What I really like about your lessons is you don't act as if your audience just picked up their first guitar yesterday and make the lessons painfully slow. You have great lessons for the intermediate player. Many tutorials are so slow it's brutal. Thank you!
great lesson of probably the best oasis song, i am not a big fan of them but this song is one of the best pop rock songs of all time. the melodies are beautiful! muchas gracias carl!
Great lesson - been wanting to see a clear demonstration of the solo parts! I managed to figure out some of the fills from the music video for this song now i can really nail down the solo!
Great Job Carl. Thanks. It´s interesting how they pick to use E instead of Em, being that the key is C. Also it´s interesting how they sneak the D7/G#. My ear told me there was something different and ti was this last chord. Thanks again!
Don't Look Back from Boston would be a good song lesson idea. Also, as they are nearing their final concert in a couple of days in LA...another Rush song would be appropriate maybe?
@@kanhatiwari8632 What are you talking about? He did the intro chords (C & F). The other guy is on about the lead part played with an electric guitar on the record but he didn’t cover any of the lead here.
Hey Carl - I LOVE that effect that moving from a major to a minor chord of the SAME root (in this song Fmaj to Fmin in the prechorus) has to the overall sound of a passage. This happens a few times with C#maj to C#m in the song Buddy HOlly by Weezer. In my limited study of music theory (2 semesters of jazz improv in College), I know the chords which are supposed to fit into a certain key are always major OR minor of a given root note, but NEVER both. However, this still sounds so cool and not at all awkward. Is there a name for this use of shifting from a maj to min chord of the same root in succession with each other and what is it? Also, does it only sound good if played on a certain step of a song's key's scale (i.e. in this song, the F is the 4th since the song's in C major). Thanks so much if you can help. Great lesson too, but I would REALLY like you to teach all the guitar fills as well. I think there are actually 2 separate lead tracks playing different fills either back and forth or simultaneously at diff parts of the song.
+jawojnicki hey there, that harmonic device is called a couple of different things but the most common name for it is modal borrowing. What it is doing is "borrowing" the iv chord from the parallel c natural minor key. So they went from the IV of C major to the iv of c minor.. It is very common in popular music :)
Thought I’d throw my hat in the ring for this comment. They really teach u that u shouldn’t go from root major to minor in music school? That’s bizarre because it clearly works in this song and many others. I think if you get too bogged down theory it can acc limit what you can come up with. Noel had no knowledge of music theory he wrote all his songs by ear. Which I think everyone should , only sse theory as *inspiration* and NOT AS A RULE BOOK. * Also here is the isolated guitar for the song :) you can clearly here what the 3 guitar tracks are playing. ruclips.net/video/CYsLZD74mWs/видео.html There’s also an e-bow track which is separate from the guitar track. E-bow is a thing that lets you get a constantly playing note from an electric guitar
Half the World Away by Oasis too, which is a fantastic song also. It' a B-Side that was on the Masterplan album, and I think Don't Look Back in Anger might be the A-Side it was originally on.
Carl awesome lesson! you should check out doing some Doors stuff! the only real lessons on RUclips are love me two times and let's be real that's just not good enough haha thanks for all the great lessons
I believe its an US Strat with Seymour Duncan Hotrail pick-up's. Although the neck pick-up could also be a cool rail. Maybe someone can confirm this. Carl?
Hi Carl, do you use some effect in this song? I'm trying to play it raw with the amp, but doesn't sound as good as yours (Also I have a Fender stra mex, yours is top of the line :P )
Emily Lodge Hey thanks for watching. I have already taught Whole Lotta Love and a bunch of other Zep songs. You can find all my Led Zep lessons in their lesson playlist here. :) ruclips.net/p/PLOBqO_KghqI694zqeXFsRMDKd3ZoIsACR

Exactly, when i first started guitar at February his lesson wasn't really helpfull and now he's the teacher i look for learning some song
I like how he doesn't give you a super basic version of the song and shows you how it's actually played

That solo is absolutely mega !!
What electric guitar is that ?
I believe its an US Strat with Seymour Duncan Hotrail pick-up's. Although the neck pick-up could also be a cool rail. Maybe someone can confirm this. Carl?
These are not Seymour Duncan hot rails they are just standard strat pickups for either a Mexican or US
Hi Carl, do you use some effect in this song? I'm trying to play it raw with the amp, but doesn't sound as good as yours (Also I have a Fender stra mex, yours is top of the line :P )
The solo is basically a note for note rip off of Primal Scream Damaged
Where can I learn the little guitar bits throughout the songs pls make a video of that too
Jorges channel got that
Just a matter of opinion, but I think the chords sound nicer when you use a E7 instead of an E
