Two years out of Atlanta, in Mexico now, Thailand before that, and I still haven't bought a couch. I have been setting on other's couches on dry land, but I want something of my own, I guess it's time to shop for a boat. Thanks for nine years of inspiration.

I so much wanted to join you but by the time my daughter could confirm your boat was sold out. You did motivate us to go on a cruise so we went out the prior week in the BVI on 45 foot catamaran. Thank you for pushing us to actually do this. Just sad I couldn’t meet you but watching your videos made me do it so thanks again.

The edits and accompanying dialog really transported us throughout your travels and events. Going on a Bally 54 catamaran must feel like being on a cruise ship after sailing on Uma! A very nice break from working on Uma’s overhaul. Dan & Kika definitely give off that vibe. BTW, Kika’s hair looks amazing, very lustrous.

If the charter company that had a party of…what did they, 133 or so? After that many people on charter boards and you get a “let’s do it again”, that HAS to tell you a lot about the kind of people attending. Dan & Kika… well that’s no surprise, I can’t see anyone not extending a “please come back” to them, but all the other skippers and their guests, all together and the charter welcomes you back means it wasn’t a bunch of egomaniacs or wannabe “famous people” with no moral compass. Makes all of this even more impressive than it already looked!! 🤠👍🏼☮️

My wife and I bareboated 42' Morgan sloops in the USVI and BVI a couple of times in the late 1980's. The memories are among our most cherished. It was so fun watching this segment and seeing little ticklers of our memories (for instance, I spotted a Bitter End Yacht Club hat on someone's head). I can't wait to see what's in store in the next segment.
As always, thank you so much for sharing.

It's really funny, I watched you from the beginning and because I know a little bit about boats, I was shaking my head at the condition Uma was in when you got her. I was confident that you'd soon be buying a new boat, and eventually end up in a catamaran!
Instead we got the fantastic rebuilds of the old very standard boat interior, and I soon grew a big respect for your abilities as both sailors, repairguys and vloggers. You guys are amazing 😍😍😍

I believe the phrase Never Meet your Heroes came from an epigram attributed to Toulouse Lautrec. He claimed that "one should never meet an artist whose work one admires, because the artist is always so much less than the art." You can replace artist with musician, sportsperson, politician, business man etc. etc. It seems that sailors are the exception to this rule. What a great event and I envy all the participants.

I'm just glad you got to spend time with Brady and Blue. One of the most balanced couple of sailors and life coaches. I've been watching both of them for years, and even though I wish they had been more exposed professionally on YT, I'm so glad they have taken the time to build what they have. Kika I never really appreciated what a strong person you were until I saw you checking into the room at the hotel. You are one strong girl, considering your size, you outclass so many others that I have been privileged to observe over the years. How can they pack so much power into such a small package. Your awesome!!!! Anyway can't wait for the 2nd half of this video sequence.----- Mike

Wow, this video brought back memories! In 2012 we were in the BVI in for our second time. We were fortunate that my childhood friend was crew on an 82 ft Oyster. He, his wife and my wife and I had the boat to ourselves for 10 days. I had some previous sailing experience but that was almost only on dinghies or small day sailors. ( all of which was done with this same childhood friend) we did some sailing and a lot of exploring above and below water. What an incredible experience to sail such a big boat. That vacation still dwells in my mind. Your vid brought all that back! Thanks!😊

Catamaran - the couch version of the monohull (tongue in cheek). And, in rolly waters or confused wavey waters, the multihull will stay perpendicular to all that movement while the keel of the monohull keeps the boat perpendicular to the horizon. At least, that's my hypothesis until proven wrong. Really something to have off-camera honest conversation about with the experienced.
A hammock in the center of a boat can take the rolly out of the motion, not the up-down, but in a saloon-boat you would have enough space for that ;)

Once on a trip from Albany NY to Tucson, we first took a 30 seater from upstate to Newark. There was no wall, and we could all see right out the front. As we were descending to land, we were literally a few hundred feet off the ground, got hit by windshear, our plane turned sideways for a few seconds,......the pilots both said 'whoooooaaaaa" and then the nose turned back to the runway, and boom we landed safely. Seeing out the front is not always better!
