First. You could use a dehydrator on 125°F over night instead of open air for a week.
Second. While they are gummy you could roll them in asorbic or citric acid or powdered sugar befor they dry.
Bonus. In the storage container use corn starch or powdered sugar dusting 😊

u could try dehydrating it but i doubt it would work because sugar crystals take days to grow, this is just a modified version of japanese crystal candy which is a traditional japanese agar candy

I have been making gummies for a long time, both psilo and canna, and I would not suggest coating these with citric acid. I have tried this with several different gummy recipes, and the citric acid always partially melts the exterior, even in the fridge.
Macro vs Micro had success in doing a few Macro first . Allowing the mushrooms to blast you into self awareness , showing you the shadows and trauma that have been hiding under the rug . Micro dosing has helped me stay on the pulse of my shadow work , helping me remember my best self .
Microdosing makes me feel more human . I personally feel like microdosing increases my ADD for the day , but I may have to dial the dose down a little . The benefits outweigh the downsides .

I would use much colder water, boiling water will thermally decompose the target products. Also, using vacuum filtration with a buchner funnel is way easier and more effective than squeezing it. You've got to heat it for the gummy making step, but only above the melting point of gelatin, which is pretty low, like 170F. Heating it on a stove is gonna get it way above this temp. At least use a double boiler if you don't have a hotplate with a temp probe.

Got one more question for you, I've read that the Magic in the mushroom degrades just over 160 degrees. Would it be prudent to boil some of clean water in advance with the agar. However much water used could be omitted from volume of the double rinse.

@@joeyhalbrook9818 made a mushroom shatter extract that was water and alcohol. First everclear for month, or a few hours in ultrasonic. Double filtered, biomass in water gently heated or ultrasonic bath. Evaporate do it separately and then combined at the very end by pouring the mix on the parchment lined tray and then in the dehydrator for a day and a half. Final product produced approximately 1/3 of biomass weight as concentrate (3x strength)

dope how long do they last and how to store? I made some with a lot less sugar and didn't leave them out for a week, kept them in a mason jar in the fridge and they went moldy in a couple weeks
i have some that are like 2 months old that seem just as potent as when i made them i kept some out in the open and some in the fridge sealed both seem to work, the crystal shell continues to grow if u leave it out in the open it gets pretty thick

ye they are good for microdosing if u cut them small before they crystalize. i just keep them in the fridge once the sugar shell has formed and I haven't noticed any issues after a few months of storage. They wont store as long as capsules though just due to the water and stuff in them

Say I wanted to adjust your recipe to try and have each gummy have a nice round number of the good stuff and have 1 gummy be 1 dose. How would you go about adjusting the water for the weight?
Also, follow up question, how long do they store for?
the way I make it makes 3 of them equal to 3.5g but if you want each one to equal 1 gram i would say the easiest way is just using 24g of mushrooms to start with instead of 28, and they store for a while I have some that are a few months old that are fine

i have to give a disclaimer that its never a good idea to ship these types of things, but they are fine in pretty warm temps but I haven't had them in over 85f

How do u measure the dosage thats in each gummy, i had two different mold sizes i had a small donut sized and then a mold thats a bit bigger, i only took two of the small ones and i was already feeling mellow and good lol so i took 5 more smaller ones and i really started tripping
just take the ammount of grams u used and divide it by the number of gummies u make

What about adding lemon juice to the water? I heard the acid breaks down the part that makes you get nauseous
the part that makes u nauseous is the proteins in the mushroom flesh, making an extraction or cooking them deals with that. lemon only serves to dephosphorylate the psilocybin into psilocin
I would put vit C to reduce the oxidation of the psilocine but it is just an extra

For sure, there is no 100% efficient extraction of anything. if ur not worried at all about taste and stomach issues, and u are worried about the minor alkaloid losses u get from extrating, then this is probably not the method for u

you dont have to worry too much unless u expose it to high heat for an extended period of time, but theres many people who enjoy these mushrooms stir fried and stuff
yes so much misinformation floating around the net. Heat really has no effect. Its the oxidation that happens from exposure to high temperatures for prolonged periods of time. the key is oxidation not heat.

Can some tell if the method your using is what those magic butter machines do
as far as i know all those machines do is heat and stir at the same time, also I would not recommend using 190 proof alcohol to extract mushrooms like those machines recommend because the alkaloids are much more soluble in water. 170 proof is better if u want to evaporate it down afterwards, if u arent evaporating it down then just use water.

@@manuelmolina7097 all extracts are gonna lose some potency but i doubt its more than like 10%, i wouldnt use lemon because psilocin has a worse shelf life, you could try cooking with the old mushrooms but idk, and u gotta wait a week for the sugar crystal shell to form but u can eat it whenever just wont be as good

so do you all do this stuff just for taste or something? every time i try some weird extraction or anything other than chocolate its just no where near as potent. theres no way no matter how i try to make these gummies that they just end up weak. so weak
all extractions will lose potency this is to make it taste better and hurt your stomach less if u only care about potency keep your fruits whole and dried in a air tight container out of light

@@MycoDogs I learned with the lemon tek extraction I made a fatal mistake like twice by leaving it in the juice ( first time home made arnold palmer/ second organic OJ) way too too long. Was pretty discouraged but making chocolate worked amazingly. Then tried to make gummies and I think I must of done something wrong there cause it was like a micro dose. Which I like to do. I’ve just been getting a lot of momentum in the healing aspect of a larger dose, sat down with a journal and a recorder. Picking through my mind. I didn’t mean to sound like I’m just bugging to get high. But when I try to do an extraction it seems like I either made a mistake or I misunderstood what it was supposed to accomplish 😂 I’m still learning, and I’m an asshole. I’m in the process of getting an ultrasonic extraction set up. I refuse defeat

You won't get 100% Psilocybin extraction will you? There looks like there could be quite a bit of loss in all that wet clump of material? Is psilocybin water soluble?
there is no extraction process that is 100% lossless, but water is the best solvent to use to dissolve it (section 3.2.5) pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/Psilocybine#section=Chemical-and-Physical-Properties
@@MycoDogs I'm trying to improve stability of my tinctures and gummies. Shelf life is really short for tinctures (1 week, 2 max), not sure about gummies.
Currently experimenting with vit C, aka acorbic acid, as extraction catalyst for cold water extraction, as heat causes dephosphorylation, and hopefully it will also act as a preserving agent against oxidation.
I'll then do the second part of my dual extraction with ethanol 96 for hot extraction in my soxhlet. Not all tryptamine are soluble in water (baeocystin nd norbaeocystin are soluble in alcohol). I'm basically trying to minimise use of heat in my processes. Is this something you're familiar with by any chance?
@@starburstmemories as far as i'm aware, the decomp from psilocyb to psilocin is basically unavoidable, but the degradation beyond that point only significantly starts to accelerate above tempatures of like 240f, so boiling water shouldn't have any major effect but its worth further study.
as for shelf life, my gummies kept well for a few months in the fridge but I haven't done any objective testing on strength over time. I recently got a soxhlet too which I've been playing around with, I wasn't aware of the solubility of the other alkaloids I'll need to look more into that.

@@MycoDogs Nice one, thanks for getting back to me. Yeah I read that paper, I was directed to it from someone I discuss these things with a lot on Mycoholics Anonymous. Are you part of the group by any chance? Would be nice to include you in the discussion.
The reason I'm trying to avoid heat is not post dephosphorylation, but to minime dephospho itself. There's a chart somewhere that precisely lists the level of conversion increase being caused by what temperature and for which duration. It goes pretty fast! So boiling temperature for a couple of hours would be likely to convert pretty much 100% of psilocybin into psilocin.
My reasoning is this: that's not a bad thing in itself as people usually expect a fast come up from tinctures (or gummies), however too much psilocin also means faster degradation, so I'm trying to minimise dephosphorylation knowing that it will occur enough anyway after extraction, at least via evaporation.. I'd like to reach evaporation (or cooking gummies, whatever source of heat required in the process) with as much psilocybin preserved as possible ;)
Beyond dephospho, degradation of all tryptamine is to my knowledge caused mainly by oxidation which I'm hoping to mitigate with the ascorbic acid.
@@MycoDogs I thought I might share some of the findings I made over the past couple of month, soxhlet wise. It's a great apparatus but be aware that used without caution it can easily overheat.
Here's the deal, say you have like me a 250ml soxhlet. Using the full volume of solvent will maximise its physical efficiency, in terms of thermodynamics. Only problem is if, like me, you need to reduce to 1/10th of that via evaporation, there'll be a lot of conversion going on there.
So I looked at the minimal volume of solvent I can use and still have my siphon cycling. On an empty extraction chamber, that's around 150ml, but when your extraction chamber is full of product that can probably be a lot lower. However... and that's where overheating can easily occur.. the less volume you use, the more empty your flask will be just before your siphon cycles. And an empty flask overheats.. a lot! I've learned the hard way.
So basically atm I'm looking for the right balance with as little solvent as possible at the lowest possible temperature, while my siphon still cycling at an acceptable rate (time is also of the essence...). It's a delicate task, I'm getting there empirically.
I'm also thinking of getting a double neck flask in order to fit a thermometer in there which could in theory control the heating mantle, either on/off, or better, through wattage. But I'm not there yet, bit complicated..
The other thing is alcohol.. Some say use ethanol 96% and nothing else (or ever clear), but as you know that's a bad idea as psilocybin is very soluble in water, and not so much in alcohol. Some say use water only, and that's also a bad idea as it will miss out on tryptamines. This is how I found out for myself.
I did a dual extraction, alcohol first, then water. Isolated a little of both separately, and mixed the rest as my final product. The ethanol extraction barely did anything, I could feel it but just not like psilocybin (or rather, psilocin). Physical high and color intensification, but no psychological effect. Water extraction was a lot stronger and closer to expected qualitatively, but still weak compared to eating fruit. The dual was as expected, strong and fast to come up, and felt like more than the addition of the two.. I think there's synergy going there, as in baeocystin and norbaeocystin affecting the way psilocin affects your brain. It's a theory out there, not something I made up, but my research seems to validate this hypothesis. It's also a hypothesis put forward in trying to explain why different strains have different effects. I'm not one who believes a cube is a cube in terms of effect :)

its fine to include lemon, but you will dephosphorylate more psilocybin into psilocin which might affect the shelf life im not sure but its less stable chemically than psilocybin

Ok update: i made these and they turned out AWSOME! I did do a test batch without mushrooms and it was a good test i put the gummies in the freezer for about 15min my freezer is very cold, i took them out and let them set and they became nice and firm not to sticky either. I made a batch with mushrooms and here is my recipe: i had 900mg Agar excellent gel strength, 6.7grams is what i measured out, i did a little over 300 grams of sugar (306 grams) some blue food coloring and blueberry and pineapple flavoring
Did this without the extracting in water because im paranoid of losing potency (probably not true but you know, I felt safer), just raw powder, texture is grainy gummy but very nice shell, thank you!!!!
In the future if you're going to leave the material in, some people prefer slightly more chunky. Small enough to not really notice, but big enough so it doesn't blend with the gummy and change the consistency.

@@manuelmolina7097 it'll all work. You're still effectively eating the mushrooms either way. It's just that when you grind it up real fine and mix it into the gummy it's gonna be gritty, but you can fit more mushroom into a single gummy. Or you could Lemon tek the mushrooms, add water until you have the right amount of liquid for the recipe and then you've got gummies without any of the powder or pieces.

i tried to use the tek method and i like it better, not only the flavor is natural and tasty, but it gets a more organic blue shade to the gummies, also the effect of tek is stronger in my personal experience

@@obad7633if you wait a day, the gummy should become more solid. Not sticky to the touch but no crunch/hard shell. Might be wrong but that's how my gelatin gummies work
My first attempt came out the texture of jam. I did another batch cooking it longer (20 min?), until the drips could stretch all the way from the liquid to the whisk, but it came out like thick corn syrup. Two questions: roughly how long did you cook it for before it was the proper consistency? And how do you know if it is a cooking time vs. amount of agar issue?
Tried this recipe yesterday. First batch was a little too watery (that was on me). Second batch was 🔥. Much more dialed in than the 1st run. Thanks for the great recipe and tutorial.

I made this recipe a few weeks ago. I had a few issues. First of all it was a lot less solid than yours and as a result they left behind large parts in the molds. I then left them out to harden and became moldy in two weeks. Any advice here? I'd like to try again but wasting an oz hurts and I don't want to do that again.

it sounds like you may not have mixed the agar enough while dissolving, i'm sorry it went that way for u. Look up "Japanese crystal candy" on youtube its the recipe i based this off of and try making some non medicated ones before using mushrooms again once u have the recipe down good.

Coming from an experienced candy maker... Feel free to use cooking spray in your mold for easier release. To prevent mold growth I have two suggestions. First, always wear clean gloves when handling the gummies. Second, if you can add some citric acid, orange juice concentrate, lemon juice concentrate or any other antioxidant it will prevent mold growth. Bonus, by adding an antioxidant it also prevents the oxidation of the active compunds which will prolong the magic.
Instead of water use lemon juice you wont have to use soo much liquid and the lemon juice will be able to hold more of the extract than just plain water. Also you could just divide everything in half. Or experiment in small batches till you get it right then you can just multiply by how many gummies you are making, Also storing in fridge or freezer is less likely to cause mold.

not for this recipe, theres a book called "cooking with cubes" that has a recipe for gelatin based gummies in it i believe

you mean lemon not lemontek. you cant add lemontek - that's the whole recipe. also no, it would degrade
adding lemon juice, aka citric acid, will dephosphorylate psilocybin into psilocin. Making for a faster come up and shorter trip. But it will also reduce shelf life quite a lot, as psilocin is much more unstable than psilocybin.

umm, basically self experiment like this guy did, its always going to vary from user to user, shit I was eating an eigth and had good vibes, but once I tried a gram in lemon TEK I had a very bad trip and didmt want to to try again, just a grower/caregiver now

thats less than a gram of agar i think you'd need quite a bit more like 4-6 grams for a 200ml batch, i'd also recommend creating a batch without mushrooms to practice before u use mushrooms in it. As for rolling it with sugar i'm sure it would work but if u just let the crystalized shell form u don't need to

He's wrong. The study he's citing showed degradation at every temp above 25C, with more degradation the higher you go, and found that the optimal temp for them to extract with methanol and ascorbic acid was 25C.

Hey buddy, I tried to make your recipe and I had everything measurements wise correct. The only thing that isn’t really covered is the food tasting extract so I just got some “McCormick strawberry extract” put only a couple drops in along with only a couple drops of red food coloring.
Do you know why my gummies are not staying solid after being in the freezer for a couple hours then a 24 hour refrigerator cycle and they are still somewhat watery.
Do you know where I possibly went wrong or why this could possibly be happening?
Currently trying it in the freezer for 24 hours but skeptical that even if it does solidify that it might melt.
how much agar did u use? u shouldnt need to freeze it i just use the freezer for like 30 min to speed it up
Agars vary on the amount of water they tell you to add. You probably have a weaker agar and just need to add more of it. Also it seems in the videos like boiling it until it becomes a goopy consistency as shown might be important in starting the process to solidifying.
I never made mush gummy but when I make my “spicy plant” gummy and they don’t solidify I remelt them and add more gelatine or in this case, agar agar.
Usually they came out fine.
