalk stream took me back to my youth when most small rivers and streams ran clear, it is possible to find the odd one these days that still does even without the benefit of chalk. There is a small stream in Bedford runs through an industrial estate on the outskirts of town it has been cut and worked over the years by various bodies but still runs clear unless in spate. narrow enough to jump and about 15 inches deep on average it is often possible to find good sized fish swimming up stream on the hunt, this water has all the appearance of a man made ditch yet still it clings on to life full of vegetation and with a good current it refuses to submit its life force to the hand of man, a lesson to us all.
I think I might get the chance to fish a tiny stream for wild Brownies on the fly, just waiting for the weather to sort itself out and the Mayfly to come off. It won't be anytime soon looking at the current weather chart.
I wonder if diluted PVA might do the same and preserve them a bit longer. I know its only a brick, but with the price they are now it might be worth preserving them a bit longer.
Good Morning. I believe that your squid🦑 is the same as ours here in Greece. This is what we do 1) Hold by the tentacles and hit it 100 times against a rock to tenderize it 2) Pull out the head and tentacles guts and quill (the plastic looking bit) 4) Cut the body into rings and dip them and the head and tentacles into batter and deep fry. 5) Serve with a wedge of lemon. If you soak it in milk it becomes tough and rubbery. Please try and let me know how you got on. Regards Chris.
I saw online it said to soak in milk to prevent it going rubbery ?..and I have to find a rock as well. I have cooked larger squid I have caught and cut them into squid ringsa, but I have never cooked the Baby squid.
I live in South wales valleys.. no sooner had the rivers recovered from the industrial pollution than they built over the hillsides near the source, all the land water now going into sewers.. many are now silted up and devoid of fish due to either lack of water or flooding. Ecosystem destroyed.
Mix pollyfiller powder or any filler as long as its powder and external mix that in with the paint and that will fill the cracks same as internal if you try and put paint in the cracks it will look like they have been filled but when it drys the cracks will open up again

All those empty shells, oysters, mussels, whatever, but you would think you'd have coons ( raccoons) over there, or something similar to a coon. But I don't think they would pack them up on the trail, they'd eat them right by the river side, lake side, and there would be a pile of shells on the bank. Now, you watch Graeme, you will have 8 or 10 other people answering for you, some of them think you can't read & write, I suppose.. anywho, yes indeedy Graeme buddy, keep on keeping on 🤘 and tight lines to ya, when you can!!
I did read that Calamari are a totally different squid to our normal variety, apparently the best eating squid..I also saw it said for our squid to soak the meat overnight in milk which helps soften it. I have not tried that yet.

Frost damage to bricks can be prevented by painting the bricks with a clear water sealer like Thompsons water seal. Also works on terracotta pots.
