The reason why stage 2 feels slower..is because you dont have all the right components to accommodate the stage 2. You need primary and Secondary intakes. A recirculating valve. A short shifter would also help. You have the intercooler...and piping. Plus most important update your exhaust system. And downpipe.
For the stage two could you get away without the secondary intake, the motor mount Cobb produces, and could you supliment for the blow off valve? I’m trying to learn these cars as I have bought one myself not long ago. Thanks!
Also my car currently has a Injen intake and 3”injen exhaust. I know I need the access port and the front mount but other then those two will the car perform beautifully in stage two vs stage 1?
Don’t get your stage 2.?. In Uk I’m running revo stage 2. Includes full mill tech sports exhaust 200 cell, revo intake, inter cooler, charge pipes, and stage 2 software run on 99 octane v power fuel. 440bhp 620 nm of torque. O to 60 4 seconds. Proper fast. That’s a proper stage 2 not what you’ve got.
barry smalley US stages are different to UK. COBB seems overrated and only seems to add mid range power and not top end. My stage ‘2’ 1.6 ecoboost isn’t much slower than this from 50-90
Are you running the supported mods to run a ots stage 2 tune maybe? You should get a pro tune for 91 then pro tune for e30. Show people the difference .
Cool video idea. To lazy to examine the time differences myself. Is this 91 or 93 octane fuel? STG 0 is still a Cobb tune, FYI It's a stock like Cobb tune, but not actually the OEM stock tune. You need to "uninstall" the AP to restore the actual OEM "stock" tune.
1) Good that you're doing these in 3rd gear since your "stage 0" tune won't have overboost in 1st and 2nd. 2) Looking at the amount of boost is not reliable since the computer is trying to hit torque/power targets, not PSI targets. On a cooler/hotter day, or if you drive somewhere with more/less elevation, you're guaranteed to see fluctuations in boost. 3) Are you taking into account heat soak in back to back runs? How soon after each run are you repeating with the next run? While your Intercooler is meant for lower temps and more consistency in back to back runs, it's not 100 percent efficient. 4) You already know this, but the only true way to measure these is either on the Dyno or at the track. The Butt Dyno is deceiving! Great video as always and looking forward to the next one! 👌
I'm going to do the same testing in my RS, but I will be using a G Tech Pro accelerometer. It's about as accurate as a real dyno run and can store the results for comparison. Good call on the use of 3rd gear for the acceleration run; due to the overboost function limitation in 1st and 2nd.
@@stephenmoxley3004 Stephen Moxley The G Tech is a good choice, as long as you're consistent in measuring data other than "feel". Should be a fun test! 👍
Would like to see custom tune for CO! Not on E30, but 91 pump gas. Don't want you to blow that motor and loose the content. 91 is practical for CO. Too many overmoded RS's out there not running properly. You know them. Have personally seen stage 1&2 tunes not running optimally due to boost pressure loss on lift and wastegates blowing. That's where custom tuning on dyno would show what your current tune is really doing. Thanks for the vid!
Did you purposely added the green shift light arrow on your car? From my understanding no RS is supposed to have it since it was deleted per ECU update a few years ago.
I don’t focus rs tuning. But over here in the vw/Audi world. We don’t run stage 2 without downpipe and high flow exhaust, fmic, and bypass valve upgrade. Exhaust is prob the most important turbo car mod. Keeps the turbo a lot cooler as well. Which will reduce you iat. Your ecu is prob pulling timing, even with your fmic upgrade. A lot of back pressure with oem exhaust. The cat mainly. At least get a 200 cell high flow cat
No way, you're in Colorado Springs. You pulled into the King Soopers parking lot and I was like wtf? You may have seen me around in the stealth grey 2017 RS.
I'm driving a stock 2017 Focus RS there's no reason to tune it it has 350 horsepower how much do you really want it's a 4-cylinder just my opinion it drives brilliant the way it is
At CO altitude, that 350 crank hp feels more like 250 wheel. Not overwhelming for an AWD car with loads of grip. On the track it can certainly use more. The question then becomes, which tune and mod is going to blow the engine or trans. Keeps the videos interesting.
Mine is stock as well and makes 288 whp and 355 wtq. I feel like 350 whp and 400 wtq is the sweet spot for this car. Anything more is just foolhardy without properly supporting the cylinder bores.

Stage 1: RMM/intake
Stage 2: RMM, intake, downpipe, tune
Stage 3:RMM,intake,Downpipe, intercooler, tune
You do not need a dp on a stage 2 or a aftermarket intake. Stock intakes are perfectly fine with just a cobb or greenfilter in it.
@@reminiz1, of course you don’t need to. Heck, you can also go stage 3 with stock car. It’s whether you want to capitalise on the stages or not…

Why don’t you test it in sport or track mode to get all the throttle response?

The Cobb tuner has the green shift light. I know mine did not have it stock. Then when I turned it with the Cobb that showed up
Pat Serio Yep, same with my wife’s 16 RS. Installed the Accessport with stage 1 COBB tune and the shift light magically appeared.
@@patserio6988 So if you have a access port you can make it so the light shows up? Thats pretty cool
My 2018 RS have the green arrow.. does it mean it's been tuned ?
Got a fat FMIC and awe track exhaust. This spring I do the ic plumbing, intake and intake throttle body spacer w/ pro tune. Can’t wait.
26lbs of boost??? That’s quiet a bit of boost. Stage 2 did look slower than 1 but hard to judge by a video.

Cobb off the self tunes are crap.. custom tunes are needed to make the focus RS to run good.
Right on that.
Right on that!
I’ll second that. Tick tock tick tock 💣
Great video !! I definitely think stage 1 was faster 👌👍
You need the supporting mods for stage 2
Apparently in "Mexico" everybody is tuning and street racing
Driving a stock 17 Focus RS there's no need to 200 anymore how much do you really want out of a motor it's a 4-cylinder
Lol there's 800hp evo's out there. Don't put down the 4cyl 😂

Yeah!!
You need wastegate actuator

350hp starts to feel slow after a while. I feel his need for speed. Just can’t cry when it breaks and you’ve voided your warranty.

Total waste of money in my opinion, the difference between all 3 is unmeasurable. The stage 2 on mine is way quicker than that mate.
How is your rs doing so far with stage 2 after 1 year? No cracked block?

I just hope you did not run out of gas!!! Lol lol great videos 😎
stage 2? the next step is stage destruction of your engine!

I think the problem with your acceleration is the emblem on the front of your vehicle......
Seems like my 95 bolt on prelude b faster
Fuel light on.. congrats LOL
Butt dyno?? Yeah!!!!
If you still have the cat fitted then you cant get the benefit from stage 2
Bye bye motor
FictionFoREVer Nah those cars are pretty good not like a Subaru 😂. What’s the worse that’s going to happen a head gasket?
not with ots tunes. always get a custom tune
