The reason it this plot point seems so out of left field is because it is. Like with Naruto I mostly loitered around the manga and this "bluyakugan" isn't in it. I am sure that at some point it will inexplicably give way to the main plot and become irrelevant. I think they are trying to take whats cool about Naruto and slap a dojutsu on it with this Tom Thumb signature version that is his son. And the manga is getting even stupider because now there is also the "Seringan" yes. Another out of left field dojutsu.

The entire show is a butt pull and doesn’t respect the ground it was built on. Why does boruto need something that hasn’t been documented as existing at all in the entire time the Naruto story has been around? Like why does he even need a made up karma eye?!? Karma wasn’t mentioned at ALL EVER! Why even do that, just show us borutos life and give him a struggle and let’s see his growth. It’s like they only care about money… They just want to impress the watcher with crazy new things when they really aren’t necessary… like “hey they are strong just because, why? Well we don’t know and have no actual foundation… let’s just say it so we can put a story out and make money riding on the coat tails of the original story!!” And it’s so sad.. you know when I watched the original naruto, I wasn’t upset he wasn’t the strongest one around and I could easily accept there were PLENTY of people stronger than him. It’s called character progression and it’s what makes you relate and care for characters. You see their grind, the come up, the struggle and you feel for them and you really get to understand the character. Like they could have made his potential very high and we get to see his progress unfold he is naruto and Hinatas son, it makes plenty of sense he should be really strong. No need to pull out an eye and a power source that hasn’t been even hinted at ever in the power scaling of the story. Like you swear orochimaru shouldn’t have found out about karma? He found a way to read the uchiha tablet and he had an unquenchable thirst for power for years!! Or that madara wouldn’t have know about it, man traveled to the MOON to gain power!! But he knew nothing of karma?!? A thing that can BEAT OTUSUKI?!? Or that HAGAROMO didn’t know about it when he was trying to defeat his mother?!? NO ONE KNEW?!? Please….. just miss me with the entire plot of boruto. It’s so poorly written…..and how I’ll never know why because they had a PLETHERA OF WONDERFUL WRITING and foundation to pull… its just pitiful….
