I'm only 5 minutes in, but already I can see that Seth was misguided by his church. I'm especially disturbed by the line, "I needed help becoming straight." Becoming straight is not the goal, becoming _closer to God_ is the goal. Christ was quite clear that it is best to abstain from sex, to be a "eunuch for God," than to engage in fornication. Marriage is granted to humanity because of the necessary role of sexual reproduction in propagating the species, but Christ makes it clear that the married life is less holy than the spiritual life, but this doesn't mean that being straight is
There is nothing inherently sinful or wrong in having homosexual desires, nor is there nothing wrong with not having heterosexual desires. Where sin comes in is how we choose to _act on_ those desires. Seth's sexual attraction to other men is no more wrong or sinful than my sexual attraction to women. The only real difference is that I can channel those desires into marriage...but that's not particularly useful if the idea of being married is repulsive to you, as it is to me.
Seth and I are both in the same boat, neither of us wants to marry a woman (though we have different reasons), and thus neither of us has an outlet for our sexual drives. So what are both Seth and I supposed to do? We're supposed to embrace a life of celibacy and use our energies to glorify God, which means to do good works in the world. And what if we fail? We're supposed to be contrite and confess our sins. I wonder what church Seth was raised in that he doesn't know this.

Oh, I'm 6.5 minutes in and Seth was raised by evangelicals. Figures. They get everything wrong.

@@wolfofthewest8019hey Wolf. This is Seth- the guy from the episode. :) and yes, I was raised in the Evangelical faith. Southern Baptist as a kid. Then, left for a non-denominational church when I was in high school and felt called into the ministry. In college, I attended a megachurch with Presbyterian roots.

That's a them problem. The scripture is clear. They can either submit to it, and be healed or go on walking in their sin and damnation.

Not seeing much in the New Testament where the Lord and Savior we worship is brought into the picture that supports the eternal damnation of sinners. Or the being gay is even a sin… I was taught to love my brothers and sisters and that only God can judge. But that’s just me 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@GETraumaTherapist Christian Nationalist like this person don't actually believe in Jesus. They just use his name for political gain and to justify their hatred ( that they try to deny they have) of Non Christian groups.
