    For anyone who is scared. It doesn’t hurt at all. I’m telling you guys it is painless. The only annoying thing is the taste from the shot and keeping your mouth open.

    Helpful video. I’m getting my first cavity filled next Wednesday. Sadly my hygienist caused my problem. I was given information on a new flossing technique, where by you glide the floss in and out of the gum line. This has caused food debris to get trapped under the gum line and has eaten through to the dentin.

    I got my first filling today. For me I felt a slight pinch for the shot. I was afraid when people said "pinch." I thought it'd hurt, as someone who is afraid of a shot, it doesn't.
    They said they used air against my tooth which hurt.
    It felt really uncomfortable and after you can't really move your lip. It's uncomfortable smiling too. I wouldn't recommend smiling. It took about three hours for all the numbing to go away. I'm still somewhat sore but it's nothing much.
    In my opinion, getting a tooth pulled is worse.
    If I could give one piece of advice, eat beforehand! Def won't make the mistake of not eating beforehand.

    I was 13 years old when the dentist found a small cavity on my bottom right first molar. I was clueless and I had no idea what is going to happen. I've got an injection to the inferior alveolar nerve to numb the area. I almost pooped myself. It felt like someone is trying to open my jaw from the inside with a crowbar. These types of injections are very painful if the dentist injects the anesthetic really fast. If they can do it slowly then the pressure is manageable and you won't feel the pain. People say the most painful injection is when you have it at the top of your mouth. It's called palatal injection.

    It is not always simple. I have had 2 out of 17 experiences being not ones I want to repeat. Bottom teeth can be hard to numb, and I am a redhead, which can make it worse because local anesthesia is less effective. Most upper teeth are easy one shot and done. Bottom back molars last two (last three if you have wisdom teeth) need block anesthesia where they jab you in the corner toward your ear. Last bottom tooth took six injections including lidocaine, meprivicane, and articane. It was articane jammed between the tooth and bone and a lot of pressure put on the carp that forced some of that into the roots that finally numbed it.

    • @AndrewChwalik

      Gosh, sounds like you've had some intense experiences! Glad mine was pretty simple.

    • @NETWizzJbirk
      @NETWizzJbirk 3 года назад +1

      @@AndrewChwalik They normally are simple... there are different levels of numbness though just so you know. There is profound where it feels like vibration and sound only, then there is almost profound where it feels like ice cold sensitivity with a hot spot and mild to moderately painful (you can let the procedure continue) but your blood pressure is probably through the roof, and finally there is failure to numb... because it’s like being stabbed with a red-hot ice pick AND being electrocuted at the same time. Have had the last one only once. Almost profoundly numb is common for me for bottom back molars. I usually get somewhere between almost profound and profound on top teeth with Articane.

    • @NETWizzJbirk
      @NETWizzJbirk 3 года назад +2

      @@AndrewChwalik Yes. They don’t use novacaine anywhere anymore because a small percentage of folks are allergic. They use five major local anesthetics though there are more than five combinations because there are different amounts of a vasoconstrictor drug such as epinephrine. For example 2% Lidocaine /w 1:100,000 Epinephrine is probably the most common and inexpensive and safe local dentists use. In contrast, 3% Meprivicane without epinephrine works is often carried for folks who claim epinephrine causes them problems like racing heart (it’s only a tiny amount used in dentistry). Bupivicaine results in long term numbness, Never had a dentist use Priolocaine though it is available. 4% Articaine /w 1:100,000 Epinephrine word the best on me. You can tell by the band color on the carpule. Lidocaine is Red (or green), Articane is Gold or Silver... it depends on the ratios of both drugs. It’s the Gold ban Articaine that they use on me. The silver has half as much epinephrine. But yes, I am in the USA, and YES, a your dentist has a number of different amine based local antistatics in his or her proactive... all are fairly very safe compared to the ester based drugs that preceded them... Next time ask. If something works very well, ask what it was. For many folks, Articaine is used to numb hot teeth for root canals of infected teeth. IT IS GENETICS AND ANATOMY... Some mouths or teeth are harder than others to numb.
