I've discovered this channel recently and I can't help myself to stop watching the videos, they're so cute ❤
Welcome to our channel, Tania. It's great to meet you and thanks for writing. :-)
Same with me. I have discovered it recently it is simply amazing. I just can't stop. Especially I'm found of those, where pronunciation is polished. And indeed it proves English is tricky. But it is wonderful in any respect.
The same happened to me. I just can't stop myself from watching them! In fact, I spend most of my day watching them.
I can understand every single word. ❤️
That's great to hear Serena.
Me too! And it is obvious because they explain so well!
Lovely people. Lovely way of teaching. They look so cute together. A beautiful and calm way of communication. Awesome 👍👏😊
Abdul, that's so kind of you to say. Thanks for watching our videos.

Oh Natasha, I'm so sorry you have lost your grandmother. Big hugs. xxx
Thanks for giving new phrasal verbs, some of which I was oblivious about.

Hi Vicki and Jay! Very informative, and quite engaging and interesting to watch ☺ I like how you've integrated the phrasal verbs so wonderfully and naturally in the conversation ☺ Brilliant as always, and I never stop learning from you guys ☺ Thank you for your effort!
So glad you liked it, Ahmed. It turned out to be pretty easy to integrate the verbs. I wrote a long list of them before we started but the conversation was unscripted. We found ten of the verbs fitted in what we wanted to say. A nice round ten - that was a stroke of luck.
I had loved yours watched about phrasal verbs. the couple more cool on my Friday.
Take care and until next Friday !
Thanks Severino. So glad you liked it and see you next Friday!

We're so pleased we could help you learn, Rock Road.
Thank you for your efforts.
You're very welcome Aimanno.
I love english foods!
StrawberryShortcake Mitchell, this is Jay writing back to you. It's very interesting that you love English foods. Some of Vicki's favorite British foods aren't available in the United Sates so we have to import them. And there are some I just can't develop a taste for like Marmite and Pickled Onions. Thanks for writing to us and thanks for watching our video.
I love this.
Hi Bobbie. We're really pleased you found this one worthwhile.
🍏 George ran out of peanut butter so he decided to cut down on eating watermelons so he could buy even more peanut butter next time. At the same time, George polished off 56,238.45 pickled sandwiches. George is a big eater. 😄 Thanks for the great video and positive energy! 👍🍎
Delighted you liked it Able English.
Great vid. As usual.
Thanks Javi!

Oh then it was perfect timing, Miriam! Excellent! Wishing you and your students bon appetit from Philly!
Very interesting video. you guys are lovely.
Thank you Monika 🤗 So glad you liked it.
Tão legal , amei!!
That's great to hear Dejanira. Thanks for writing.
That was Lovely😊💕
Amazing video
Every phrasal verb is explained so well
I recently tried British butter biscuits from the walker company and they were very amazing.
I also tried American candies and British chocolates many many years ago(perhaps 2005 or 2006) and still I remember their taste.
But have you tried a Hobnob Saad Ali? They're the best. :-)
@@SimpleEnglishVideos no I haven't had that but same biscuits are sold here whose name is innovative digestive biscuits 😊
You have a very good explain. Thank you.
So glad you found the explanation clear. Thanks for writing Monveva.
you guys are so cute. I am a bit advanced in English but still watch it, also tell me if somewhere in my eng sounds wrong. We improve together. :)
Hello Nam Tran. Your English sounds great and we're so glad you like the videos.
Thanks so much
You're welcome!

Our pleasure, Taher.
Excellent lesson
So glad you liked it, Fatima.
Adorable couple!
Thank you Val!
thank you it's very usefull
That's great to hear Mohammad. We are planning to release another video about phrasal verbs this Friday.
Thank you, I shared this with my students.
Thanks Cleona!
I was surprised not to see a couple of packets of English biscuits in the Christmas package. Maybe that's because Jay has to 'cut down on' the calories! Have a wonderful holiday you two, and thanks for all the lovely videos you've made this year.
Yeah, it's the calories, Craig. If we ordered hobnobs or chocky digestives, they'd disappear in a day.
And thank YOU Craig for all the help and support you've give us this year. Sharing ideas... appearing in videos ... even jumping in to rescue us at the last minute. It's much appreciated and I plan to call on you again to appear in skits in 2018 if you will.
Always a pleasure to contribute, Vicky. I hope to be in Philly in July next year for podcastmovement.com/ , so maybe we can get together then. Also, Christmas pudding was not in the box?!?
FANTASTIC! Don't book a hotel. You're staying with us! You can walk there from our house, and anyway, I have tons of videos I want to make with you. Wehey!
Don't worry, Christmas pud was there, just down at the bottom.
I really love your lessons and want to thank you for them. I hope my first sentence is grammaticly right 😅
It was grammatically correct and so glad you like them Anne.
I love learning English in this way😍
We're so pleased we are helping you learn English. Keep it up :-)
I got really really amazing video thanks a lot
We're really glad you liked it Faraz. Thanks for letting us know.
Both of you are lovely :) Heinz baked beans... we've got here in Malaysia too.
Karen. This is Jay writing back to you. The funny part of this is that Heinz is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, about 300 miles from where we live in Philadelphia. But Vicki imports them from the UK. The truth is, I prefer them as well. Take care.
hi. The phrasl verb you asked us if we had spotted is not about food, so is it blow up? I have to say that I love this channel
You're correct Luciene. :-)
“We’re gonna PIG OUT on them”... was that the phrasal verb you wanted us to spot? (Hopefully)
Great work, guys! Been enjoying all your lessons a whole lot! Keep ‘em coming! Thanks!
Are Jay and Vicki together? They are lovely!
Yes, AD27. This is Jay writing back to you. Vicki and I are married. Thanks for watching our video.
Excuse me! Please! Thank you so much. Greetings from BRZ. São Paulo State. Santos City. Congratulations! 🇱🇷🇧🇷
Hello Olavo and greetings to Sao Paulo! Great to meet you!
Dear teacher! Thank you so much. It´s an honor to receive your return. I'm watching your videos. Excellent. I'm subscribed to your channel. My best regards from Santos City. S. P. State. BRZ
I tried mince pies, it’s a very delicious English recipe.
Oh glad you liked them Sally. We love them too. :-)
WOW! You both are stunning. Dear teacher, I've subscribed your channel from Emma channel which I am mostly learning from her.I have found your lesson very useful for me and as a beginner learner, I assume these lessons quite useful for me to take my poor English to next level.
Please, teacher, try to do a lesson on how to make sentence structure I am usually confused about making sentences. I hope so: you will respond my request in kind. Thanks a million
Hello Abdul and welcome. So glad you've found us! I think you are better than a beginner! Funnily enough I was wondering whether to try to make a video about English sentence structure today. I'm not sure how to approach it yet. Do you have any questions or things that confuse you?
i love your videos
So glad you like them ung. Thanks for writing.
Jay sounded so disappointed that he couldn’t have chocolate.😭😭😭
He always is Blind Bookworm. He doesn't have many vices by chocolate is one of them. :-)
Blow up - to explode 👍👍👍
That's right Michele. You got it! Well done.
lovely toghether!!😍
Thanks Donato. :-)
@@SimpleEnglishVideos i was born in the U.S
but i live in italy from many years. YOUR VIDEOS ARE GREAT WELL MADE AND REALLY USEFULL
I got hungry during watching your video! OMG! I love Heinz' Baked Beans! *___*
And Knorr actually is a German company, now belonging to the international Unilever corporation :O
And you know Vicki? I have been several times to GB up until today. I do love British Flapjacks! You make the best Flapjacks from all around the world! ♥
I'm so super jealous of your Holland and Barret as well as the Whole Food markets. Paradise for a vegan like me :D There are so many vegan cookies, biscuits and other stuff here in Germany, but Britain is the world's best cookie, flapjack nd biscuit bakery *____* And of course.... British tea ♥
Once or twice a year I have to order a package from GB ♥
Oh I adore flapjacks too, Stefanie. I used to buy Tate & Lyle syrup to make them but they're so fattening, we had to stop. Don't get Jay started about Whole Foods. He adores the place. :-)
Vicki, I've made the exact same experience 😮
It's slightly irritating that many products contain much more fat or sugar or salt in the USA or in Germany than in the UK or France.
And yes! I'm totally with Jay when it comes to Whole Foods market. As a vegan it's THE place to be 😋
I am missing English food so much.
Nothing can beat mince pies!
Hi JCH. This is Jay writing back to you. Vicki has to import her favorite British treats like pickled onions. We get a big case of food from the UK every year! Thanks for writing to us and thanks for watching our videos.
Simple English Videos thx a million Jay.
I discovered your videos a few days ago, and it is a delight.
It helps me a lot keeping up with my English, after spending a decade in London, in a joyful way.
And also learning about American English.
One thing I have considered and never managed to handle properly. The different pronunciations of the (th) sound. Especially after spending time in London where a table cloth becomes a table “cloff”.
Maybe a subject you might want to discuss in the future.
Have a nice weekend
Thanks a million for the great help. The phrasal vern number 11 is 'to blow up'. Right?
Yes, that's right Mohammed. You've got it!
After watching your video I was craving Heinz Baked Beans like hell 😂
So I made myself a can of Baked Beans and a lye bun with margarine and herbs for lunch 😂😂
I understood every phrasal verb
Excellent work Nurun. Keep it up and thanks for watching our videos.
What a delicious and informative video.
The other phrasal verb is "pop up".
So glad you liked it Dorinda! Thanks for writing.
Hello you both!
What a great preparation for Christmas!
"Blow up" ...is it the phrasal verb non mentioned in the conversation?
I saw another one:" pull apart" but I'm not sure it's a phrasal verb.
Happy Christmas!
Yes! I was thinking of 'to blow up' meaning to explode. Well spotted! And you found another one too, that I hadn't noticed. The Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary list 'pull apart' as a phrasal verb with the meaning ' to separate something into pieces by pulling different parts of it in different directions'. Well done Franciose!
@@SimpleEnglishVideos Thank you for the definition.
Hello guys! Love your videos: I'm getting addicted.
Was the last phrasal verb "to blow up"?
Waiting for your kind reply...and in the meantime, I'm going to have something taste to eat!
Yes it was Erica! Great job! Hope you found something really tasty to eat and thanks so much for writing. :-)
Vicki That phrasal verb was hang on
:-)
Hi Vicki and Jay, love to see your videos! I was wondering whether you guys are affected by each other's accents and finally have got some minor changes in your speaking?
Hi Sylvia. Great question! I'm sure we must have been influenced by one another's accents. It's hard for us to say where though because, of course, we're not conscious of it.
I would expect Jay's accent to have been influenced less and mine more, because we're living in the midst of Americans. Jay claims that when we're in the UK I'm harder to understand for him. I think it might be because I switch back to using a lot of familiar local terms that he's not familiar with when I'm with English friends and family, but maybe some of it is accent.
I had a meeting once with lots of linguists at Oxford Universatity Press and as the meeting wound up they commented on how British I still sounded despite living in the US. But then someone piped up that I'd used an American phrase here and someone else commented that I'd pronounced something an American way there. Ha! I thought they'd been focused on the discussion at the meeting, but of course, as lingusits they were tracking my speech. They couldn't help themselves! And actually I'd like to know too.
Love mince pies and custard. Both are served hot (For me)
Mmmmm. Me too Alexandra. :-)
I had not run into the phrase chopped meat before I moved near Philadelphia. In the Midwest it is 'ground' and then the kind of meat, as in ground beef, or ground turkey.
Oh interesting. In British English it would usually be simply 'mince' or sometimes 'minced meat' and we would expect that to be beef. Turkey isn't as popular in the UK as it is in the US.
Hi Vicky and Jay! No marmite in the box? I tried it in New Zealand and I became addicted to it! 😁
Ha! Great question! That's funny Cau. The reason it wasn't in the box is because I already had some in the cupboard. But I do like it, as you'll see here: ruclips.net/video/PTNF_oCO2CM/видео.html
pickle(noun) vs pickled(adjective)
sweets/candy = sugar/cane
(fireless)cracker
stock cube = cube de bouillon
to polish v Polish
Lots of foods ❤❤❤❤❤❤
:-)
Wait you live in Philadelphia? so do I! would love to meet you guys.
We're in Center City Kevin. If you're around one day we could all grab a coffee somewhere. Weekends are best for us.
thx mam
You're very welcome.
9:42 Thank you for emphasizing this aspect, that is the tendency of adding a particle to the verb... as if, without particle, the verb were naked! ;o)
Also, please try to give a "simple" verb corresponding to a phrasal verb. I'm sure there's always one, even forgotten..., like the sleeping princess or the toad waiting for the kiss of deliverance!
Hi Aredas. You're right that often there is a one word verb that corresponds in meaning to a phrasal verb, but not always. For example, there is no one word equivalent to 'run out'. Also, where there is a one word verb, it's generally not a simple substitute for all contexts. Phrasal verbs tend to be less formal and more colloquial. So for example, it would sound a bit awkward to say 'apple pie combines well with ice cream'. 'Apple pie goes well with ice cream' would be more likely.
