Very nice of Ian McCulloch to say that he likes The Cure when asked about anyone he particularly likes in music/singing. Robert Smith from The Cure, likewise, is a big admirer of Echo and the Bunnymen.
Why??? he went awol and was a drugged up mess and had to be brought home from USA by Bill Drummond! Very sad what happened to him but never understand all the fawning over him! He thought he was a bigger star than the rest of them and he was lucky they took him back.
The lads didn't really get a chance to say much, with Peter Cook taking over the talking, bloody hell, I know it's Peter Cook, who comes across like a stretched Kenneth Williams, but still, an interviewer actually is supposed to interview and listen, whoever he is. He's no Terry Wogan for sure. He's also bloody rude, to Will. Bring on the Dancing Horses is not camp, it's a beautiful, arch and elegant song, sorry but he's an idiot, I don't care if he's supposed to be a genius comic. Let's face it he was hardly Buster Keaton.
That Douche Interviewer was a comic genius and playing a persona, and the Bunnymen reference one of his routines with Duley Moore when they mention The Horn
Who's calling Peter Cook a Douche? Some fuckwitted twatmuffin obviously, nothing more than a crusty stain on the shorts of humanity..... Peter fucking Cook is simply THE GREATEST most articulate and intelligent comedian to have walked the planet and DEFINITELY not a douche.....
@@andrewphippsphillips1455 wasnt me calling PC a Douche someone else had replied all those years ago and reffered to him with that insult, tbh he should have sent Ephraim round to sort him out. . .
@Macavity They should have been for sure, his contemporaries amassed more fame & fortunes, (Bono and Chris Martin) and why?? Don't think for a minute they were better. Breaking up for a spell did not help. By no means failing at all, they maintained a following thus why many of us are watching where there are no rock stars anymore. I had found this band/Ian's vocal special so much so as to (back burner) them aside expecting more but media wise it was less. Ian also was advantaged over others for his good looks and charm that could have helped too somehow. As an artist, you are part of your own art, create greatness but if no one knows of it, it does not exist. Now the Bunnymen and others still on stage from the 80s. They still got 'it' IMO so I'm watching.
Ok, as a stupid American, I have to ask, who is Peter Cook? Is he the guy who played Mr. Bean? Please don't hunt me down and kill me, I'm asking for a friend.

heard an old interview with the Cure from the early 80's and they all mentioned Bunnymen when asked who they like
You might wanna mention Peter in your description... kind of a big deal.

Q: How to make Ian McCulloch smile.
A: Give him Peter Cook and a plant that tickles his head
How brilliant television was back then, no Murdoch controlled bollocks, can we rewind the world and replay it without Murdoch and Cowell etc....
This is the first time I've ever been able to hear what Ian's saying. Bless.
I can hear Ian, I just can't understand what he's saying!
Awww he said the cure
YOUR PFP omg i love it
Think they were a bit star struck by Peter Cook.
I really miss television like this. Beautiful.
Mac looks starstruck, bloody hell that's a one off!
Surely you jest.
Im here to stare at Mac , hes so beautiful aaaahhhhhhhh
Move over Sam...
Pete And the Cookie Men
Fuck, I thought I was looking at Alan Partridge in the 80s
Great great band, seeing them in Liverpool December this year .....
Mr Cook.
Legendary.

@@pvtjohntowle4081because he’s clearly got a droll sense of humour and sarcasm mate, hence why Ian was laughing when he doesn’t with most interviewers
RIP Pete de Freitas he was the beating heart of the band. Their first 3 albums are the best.
Ian used to be friendlier and smiled quite often, nowadays....dude is uptight as hell and antagonistic. I wonder what caused the change????
Failure.

drugs, mate. what else? and the fact that the first four albums are insane--the rest absolutely without merit.
Peter Cook!!!

What do you need Jesus for when you have Ian Mcculloch?
@@Makado14Exactly 💯
never seen this. a genius and three underachievers
😁🤣😂🍻
Alan Partridge, what are you doing?
The interviewer must be from Liverpool, too. I understand as much as he is saying as much as I understand Ian.
For some reason that doesnt look like Ian
It's Jimmy Fallon😮
Did he call Will Sargent an idiot? Was Will trying to touch the controls or something on that robot?
absolutely tremendous.
Pete de Freitas does not have

Very famous British comedian from the 70s/80s. Used to work with Dudley Moore (more famous in america for films like ‘Arthur’)
@@maryburke5423 thank you

Ian looks like Jimmy Fallon with a cool haircut in this lol
He kind of does! 😂
The interviewer's such a dork. The band is polite and bemused. 😁
Not a dork at all, but a deadpan comic genius.
"The interviewer"? Thats Peter Cook - the whole thing was about "him" being there. And the band played on. Its a great clip. Mac clearly "got it"
