    This have changed my way of drawing very much. I've been using CSP for a while and never realized this was actually something already made as a tool.

    that is actually crazy good for character design, people always stress how important it is to make recognizable silhouettes but never actually sketch this way :]

    • @moltenbolt
      @moltenbolt  11 месяцев назад +2

      It's very good for quick ideas for sure. The only trap is that it can lull you into never finishing the design - so I always pick one of the silhouettes, knock back to opacity, and fill in the details so that I push past just the silhouette 😁

    In definitely a lot more musically inclined than drawing/visual art inclined but I’ve been producing music for a very very long time
    I can always get a good flow going learning softwares but the fundamentals of art are just hard for me.
    I can’t picture an image in my head like I can a song.
    This tip is soooooooo nice! ❤

      I also have an easier time with writing music hahah but throwing down some shapes and blocking something out in silhouette works super well 😁

      @moltenbolt 😅 I'm trying. Lack of consistency will be my downfall. I also have a hard time imagining things to try to make. I spent 5 hours making a stylized ear of corn last night. Making the remaining 18ish fruits and veggies plus miscellaneous farm objects and tools isn't sounding as fun as when I started.

    can you effectively do the shape carving method in blender grease pencil with changing solid stroke to solid fill?

    • @moltenbolt
      @moltenbolt  Год назад +1

      Great question!!! The answer is yes. Setting a material to only have a fill color (no stroke) will act the same as the lasso fill tool does. To erase quickly (in order to "carve"), you could create a separate, fill-only material with the 'holdout' button checked. The holdout fill material will act as an eraser.

    Can this be done in ArtRage and Affinity Photo? Great vid. Love it when you say 'heah'. My son loves it, too and he chuckles along with me!

    • @moltenbolt
      @moltenbolt  Год назад +2

      I'm not familiar with either of those programs personally, but from a little digging it doesn't look as though either of them has an easy setup for this tool. Both have lasso tools for selection, but neither has a method to fill them automatically from what I can tell.
      Despite that, the shape carving method will still work just as well, it will just be a bit slower. If you can bind hotkeys in either of ArtRage or Affinity, then I suggest binding the lasso tool and the fill tool [almost universally represented by a paint bucket] to easily accessible buttons so that you can make a shape with the lasso and fill it in with the brush. This is how I used to do it before the Lasso Tool proper in Clip Studio Paint and Krita.
      Hope that helps, and thanks for the support!

    Can this work in Inkscape? This is basically how the pencil tool works but I don’t know of a keybinding to quickly swap the fill color.

    • @moltenbolt
      @moltenbolt  8 месяцев назад +1

      I'm not sure of a quick color swap keybind either, just looked to see if there was one built in. Might be able to set a custom keybind. As for whether or not it will work, it definitely will. Anything that can block out a silhouette quickly will do the trick!

    Can I do this in procreate on the iPad?

    • @moltenbolt
      @moltenbolt  Год назад +2

      Yep, it sure can! Select the lasso tool in the top left tool section (looks kinda like an S), then down in the bottom right area, select the Color Fill tool (which looks like a paint bucket spilling over). You can then draw your selection and once the shape is closed, it will fill with color automatically :)
