Rika again asked if she wanted to study and Satoko said: "dont make assumptions about me Rika, I have friends and stuff to do." The problem is, her evil is by no means something such bad experiences can motivate unless she was suffering from Hinamizawa syndrome despite that not being the case or has an extreme case of derealization or extreme black and white thinking. Also, they never bother properly explaining how her status as a witch would affect her personality. I am not against the idea of her being an antagonist but the execution just wasn't good. How can she do all that she did without even a modicum of regret? How was all that in character for her? Were all her friends simply nothing for her? Did nothing exist for her on an emotional plane other than her ideal world where Rika listens to her wishes? Same with Rika. She can be allowed be toxic and emotionally negligent to her but this is way too overboard. Keep in mind, they were the bestest of friends until a while ago. You aren't gonna stand up to your friend and realize how hurt she is at all? It's one thing if you can't always help her and sometimes straight up ignore her, it's another thing when you almost do nothing for her other than praising her sometimes when talking to people who probably hate her and then frown when all that bites you.
Why didn't Satoko reach out to Rika saying she'd been sent to the basement jail? Even if she just wrote a letter it would've been better than just letting everything fester for as long as it did

As someone who watched Sotsu whole, I didn't have any idea what the East and West, up and down dialogue meant. Apparently it's similar to one of Ryukishi07's other visual novels.
I think Gou should’ve been more faithful to the manga, with it revolving around Satoko, trying to make a good timeline where neither she or Rika gets separated, either by expulsion or death, but no matter what, it always ends with one of them dying.
(also the saint lucia girls are assholes satoko says good morning politelly and they say "erm this isnt apropriate for a lady like rika🤓" they are SIMPS😭😭😭
I mean yes and no. Rika was just tortured for 100 years in the same village. She finally had access to new people and knowledge, and felt like she could finally escape her trauma this ONE time. Sadly Satoko ended up dejected because Rika made it all about her feelings and not her best friend.
