- As I was reading umineko's EP 8 I noticed the similarity of that phrase with the one Rika makes in this scene in Higurashi Gou.

I dont why people are confused that bernkastel is so crazy. She is the combination of every rika unable to move past the curse and is a sort of self defense mechanism for rika. In the orignal higurashi bernkastel always appeared, when rika realized she failed the timeline and no other option but death left.
She isn’t a combination of every bad end Rika. She is a manifestation of despair that all the Rikas who didn’t make is past 1983 had, she is her on separate entity that was born from Rika’s suffering.

The thing is we cannot clearly state how Bernkastel really acts and behave. Lambdadelta said at the end of the tea party in episode 8:

And Bernkastel responded that it was fun to her to play that role.
Sure but they said she is one of the cruelest witches so I don’t expect her true character to be “good” either way.

And it makes sense. In the narrative of Umineko, miracles were cruel, especially to Beato, and miracles were a true blessing to one of the most irredeemable pieces of poo. Spoilers...

@@micpie9480 You have to realise that a miracle for one person can be a complete nightmare to another. For every meal you eat, there are more people starving out there than you can count. In other words, you're eating the food they would kill to have. Miracles can't occur without somebody getting hurt. That's how the world works.

I always feel bad When I think that Rika suffered so much that her sufferings created one of the most evil Witches that enjoys making people suffer even though Rika is such a sweet girl at heart
to be fair bern doesn´t just enjoy suffering, she just hates boredom and in Umineko she decides to be the antagonist so that the game doesn´t end and because she wanted to win against lambda, it´s more a game for her. She is less evil and more a psychopath, but in the end most people see that as the same therefor I can´t completly disagree. She is like Kyubey from Madoka

Bernkastel literally has empathy though. She joins to help out Battler who’s trapped in a never ending game just like herself when she was younger.
And I'm still convinced for this reason that St. Lucia Rika is just Bernkastel.
I mean every names character we’ve seen attend St. Lucia has either Committed a Mass Murder, Really wanted to commit a Mass Murder, Hurled themself off a skyscraper, or committed a murder suicide.

Bernkaatel wouldn't be able to help herself from making snide remarks at everyone, it's just Rika. Now Lambdadelta is a much better actress and if she were the sole responsible for Satoko i wouldn't bat an eye.

To be honest, I was thinking that Satoko would commit a school shooting before killing herself and Rika, she's been pretty tame. the school is fine it's me who is wrong.
The canon explanaition is that Rika always is a part of Bernkastel. Furude Rika is just a variation of Frederica, ¿you got it? Rika is the one that never gave up and Bern is the one that doesn't care about Hinamizawa

Bern is just the lowkey insane shawty while Rika is the almost the complete opposite. There was like one time where Rika actually went insane when she yells at takano and irie for basically being useless and tells them to go die already. And just screams.

You dream/hope something will happen but will need to despair almost 99.9999999…% of the timr unless a miracle happens. Lambda is the opposing force of reality and fate. @@escapetherace1943 The question is, I was lead to believe that Bernkastel was originally Featherine's cat. Only after going through the Higurashi loops, the cat gained personality and became the witch Bernkastel. My understanding is that Higurashi world, like the previous person said, is a 'game board' existing independently from the main timeframe. Meaning that the cat Rika, the adult Frederica etc. can co-exist in that world. Considering that Bern is 1000 years old I assume that the Higurashi world was either created a very long time ago, or the witches have their own timeframe where they can live 1000 years while only say 100 years of our world pass.

logically, bernkastel (the witch) is the game master (against Hanyuu), so she influences Frederica Bernkastel who herself influences Rika, but Bern is not Rika, as Erika is not Bern

According to what I understand and have deduced, higurashi is a game where hanyuu is the Game master. The logic error that LAMBADELTA refers to would be that hanyuu seeks a result where Rika can survive everything that she tries takano. Bernkastel (federica and Wich) is the meta entity, born because of the events of higurashi. Always inferior to hanyuu, who would end up at some point becoming a fragment of featherine whatever aurora is (that is, he would join her), and said entity (Bern) would end up submitting to aurora, in order to entertain himself.

bern is an INTP 5w4 who can withstand any mental attacks, however any physical assault makes her very uncalm/fearful. rika is an INFJ 9 who attached to comrades and wants to settle things peaceful, she is ready for any damage as long as her battery is charged. they are pretty much opposite on phylosophycal scale, despite INTP/INFJ usualy having great relationship and can relate to each other. it is wierd that she swaps personality like that.
upd: I don't claim Berns or Rikas types. Rika has very developed Ti due 100 years of loops. It still might be 5w4 INFJ. Bern is cold 5w4, but I do not see cognitive traits like Fe inferior that would confirm INTP.

@@f0lks800 cognitive functions. it's a concept Jung developed after parting ways with Freud. you can divide people by 16 types using this system. since most characters are writen in someone's image, we can type them like people. my first post is old, Bern could be INTJ since "cold" is more property of introverted feeling (subjective way to settle on character, Satoko is 100% ESFP she's in current moment not thinking about the future with only feelings in mind).

Actually i believe bernkastel probably be born due to satoko and her battle between the two. Is one world will bring the birth Rika's dark self due that lost hope and gave and this Rika has surpassed past despair that gain hope and now rika still fighting for the hope see desires. Satoko never actually expected to see Teenager Rika to be in this world nor she would supect her exsistence. Satoko is definitely holding grudges and want to change the future. Rika needs only kill Satoko with shard and stop both Satoko and Featherine. This may actually be the point before they make Umineko link the two stories together since this story that created the future ememy of the Umineko series.

Bernkastel the Witch of Miracles, there's a speculation that she might have been born from Rika's despair. Witches are often born or created from a tragic person's memory and events. Bernkastel might be the best villain out there that you will ever encounter in fiction in any medium.
