    the way you two can keep the excitement flowing is exceptional .That nice water container looked beeping HEAVY. A true loving companion would have turned the water off .. getting soaked was far more fun . purrfect script . Loving every minute . can,t wait for the UMA renovation / refit to kick off. Plasticell bulkheads are the way forward .. forget soggy plywood .Mould prevention / avoidance must be a real challenge on your "tick list" of things to do / look into .

    To the you don't need fancy toys topic;
    When we were at my cousins birthday, she was maybe 7 or 8 and was absolutely showered with the latest and greatest from Playmobil, Disney and what not and the thing she walke around with all day, ignoring most of the other stuff was the little kaleidoscope lens thingy we bought at a local Christmas market for her. It was so cool to see her joy at seeing the world in a different way and how the smallest and cheapest thing she got was the one that got used the most. Even a few weeks later she always had it tied around her neck.

    I don't know what the reality is. But, on the face of it, I really like the way that Dan, when he's videoing Kika, seems to always find a way of somehow showing her in a way that validates and strengthens her persona. Good to see in a man. Kika does the same for Dan, just in a different way. It's hard to explain. But exemplary. I do hope it's real, social media is so hard to trust.

    Your comment about an induction cooktop struck a spark. We are not sailors but travel with an off road travel trailer. It has lots of solar when the sun is out and battery power. It is short with only 2000 watts inverter and a 1800 watt induction cook top. We love good food and the two burner cooktop is so limiting. I am looking forward to how you approach this on the renewed Uma.

    I have built a little pole behind canopy on a utility trailer that used to pack my 3 Wheeler in and on the two back doors that used to swing open I had my kitchen sink on one side and cupboards and on the other side was my stove and on the side of the trailer I had a clip on table used to take it out of the back of the trailer and then just clip it on the side of the trailer with one leg on it I was really dumb my soul the thing for like 300 bucks and it was all checker plate aluminum that I welded together with a trailer floor and everything and it tilted so I could drive the trick up into the back and then back the track out and then fold down the bed at the front and all your cupboards inside and you're stove and you sink on the doors when you open them up you could cook inside or you could even cook it outside

    Yes it's better you not charge those deepcycle batteries with an alternator. I always try to keep my alternator demand to below 70% of it's rated output. I got it for $300 and am fixing a lot of mechanical issues. It's too small to do what you're doing, so I plan on getting a small enclosed trailer and outfitting it with much of what you are installing... Needless to say, I'm watching these videos, intently... • @SailingUma
      @SailingUma  Год назад +1

      well, we didn't really "have it all" yes, we graduated from architecture school, we started our own company as a way for Kika to have a OPT visa to stay in the states for one year. We did one project over the summer that same year, that allowed us to buy Uma for $3k USD. then we just went along with it. We had just enough saved from another project in Haiti to last a year on the hard to work on the boat. When we left the US and sailed to Haiti in 2016, we had zero money left. From that point on, the channel grew just enough that we were making about $500 a month for the first 2 years. Every dime we made went into starting that journey. But since we were in the Caribbean, with no other expenses to worry about other than food. we were doing just fine And slowly and steadily over the course of 9 years, the youtube channel started to grow more, and we slowly were able to better balance what we spend on ourselves VS what we can invest in the boat or the channel.
      Here are two other videos that may help answer your question:

    Ok, info on ice maker function probably dictated by the science behind what agent is used to cool things down. Tradition type of in home portable ice machine requires you to wait for an equilibration of internal agent after moving the ice maker around. Machine needs to be level and still to operate appropriately: so no making ice moving down a bumpy uneven road. Just my two cents from using an ice machine at home.
