Hello 👋👋 I've been learning English for 6-7 years now and I can speak it quite well. I love to watch your videos though - just like this one - because I still learn a lot! You teach more than just theoretic things like how to pronounce certain words. You also teach words and phrases that are useful for one's daily life! I sadly don't learn such things at school. Your videos are made well and they are quite fun to watch! Thank you and have a nice day! Greetings from Germany ❤

It’s amazing how easily both of you teach English to us...especially explaining the meaning of a word in a proper context or situation seems to make the word last longer in my mind. Were both of you engaged in the field of education?
Hello Eunhye. So glad you like our channel. We have several goals - to help the world communicate, to make learning English fun and very importantly, to present language in context. So we're delighted that you recognized that and you find it useful too. I've been teaching English for forty years and teaching language in context has evolved as a guiding principle for me because knowing when it's appropriate to say things is really important and, as you say, it makes the language more memorable. So as I said, I'm a teacher and also a writer. Jay's original degree was in English and then later he got another one in instructional design so he works in education, but he doesn't have a background as an English teacher. I think he's a film maker at heart. :-)

@GABRIEL GREGORY That's just because it's easier to understand, only just for that. :-) In my opinion, English language (spoken in different countries, ) is the most beautiful language in the world. :-)
@@SimpleEnglishVideos Sure they did. I suggest you make a video on how to differentiate between the present perfect and the simple past for actions happening now, a very short moment ago. For example, Vicki said: "I've spilt my tea" and then "I drank your coffee by mistake". Both of these situations happened almost now, both have a clear reference to the present, yet she used different tenses. And that's what non-native speakers find confusing. :)
I'm so glad I found your channel! Your videos help me learning English in an easy and entertaining way. I really appreciate your effort you put in these videos. Keep up the great work!
"Damn" is sometimes considered a very mild swear word in the US. A good alternative to using "damn" would be to use "darn. Such as "Oh darn!" or "Darn it!" or "Darn!" which is not bad at all! If I were around kids I'd use "darn" rather than "damn."
Hi Vicki and Jay! I’m a native English speaker but I’m curious to know the differences between the American/British ways of saying that you have done something. For example, in the U.S. we would probably say, “I just made a mistake” but British English I often hear things like, “I’ve just made a mistake” where the tense is different. I think it might be a helpful topic for English learners too, as they might benefit from knowing the subtleties of the past tense in English. By the way - thank you for these videos! It’s really enjoyable to learn logical rules for things I had never thought about in English :)
