I have been "Fat" all my life .... I was told I would be single all my life coz I'm not desirable enough for any man to marry me and the only reason somebody would want to marry me is if v give loads of dowry ....
I had very low self esteem and never thought I'm beautiful coz all the fat comments passed .... But things changed once I started working and I had friends who were such good influences who told me that I'm beautiful and helped me build my self esteem and at that same workplace I found the love of my life ....
Turn the time wheel to 2020 I'm still "fat" I'm married for 11 years have a beautiful baby girl she will be 2 next month....
My husband fell in love me for all the love handles I hav flabby arms fat thighs and till date finds me desirable with all the post pregnancy weight gain and all ...

Wow! Thankyou for sharing, my love story also started like this 4 years ago, my husband doesn't care how much fat i carry instead he supports me in everything I do, i am a plus size woman who loves makeup and i have recently stated my own channel. The only thing that matters to me is how one is doing his/her makeup irrespective of gender, caste, race, body type etc. Corallista is a guru for me and she is flawless when it comes to makeup.

Hi Ankita. My story is so much similar to you. I am also an IIT grad. When I was young I was extremely thin and people used to associate my beauty with my thin stature. That time I was only interested in studies and hence did not bother much. Its been few years that I have gained a lot of weight. Now people say that I would have looked better if I lost some weight. So I finally realize that people can never be happy and my life does not depend on what they say. I don't bother about my appearance now but I have understood the importance of fitness, exercise and having healthy food especially after relocating in Holland. Here people are more conscious about staying fit rather than how they look.

I love this video. It's mature, beautiful and positive. There was a time when I was so disgusted with my body & couldn't look at myself in the mirror. I love how you said that you simply got tired of hating your body and that's how you started on this journey of self love because that's how it happened with me as well. Thank you for touching upon the relationship with food as well, I feel like most people don't even talk about that. Thank you for this video. Would love your thoughts on topics which are close to you as well! Stay safe. Best wishes 💕

I can relate to everything that you have said. In fact most of the girls would agree with u on this. It's very sad that people judge a girl only by her looks because this is what society unknowingly teach every kid and this mentality needs to change. I am watching your videos for years now. I have always found u beautiful and inspiring. After watching your very first few videos I was desperate to know ur educational background and was very much impressed when I got to know that u're from IIT. Keep creating more such content, because u influence people positively.

    Hi Ankita,
Firstly I started following you on RUclips few years back . Im a Corporate professional and before my career started I have always been studious and never focused on looks or makeup . Honestly I started following you not because of your beauty blog but you personality was so powerful when i first saw you talking. I was astonished to see a beauty blogger talking about scientific ingredients in a beauty products and giving such an indepth analysis about its usage. I was awestruck and started following you. This video today and your couple of other recent videos are so powerful. I have always been a strong independent woman living my life on my own terms. And in you I see so much talent .. so powerful yet so calm. Such an inspiring soul you are. More power to you. Stay healthy stay safe

This was a very honest & relatable video...I have literally gone through all this myself. And I want to add that its not just the hate comments but also the comments from friends & family like -"You have lost weight, you look great now!" that impacts our mental health. We need to be self aware enough to face the society boldly and don't let others impact our happiness.

Thank you for so beautifully articulating what all of us need to hear! In this day and age everyone is looking for an external validation to find happiness, sadly we look outward and not inward - once we ourselves feel good in our skin, happiness finds us. You break through the noise of social media and its “curated” nature 👏🏻

Thank you, Ankita. For sharing this with us. Its actually so many out here like us who hear those words and the stares say it all. Though there are people who would come up and say do you know you have a confident and pretty face, there are people who would still say you know you would look so much sexier if you lost those 15-20 kgs. The hardest part is when it comes from your own family. When I hit my puberty, my weight pulled up and my mother constantly reminded me of that but I was a growing child and even though I was a lot active, the weight hit me hard. I was afraid it might have been a medical condition, I was made to go through all sorts of tests whenever I tried losing weight, everything came out to be normal, except my weight. My husband loves me a lot, we were together for like 6 years before we got married, despite of my weight but I still know everyone around hopes how it would have been better had I been down by at least 10 kgs if not more.
But this video made me realize I am quite confident about myself but had just forgotten to appreciate it..
    Waiting for your next video.
    Love,

this video made me happy and i smiled. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm 19 and i feel the same thing as you felt as a teen... anxious and not loving the way i look.
i have been told my entire life that i am 'fat'. as a kid i was not anxious and used to love myself but over the years social standards has now made me hate my body as i started to gain more weight.
but i hope to see myself like you one day...confident and happy.

I have a similar journey . I have always felt fat even when i was at my thinnest. I was never able to enjoy my food or my clothes. All i could think was, " i will lose this weight when i complete a particular goal of my career." So eventually in college i did loose a lot of weight and was the perfect weight for my height. But i still felt fat. I have put on a lot of weight now, but my mindset still remains " career oriented". I am trying hard to change that. I have started eating a lot better.and i do work out 2-3 times a day. I do yoga which i enjoy. And i meditate. i want to reach at a level where i m comfortable in my skin. So thank you for this video....it helped me a lot. Hope to be able to say that i love my body one day and mean it too!💜

I'm so so so glad to have come across this video. Every single thing you've talked about from the depression phase to disassociating desirability with how sexy I can look to dressing up to cover my body shape. Every single thing makes me see a reflection of my story in yours.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! :)
It feels such a relief to see you as a hope.. because I'm 24 now and after fighting with depression since a long time, I've started on this journey of accepting my body the way it is but every now and then things around make me question myself as to whether I'm just living in denial or what. But if you are the level I can reach to in this journey, then I'm really glad to have started on to this :)
    *teary eyed*
I wish I could hug you right now.
PS: I'm that fan who 2 years ago used to crave the way you looked in your make-up videos and I used to push myself into eating only Daliya as all my meals of the day just to be able to look as beautiful as you! Haha. Have come a long way.
More and more love to you :) ♥️♥️♥️

    Hi Ankita
I really appreciate your strength and generosity in sharing such a personal story when you could have played safe and not talked about it given that you are in the beauty business. I do have to accept that I myself might have been fleetingly judgemental about your changing weight on the face over the years, especially since you moved to Mumbai. I have felt exactly the same sentiments you mentioned in the video - she is a class act already and she would be able to do so much more by branching out if only she lost some weight especially as she is in the vanity business. Now I understand things better and feel sorry to have been so quick to judge. I also loved how you listed a few of your positive attributes that helped you in over coming the negative body image, they felt so true. I would definitely use a similar list when I feel completely worthless when I focus only on my negatives.
It is you who I come looking for whenever I feel like buying another lipstick shade or when my foundation is nearly empty. You are so - to the point, honest and trust worthy. I have been following your work since your blogging days from ?Japan(if I a remember right) and I feel so proud of your journey and in fact feel like part of your journey. More power to you hun.
Other topics that you may wish to consider, especially as you have so much experience working from home - how to keep your work -home balance whilst WFH. As it is a novel experience for me, I feel like it is constant struggle to avoid one spilling into the other and battling the constant guilt, add to that constant distraction from multiple internet tabs. Any practical tips would be very welcome.

Such a soothing video.. you described your experience so beautifully. Thanks for sharing with us.
Like you mentioned, it's so important to be healthy, both mind, and body. Weight is so transitory, it's the other things that we need to work on, like you said. Focusing on our inward selves makes us better people, rather than pouring so much into beautifying our outward appearances.
Loved this video. I too have faced hormonal issues. I've also faced backlash from close people when I turned from super skinny girl to slightly overweight. But know I'm learning to balance it out. I'm working on my health and it has improved. It's all about taking care of yourself and being at peace with yourself.
Stay Beautiful Ankita. Your inner radiance shines through. It's something that's admirable. Keep it going. We need more influencers like you who talk about the real deal. Loads of love! 🌹
P.S. love the music, I noticed that the song "Oh Holy Night" was playing in the background. :')

It’s so important that you talked about self worth not being attached to the way we look, especially with your beauty channel, I’m so happy you used your platform to share this with so many young girls struggling with body positivity. Also love that you say you are proud of your intellect, your intelligence really shines through. You are a beautiful soul and a gorgeous woman. ❤️❤️❤️

@corallista I feel like giving you a hug.. You go girl. It takes a lot of courage to share personal things publically. I have never commented on your video. But this time I couldn't stop myself. You know what Ankita self love is very important. Kyunki taane marne ka theka to duniya ne le rakha hai. I just don't understand why can't people just keep their advice regarding marriage and weight to themselves. But you correctly said that you should not measure your self worth in terms of your weight or looks. More power and Loads of love to you Ankita 💓💓..

Great talk! You couldn’t have conveyed those important points any better. Thank you for this video. This needs to be a public notice message to everyone. Being an Indian and living in India for many years I know this about us that sometimes we just don’t have any filter and we could say the most rudest thing to a stranger with a straight face as if you are giving the biggest “gyan” or advise to someone like “hey you could look so pretty if you were thinner”. It’s just downright rude to say that to anyone let alone a stranger. And the person giving this advise is not doing it for your good but they just feel superior to you and feel that they are in a better place coz they look someway physically to downright say this to your face but really are you healthy and strong physically to make such comments.no matter fat or thin can climb five floors of stairs without being out of breath and dying a lil bit. The whole point is to be happy healthy and having healthy habits. Lot of folks look thin but they have horrible habits like eat shit loads of carbs, fried fatty foods etc and never have consciously worked out in their lives but they remain thin due to their busy lifestyle cos they have to run around the whole day to get work/ errands done and that keeps them thin. But are you really strong and fit. I used to be a thin girl my whole life and let me say never had a great relationship with food (ate all the junk i wanted) and never worked out and felt very good about myself but never really had any stamina to even run for a mile. Started living in the US where I would use my car to go everywhere didn’t make any changes to my lifestyle and put on shit tons of weight. But now I’m slowly learning to forget about my weight and eat healthy and make an effort to work out and the important thing for me now is to not look a certain way but to be healthy and fit for my family. To be able to live long enough to see see grandchildren and be healthy in my old age so that I’m not a burden on my children later. To have stamina to keep up with my hyper active kid. Let me tell you health is so much more important than looking a certain way. And to all the thin people who have shitty eating habits and haven’t worked out their whole life and think they are superior to others to give them rude comments about others weight - just let time pass and that will show you where you are at the health curve. It takes way more effort to work out and eat healthy than just running your mouth. Kudos to you to make this video and to so kindly and graciously open up some people minds!!

I truly agree with you. I was in a phase, where I lost a lot of weight, people still used to complain that I could lose some more weight. I have now gained weight, but I am happy. I am no more concious about what people think, I have started working out on my own. And it feels good. I really don’t give a fuck to what people say about my body/weight. I am now very confident in my skin.

    Dearest Ankita,
I have been following you ever since you began your blog. Back then I was immobile for a year following a surgery and gained a lot of weight and felt I needed to up my makeup game to compensate for that. Body image is so problematic , we don’t realise it till much later. I’m still battling my body image issues, but I’m also embracing bare-faced beauty (no makeup, no hair dye) as one way of practising acceptance. But oh lordy, people have stupid comments even there! I have stopped following many beauty bloggers ever since, because I don’t use beauty products anymore, but I laud your openness, honesty and vulnerability in sharing your stories. It makes me feel all the more connected to you. Keep doing what you do, you truly are a ray of sunshine for many people out there :) Love and hugs, Chitra

U are such a sweetheart and a beautiful soul dear
.. ND we all need to understand beauty has no relation with weight or height or skin color.
It's more about how we carry ourselves.. ND most importantly everyone is beautiful in their own way... It's high time to break the orthodox prejudices which has no relation with how others want us to be .. It's more about being beautiful inside which reflects outside.. So keep eating.. ND keep loving urself.. Love you always ❤️❤️

I agree with Ankita on accepting ourselves as we are instead of hating ourselves. We all have issues. Some people are struggling with weight issues, some have acne problems, etc. Even I had been struggling with an issue myself for more than 10 years. The reason I have used the word "had" is not that the problem has gone away. It is because now I have learnt to live with it. I had wasted enough years thinking about it and working on it to go away and feeling bad about it. But now that I have grown in years and mind, I know life is not all about the looks. You will still have people who love you and those who hate you, even if you are the slimmest, have the best of skin, or have great hair and the like. Infact having issues will help you see who all are the real ones and who are just for pictures. It's your life and you can decide the quality of it. So instead of wasting some beautiful years worrying and feeling bad about yourself, it is better to start living and being happy. and one should remember, we can't please everyone. Even Aishwarya Rai has haters. Or replace his/her name with any other person that you consider the most beautiful. The situation will still be the same.

Ankita I've been through something same, although in a totally opposite way. So I couldn't put on weight for as long as I can remember and I've always been too thin, kind of underweight compared to girls my age, and as a result of this I have small breasts too. And I have been body shamed so much by people, by friends, by family, making fun of it and saying things like "it seems you've been rolled on by a road roller, that's how flat you are" or that "you don't even need to wear a bra" not even realising what that was doing to my self-esteem, self-worth and self-confidence. I never felt good enough, beautiful enough and confident enough no matter what I wore. I just didn't feel beautiful and my confidence took such a toll. I was so conscious every time I was around boys, especially, because I felt if girls can make fun of such things, boys will definitely not be sensitive enough to understand and I felt as if no guy would take notice of me based on how thin I am. It was so depressing Ankita.
I turned 27 yesterday and now I'm around 48 kgs. It was a slow process even this much weight gain but I feel beautiful now because I stopped listening to the chatter outside and started making myself realise how I just need to feel good no matter how I look because confidence makes look good and not the other way round. I stopped feeling bad about my small breasts and started following and looking up people who have the same traits and still look ravishing because of how well they carry themselves and now if anyone dares body shame me I am not defensive. I just tell them I love myself for who I am.

Don't let your body get to you, just eat right and healthy. Something silly that really helped me was Kareena Kapoor's characters both from K3G and Jab We Met. Both Poo and Geet didn't give a damn and I resolved that's how I want to be. I am what and who I am and I am awesome and I won't let anyone make me feel otherwise ☺️
